Kidou woke up to find his captain gone and the Training Grounds deserted. Man, He thought, How long was I out this time? He then started to push himself up. It was at this moment the Kidou remembered that he had a smoking hole in his shoulder courtesy of his Captain's Lightning hado. It was at that moment that the blinding pain from the wound washed over him like a tidal wave. Kidou screamed falling back down to the ground.

After a few minutes of horrific pain, Kidou tried to get back up again, this time using his unwounded right arm to get up. He then sheathed his broken blade and started to stumble out of the training grounds heading towards forth squad.

Hishida walked into the training grounds and surveyed his surroundings, contemplating if he really should be here. He was never really confident when it came to fighting. He didn't know any advanced swordplay forms or kidou techniques. But it was because of these reasons that he came here in the first place, so he perfect what he lacked in (which was most shinigami based skills). He walked over to a nearby bench and sat down. He then looked up and watched everyone else practice, wishing that he was able to do any of this.

First thing you do, when you get assigned to a Squad... A voice was heard, coming from behind Hishida. His Captain's voice! ...Is to report to your Captain.
As he talked, MockaDash was leisurely walking towards his new subordinate, now only a couple of meters away.

What is it you need? Training perhaps? One should be able to hone their skills by himself. Mock had carried this conceptualization of duty along from the 1st Division, where you were supposed to train and improve by your own means, and always stay on top of everything!
He never was, however, against training a fellow Shinigami.

Puffing smoke from his pipe, Mock stood next to Hishida, while saying... Since you're here, I can give you some work to do, in order to better assess your potential, before trusting you with any assignment.

What say you?

Hishida quickly stands up to face his captain. Sorry sir, I didn't know.... and yes I would very much like some training.

(( I'll consider this RP as happening prior to the Arrancar invasion.

Oh! Hishida, rule of thumb: never post one-liners! Always try to add more flavor to your RPs.))

I watched you, as I approached. I sensed an unfamiliar reiatsu "hanging around" my Squad, and came to check who it was. As usual, since Daven's death, Mock was bitter and straightforward. I noticed you were watching the other Shinigamis training, instead of actually doing some exercises yourself. I don't need slackers in my Division!

Inhaling tobacco smoke from his kiseru, Mock let it out as he spoke the following Strike me down. give me your best shot. The Captain said, apparently keeping his guard down, while gazing at some clouds in the distance.

((Don't worry, I'm not mad or anything. My character has become quite unpleasant due to recent events xp ))

((Sorry sweatdrop I was in a hurry))

Hishida straitened up his posture and nervously unsheathed his sword. He stared at his captain, trying to exploit any tricks that he was obviously planning. After a few seconds he came to the conclusion that if he wanted to figure out what he was going to get from this, he was going to have to do what his captain said. Hishida bit his lip and awkwardly did a sideways slash towards MockaDashs hip area.

((It's OK, it's way better now. But I want you to work harder on your combat descriptions. I purposely refrained from making any action towards you, in order to force you to start from scratch. Do you know what I mean? ))

Sensing a blade coming at his right flank, with his pipe on his mouth, Mock easily took a slight jump back, thus avoiding the blade. It was a slow and inaccurate movement performed by Hishida, at least according to Mock's standards, so it was very easy to follow and avoid.

I honestly hope that's not the best you can do. The Captain said as he took another breath from the pipe. I specifically demanded your best shot.

Next time, I'll retaliate. So at least try not to look that clumsy. He bluntly said, taking a step closer to Hishida, and achieving his previous distance to him.

((ahhhh yes, I see.))

Hishida took a few steps back and reassessed his position. He knew from the start that he wasn't going to impress anyone, especially his captain. At this point though he didn't care. Hishda gridded his teeth and closed his eyes to focus all the reitsu that he could control (which isn't much) into his next strike. The grip on his blade tightened as he cocked his wrists to the right. He then opened his eyes and and lunged forward, trying to maintain as much reitsu as he could. He used the momentum of his upper body to swing his sword above his head and bring it crashing down towards his opponent. Right before the blade got inches away from MockaDash he released each particle of reitsu that he had previously stored.

Mock could easily feel the reiatsu gathering on Hishida. The Captain though that this attempt wasn't going to achieve nothing.

You well know, that the amount of reiatsu you can release is pitiful, when compared to mine. The Shinigami said, as he raised his left hand to meet the his opponent's Zanpakutou. With his bare hand, Mock gripped the blade of the sword, without even bleeding. The difference in spirit pressures was enough to prevent Mock from being cut by Hishida's blade!

With the kiseru hanging on the corner of his mouth, he said It's plain to see that you're at a disadvantage here. So, on the battlefield, in order to have a chance of surviving a situation like this, you'll need to come up with a plan. It was obvious that using all your strength against me and striking at me head on, wasn't going to work. MockaDash aimed an uppercut at Hishida's chin, with his right hand. He was still holding his student's Zanpakutou in order to try and force him to lose his grip of it, in case the punch would hit and cause him to fall backwards.

Try using some kidous against me, kid! I know you can do it! He puffed some smoke. Just try to make me bleed.

Hishida surged the last ounce of controlled reitsu towards the part of his blade that MockaDash was holding to loosen his grip, long enough so he could slide his blade out of his hand. In the process of doing this though his chin made contact with MockaDashs fist and Hishida was forced to let go of his sword. Hishida fell backward as he took the uppercut and quickly got back to his feet, fighting the pain in his jaw. As the topic of kidou was brought up, Hishida narrowed his eyes and looked down at his palms. He studied the scars on his hand for a few seconds and looked back up to his captain. I don't need kidou to win in a fight, he said calmly.

Yes you do. MockaDash bluntly replied. His student was starting to show better responses and counters, as well as reacting faster. You need to take advantage of every resource you might have, if you want to win against a tough opponent, kid. Exhaling some smoke after speaking, Mock approached Hishida, as he raised his left hand to face the Shinigami's fallen sword. Bakudou #4 -- Hainawa. The Captain muttered, and a lace of pure sipiritual energy jolted from his hand and wrapped itself around the Zanpakutou, quickly bringing it to Mock's hand as the energy receded.

For a Captain, I must confess that I myself don't know a wide variety of Demon Magic. Furthermore, for a brief period of time, a long time ago, I was a member of the 5th Squad. So others might consider this as a weakness... He paused to inhale some more tobacco smoke, and let it out slowly as he spoke the following... They're wrong! The ones I do know, I use them in original and innovative ways, as I've just demonstrated to you! Here... Mock said, as he stretched his left arm and handed the Zanpakutou to its owner. Would you like to take a rest now? Or go at it again? The Captain finally let out one of his (now) fabled grins!

Mock noticed that there probably was a reason as to why Hishida refrained from using kidou. The thing that caught his attention was when Hishida gazed at the scars on his hands. Mock just didn't wanted to force him to say anything that he wasn't ready to say...

Hishida took back his zanpakutou and stared at it for a brief moment. He started thinking about how he would be able to use kidou without having another incident. Two times he had lost his reitsu control because of kidou, and he didn't want to cause a third one. He then looked back to his captain and replied, we could try again...... He lifted his sword and prepared for his captains next challenge.

Mock smirked as he observed his student getting into stance. Very well he said, holding his pipe in his mouth, as he launched himself towards Hishida. MockaDash jumped high above the Shinigami, quickly drawing his katana from its scabbard, as he did so. Aiming a straightforward, but powerful slash, he let the blade come down on the top of his student's head.

Since the Zanpakutou was being held in his right hand, Mock had his left hand free to cast a kidou Hadou #4 -- Byakurai! he muttered, as a line of white lightning surged from his left index finger, aimed in point blank at Hishida's heart!

Let's measure your defensive skills now!

Hishida was surprised by MockaDashes sudden change from defense to offense. Hishidas eyes were barely able to follow him as he launched himself into the air. As Mockadash cast his kidou, Hishida shot a jolt of reitsu to his feet to propel him from his current position, so that he could avoid getting hit by either of the attacks that were about to strike him. Though since Hishida only had a split second to make this move, he miscalculated the amount of reitsu that he should have sent to his feet and he flew backwrds farther then he thought he would. He landed on his back slightly dazed. Hishida scrambled to get back into stance.
