((( New guy coming in. Just use your little imaginations and pretend he has always been with us.)))
PostPosted: Fri Aug 08, 2008 4:52 pm

He couldn’t go through with this. Everything inside was screaming for him to turn around and forget this ever happened.
But he knew the truth, knew that there would never be any going back. Today’s events were set in stone the day he met Alice. They were drawing closer to the end, and whether for better or worse, he would have to face the consequences of his actions when he got there.
Alice had stopped struggling but there was still an air of defiance about her. Logan shifted her weight on his shoulder and trudged on grimly, his face a shadowy mask in the darkness of early morning.
The scenery was quickly evolving from the slums he was used to living in to tall buildings with glistening windows made of reflexive glass. Clubs and shopping centers fought for space, sprawling across the city like vines.
This change in scenery meant they were getting closer, but it also meant Logan couldn’t risk carrying Alice over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He shrugged, sending her body sliding forward. Logan held Alice’s hand tightly as her feet hit the ground. To anyone on the outside it would look like they were a happy couple, but the two of them knew differently.
Alec’s elegant building was looming above them already. Did they really have such little time left together?
Logan glanced over at Alice.
“Please, Alice, get that look off your face. There is nothing you can say to change my mind”
“Logan,” she pleaded, and he cringed at the desperation in her voice. “There must be another way. The others can ambush Alec and-”
“Alice, no,” Logan said softly, but there was grim finality in his words. “This is how it has to be.”
“I can’t lose you again Logan!”
Alice pulled at his arm, making him stop. Logan let her; they were close enough to the building for Alec to find them here. He glanced over his shoulder at the skyline and sighed.
“You have to trust me,” he said.
After hesitating for a moment Logan pulled her into a tight embrace. He put his chin on top of her head and closed his eyes.
“Everything I do, Alice, I do for you.” He kissed her forehead and pulled away.
Logan stared down at Alice, searching her face and taking in every feature. He wanted to remember everything about just in case this was their final moment together.
He noted with a little smile that she smelled like sandalwood and rose incense. Even after being thrown about and drug across dirty streets, that lingering scent of the bookstore and her apartment were still on her. Logan could imagine her curled up in an armchair far too large for her with a cup of steaming tea at her side. She would be reading by candlelight because she couldn’t afford to pay the electric bill that month. The incense and candles would be left burning when she fell asleep with the book balanced on her chest, despite his constant speeches about fire safety. He imagined himself carefully pulling the book away, taking care to mark the page, before covering Alice’s gently breathing body with a heavy blanket to keep her warm in the cool night. He would blow out the candles but leave the incense burning for her sake before sinking into the armchair next to her.
Logan closed his eyes for another moment longer. That hadn’t been a memory, but some dream of the future. It was a hopeless dream, too peaceful and perfect, but he held onto it like it was the only thing keeping him alive.
When Logan opened them again his smile was gone, but the phantom of the dream was still playing behind his eyes. He took Alice’s face in his hands and kissed her like he had the day before when they were alone in the room. While his arms drew around her body one of his hands slipped a folded paper note into her pocket. It explained everything, but by the time she read it, it would be too late to change anything.
“Alice, I love you,” Logan breathed, his face still hovering above hers. “No matter what happens, don’t forget that.”
And then he pushed her away.
“Hide!” he called after Alice before turning away. His eyes bore into the distance in anticipation of Alec’s arrival. At his side he drew his knives, careful not to look in Alice’s direction.

Alec gently wiped the trickle of crimson from his lips with the back of his gloved hand and breathed in deeply, enjoying the invigorating scents of sex, fear, and blood. His body gave a shudder of pleasure as he stood from the bed.
His boots made no sound as he stalked leisurely to the bedroom window. The woman that he left behind, however, was anything but silent. Her fraught wailing and wretched shrieks for help made him lick his lips. If he had not been so pressed for time…
Alec leapt from the window, landing on the sidewalk gracefully despite having dropped from the sixth floor. He could still hear the woman’s cries as he headed down the street in the direction of his home. In a day or two that woman would become just as he was. That is, if she didn’t die first. But if that was the case she didn’t deserve his gift and hell would welcome her with an embrace much more loving then he could ever give.
The sun would be rising within the hour, he realized. Alec sighed, wishing such a great night didn’t have to end so soon. But controlling the moon was one of the few things he couldn’t control, so for now he would let it go and just get down to business. Alec pulled his cell phone from its hiding place within one of his coat’s deep pockets and dialed a number.
“Ebony,” he sail coolly as the woman answered the phone. “Bring Jasper outside, please. I don’t care if anyone sees. Grab him as quickly as you can. I’ll admit that I’m feeling rather eager today.”

Alice suddenly found it hard to breathe as she crouched bare foot behind a dumpster in an alley. Logan was still in sight, but it was almost like he was fading away. Tears stung her eyes; her lips still tingled from his kiss. She wanted to go after him. Try to find another way, but she had heard the finality in his voice. He was unmovable about this. And she knew it.
Logan was going to die. And he was walking to his death for the sake of another. What other motive would Alec have for taking the trade? There was only one reason why. To kill him.
Tears overflowed this time, streaming down her cheeks. What more did she have now? What reason to carry on?
I will do the ritual..for everyone...and I'll say goodbye to Jess and Jasper... Alice thought to herself. She knew that once the ritual had been preformed she would no longer have a purpose...a reason to live. Her purpose would have died along with Logan's retreating figure in the distance. The thought of it being over seemed to calm her some how. All the pain, the loneliness..would be gone.
I'll give little Logan to Jasper... The picture in her head almost made her smile. Almost. But his name seemed to burn her mind like a flame. A reminder of her grief.
Alice looked up and saw that Lo-he had stopped walking. He was waiting.
A part of her wanted to turn away and wait for it to be over, but she couldn't seem to take her eyes off him now.

As Alice hid behind the dumpster, Syvra dropped next to her. She smelt dried blood, but she didn't react. She was totally focused on the scene in front of her. She turned to Alice as she drew out different guns from many different places and laid them next to each other in neat rows from biggest to smallest. She had gone to one of her old hiding places and stocked as many as she could onto her person. Syvra saw Alice's eyes popping out of her head when she saw her and saw Alice back away, but Syvra motioned for her to stop and she did, although reluctantly and tensed to leave in case Syvra tried to eat her. "I'm not going to hurt you," Syvra whispered, but the street was back in her, so her voice was like a low, husky growl. "I'm just completely street now. Being with the Cursed, I've been domesticated. Not anymore." She smiled and her fangs shown in the morning light. She saw Alice lean away from her and Syvra almost laughed. "Street vampires' fangs are bigger than one who tries to lead a...normal life." She motioned towards the guns. "Do you want to help? I'm not sure those puny daggers will do much." She took a band and tied her hair back into a messy ponytail. She didn't want anything interfering with her vision. She noticed Alice looking at her face and guessed she must be looking at the change that the street wrought in a vampire. Her eyes, which were blood red anyway, were now almost completely slitted vertically. It was just the way they looked so their prey wouldn't know that they were on the hunt because their huntings eyes looked pretty much the same. Syvra was quite thankful that whatever was in those syringes made her very unhungry. She went back to the task of arming some of the guns with extra cartridges. "So, you made your choice yet?"

“Ebony, bring Jasper outside, please. I don’t care if anyone sees. Grab him as quickly as you can. I’ll admit that I’m feeling rather eager today.”
Ebony parted her crimson lips to inquire further but Alec had already hung up on her. Oh well, she would do what Alec wanted of her, she thought, shrugging her shoulders. Rummaging around in her pocket Ebony withdrew a large silver key that shone in the darkness. Inserting the key into the lock, a resounding clickstopped Jasper's movements. Ebony's grey eyes studied him before entering the dank cell, he had gone completely still and his bloodied nostrils flared, trying to pick up her scent. Flipping the light switch on, Jasper flinched at the sudden intrusion of light despite being blindfolded.

Walking slowly into the cell Ebony looked around for a small blanket to cover Jasper. It would do no good if someone arrested her on the way to Alec. There, in the corner lay a rough brown blanket, and picking it up Ebony's face crinkled with disgust. The damp atmosphere of the cells had made a thin veneer of mold form and the frayed edges were thick with evaporation. Walking swiftly over to Jasper, Ebony flung the blanket around his shoulders, and straightening back up she selected from the ring of keys a slightly smaller key than before. Promptly Ebony unlocked the shackles from Jasper's wrists and with sudden movement she wrapped her garotting wire around both wrists; fastening them together.

With one hand Ebony untied the blindfold and with one fluid motion she stood up, supporting Jasper around the waist as she did. Hurrying to the elevator Ebony pressed the up button with her elbow, and as she waited she readjusted Jasper into more comfortable position for herself. Surreptitiously, Ebony glanced at Jasper, the blanket covered the worst of the injuries, but his face was nearly as bad, with bruises blossoming sporadically, a cut lip as well as trickles of dried blood spanning his features. The elevator arrived and ceasing her assessment Ebony stepped into the elevator and hit the ground floor button.

Walking out through the main entryway of Alec's building Ebony stepped outside. A strong breeze whipped her hair around and lifting her nose into the air she picked up the scent of Alec not too far from her current position. With haste Ebony made her way down the streets, her hair whipping around her face wildly as she walked against the wind. Jasper had barely moved the entire journey, his feet dragged lifelessly against the pavement and he had his eyes closed. The only indicator that he was alive was the shallow breathing he possessed. Finally Ebony saw Alec a few meters away, and she smiled as she saw a Cursed, standing a fair distance away from Alec. Unhurried Ebony made her way to Alec's side and as she came to his side her chest filled with pride and excitement.

Alaric returned to the house with no luck. His intuition just wasn't with him today. Entering the building, he cursed. Most of the group was gone, but worst of all the Cure was nowhere to be seen. He let out a cry of frustration and hurriedly woke up the few remaining. Rosen showed signs of being hit on the head. What was wrong with these people?

"The Cure is gone. I'm sorry to interrupt your slumber, but we need to move fast." His mind was working overtime. Logan wasn't going to abandon Jasper, so he must have gone to turn himself in. But why was the Cure gone? Unless maybe she insisted on going with him, and that idiot let her. "Does anyone know where Alec's base of operations is? Logan and the Cure must have gone there."

He glanced across the room. The prisoner would just have to be left behind. They didn't have time to do anything else, and Alaric doubted Jess would want to kill her.

Despite what she had previously promised herself, she fell into a deeper sleep than planned. Also, despite what she wanted, she dreamed of Jasper again, but this time was different. It was a different Jasper. He was fidgety, and jumpy, he didn't joke nearly as much as he used to, and he smiled very little. "So this is what it's going to be like." she thought to herself despite the dream. Jess thought she heard things happening, she just thought it was some part of her dream that she didn't quite see yet. However, she was wrong, what she didn't know that very important things were happening around her, things that she could have stopped if only she were awake.

She was awaken by Alaric entering the room saying, "The Cure is gone. I'm sorry to interrupt your slumber but we need to move fast. Does anyone know where Alec's base of operations is? Logan and the Cure must have gone there." Jess threw the blanket off of her and surveyed the area around here. The only one's that remained were Irani and Rosen and Alaric. She walked over to Rosen, who appeared to be sleeping but was knocked unconscious. Jess shook her shoulders, trying to wake her up and finally went over to the sink and dripped some cold water on her face. That got her eyes to open a bit, Rosen managed to give Jess the "what the hell just happened to me?!" face. Jess shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know..but you're okay now..I think."

Jess then walked over to Alaric. "No. We aren't going anywhere. I know Logan very well by now. He doesn't want us to follow him. If we do, we'll most likely ruin whatever is going on and get Logan, Alice, and Jasper killed. We can't have that." Jess paused and looked at Alaric carefully. "Don't get any ideas..Logan probably brought Alice to get Jasper here safely." Jess then turned her attention to the new girl, "I dont' know what happened earlier when I was asleep..but it appears Rose was knocked out. I'm not saying it was you..what I am saying however is if you come near ANY of the members of the Cursed..we will kill you quicker than you can make a step."

((..I don't think Neasa's in this Rp anymore..I think she quit))
((Rosey could you post for Rosen, too?))
