Yuriku
Who are these people ? ...
Stepping quickly away, not to be caught eavesdropping on them. She turned away and dashed back to Ayumi and Kat. The last word she heard was Adine's bittersweet voice saying "angel" to the other girl.
Angel ? ... She would call a homeless kid 'angel' ? I thought she hated kids period.

Armony's eyes followed Riku as she scurried off back to her friend and Ayumi. She squinted, her eyebrows knitting together, and shifted where she sat to get a better look.

Not the best idea.

Already having been leaning to the side to look around the area, Armony had needed to lean even further and onto her elbow to follow Riku with her eyes. But the lining of Adine's coat was slick, and her skin was still damp from the rain.

She slipped, and smacked face-down onto the bench with a shrill yelp.

She stayed there for only a split second, then threw herself back into a sitting position, face tinged scarlet. Her hair now slightly askew, she made a point of burrowing into Adine's coat as well as the blanket given to her. She wanted to become part of the bench even more, now that she'd gone and made an a** of herself for staring.

She puffed, and hunched her shoulders under the layers of warmth, her face soured in an unpleasant scowl.

Allowing her crimson eyes to wander, they fell upon the main entrance doors to the HQ, and she sighed. Suddenly she wanted to rush at them and hide outside. Everything was just so confusing.

Instead, she slouched where she sat again. Conversation with "old friends" was still very low on her 'To Do' list.

I'm still the bench... still one with the bench.

Her scowl dissolved, and was replaced with a sullen expression. She really wished she had a better memory.

What the hell had happened at the Alchemyworks? Who was she, exactly? And why the hell couldn't she remember...?

Leiutenant Havoc
"Ah, actually, I'm trying to cut down..." he quipped, and Edward rolled his eyes. The older man clapped the youth on the shoulder. "Ah, but yeah, I do," he said honestly. "I mean, look atchya...you musta grown like...a whole foot since the last time I--"

He froze and his jaw fell open.

Glancing back to the man from the corner of his eyes, his yellow hues narrowed as he aimed another flailing punch at the senior's arm (senior by age.) Frowning as his punch connected with mid air and nothing more, he chuckled.

It had been awhile since he had seen Havoc so lively. Sighing as his mind went to the depths of what he had hoped he could forget eventually. He remembered how Havoc had almost given up on everything, including the very base of everything, life. He had almost given up on life itself. Silently Edward thanked the gods that Havoc was still around and hadn't given up.

Where would Roy be now if Havoc had truly given up on life? After Hughes ' death, it was no secret that Havoc and Roy were closer than before. It seemed that Havoc had been filling in the gap of closeness Roy was missing after that tragic ordeal.

Golden eyes traveled back upward to meet sapphire ones in the dim light and was so very happy to see them smiling again. Remembering the forlorn look on the face of one of their fallen comrades was enough to give Edward nightmares for weeks to come. He remembered how hollow those sapphire orbs were several years ago. He thought he'd never see such a spark of life back in them. Havoc appeared to be as good as new.

Leiutenant Havoc
"Hah~!" he whooped triumphantly as he grabbed the younger man's arm and pulled him off-balance, then landed a playful punch to his shoulder. "I'm not such a pushover now that I'm not a gimp anymore," he crowed, and did a little shuffle with his feet to prove his point.

He released Ed's arm and gave him a sidelong grin. His eyes narrowed wickedly.

"But you're still shorter than me..." he added as a wry afterthought, and dashed forward to avoid Edward's fist again.

Okay, so maybe he was too close to being as good as new. Scoffing, Edward deftly threw one more punch at Havoc and this time it connected softly with a thud to Havocs bicep.

Hmm, he could get used to having a walking punching bag, it could be quite good practice. His will to fight would not cease so long as his punching bag call him 'chibi'.

Chuckling to himself, he walked down the hallway with the group.

Leiutenant Havoc
He heard someone call out to him, but barely, and then felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up, wild-eyed, to see Mustang had taken to a knee in front of him, a worried look in his black eyes. Biting his tongue again, he raised a hand to salute his superior, then leaned his head back, feeling dizzy.

Edward found himself looking to his hand immediately. Had he hit Havoc that hard? He didn't think he had...

Then he heard Havoc mentioning "homunculus" under his labored breath. Frowning at himself. he fought the urge to exclaim that it had been a mere mistake, anything to quell the fear that he saw rising in his comrade's face. He saw Jean's normally peach face go stark white as all the blood drained from it.

Riza Hawkeye Chuui
She spared a glance to Edward, and saw how surprised he looked at Havoc's state. She supposed Edward hadn't known of the nightmares...both sleeping and waking...that Havoc had endured in the time after the accident. She figured of course Jean hadn't divulged such a personal secret willingly...and Edward had never been around when anything like this had happened.

"Na... Na~ni?!" Snapping his head back and forth between Riza and Roy, he searched their features for an answer as to what was going on, why Jean had become weak so suddenly. Then it hit him. It must have been caused by some connection and memory of what had happened to him when he got paralyzed. Edward had felt the same sensations when he had thought about human transmutation. Something so horrifying could scar one's soul for eternity.

Frowning and chiding himself for saying something so bluntly without consideration for others, he looked to Riza who was telling him not to think any less of Havoc.

Smiling and nodding, he reached out and put a hand on Havoc's soulder. Smiling a bit at him, he looked to Roy, then Riza and then back to Havoc. He noted the look of utter horror on Havoc's face, and felt his stomach plummet to the lowest depths of hell.

He hadn't ever seen another man look so scared in his life. This was his fault, he was the cause of this upheaval. Frowning, he knitted his brow together in worry.

"Havoc... can. I..? Is there something I can do?" He looked frantically back and forth between Riza and Roy, hoping one of them would save him, perhaps tell him what to do to make things better. However, both appeared to be remaning silent for the time being.

He couldn't believe he had been stupid enough to say such things without second thought. He knelt down next to Roy who was infront of Havoc as well, hoping there was something he could do..

Armony squinted where she sat, her eyes travelling back toward the hallway. Something was happening... and she couldn't quite figure out what. She heard a few voices, though.

She turned her head again, focusing on her knees once more.

It's none of my concern. This is a military headquarters, I'm sure things happen here all the time...

But she couldn't keep her ears from listening. They strained, trying to pick up what was going on. All she could catch was the occasional "s" and "ch" sounds in the words spoken. They were too far from her, and speaking too softly. She swore under her breath.

Why was she so interested in what was being said? She mentally smacked herself.

None of your business, Armony.

She absently began to fidget with the fabric of the blanket the guard had given her. It was nice -- wool, perhaps. She rubbed a corner of it through her thumb and forefinger, zoning out.

Her mind travelled to what Adine had mentioned earlier. Her father.

Her father was a Professor? A famous scientist?

A poppy eyebrow quirked itself, shooting toward her hairline.

If he's a famous scientist, then how the hell did I end up with such problems?

She frowned.

And then there's Adine... I mean, she's so pretty! And she seems to be very good at whatever it is she does here... she's very respected...

Again, her eyebrow twitched. Was she defective or something? Everyone else in her family seemed so high-ranking and respectable... so what was wrong with her?

She deflated a little where she rested on the bench.

Adine-san said my father was a scientist... was he an alchemist?

Her thoughts lingered on her father, bouncing various ideas around in her head. She was curious about where she came from, that was for sure. Who wouldn't be? She didn't know anything of herself, other than she was Armony Eiselstein. And, now... that she was the niece of some very sohpistocated and glamorous secretary.

Now why didn't that quite add up?

((just putting in some NPCs for the sake of forward movement... ))

The sound of two pair of boots marched in unison not too far off. Jayden whirled as she heard the sound, her eyes seeking out the source. It was a pair of patrol soldiers, low ranked, and they were talking amongst themselves.

Her eyes narrowed and she pressed her back flat against a wall, her gaze straying to look at envy momentarily before looking back at the unaware pair of Soldiers.

"The Circut Fae? In Central?" One was saying, a cigarette hanging from his lips.

"Personally, I don't believe it... why would someone so chased after venture into the heart of the Military? Do you think she could be after the Brigadier General?" The other one added, his eyebrow raised.

"Who knows... But I'm sure he's aware of this assassin's presence... Let's just hope word doesn't get out to the public... Last think we need is a panic attack." The two continue on their path, walking by without a glance in the two intruders' direction.

Armony squinted again, her eyes following the silhouettes of the officers.

Circuit Fae? Assassin?

Good Lord, Central was an unfriendly town.

She eyed the door again, pondering escape yet again. But Adine hadn't returned yet...

...not that she was entirely sure she looked forward to coffee. She'd never really tried the caffienated liquid, but she'd smelled it. It smelled halfway decent...

She snapped her head up.

Wait, when had she been around coffee in the last four years? She hadn't.

Did that mean... had she just remembered something from before?

As little as it may have been -- the scent of coffee was nothing too special, after all -- it brightened her mood again. She'd remembered something!

She became lost in thought again, turning over ideas of her interactions with coffee. As silly as it may have seemed, suddenly the deep caramel-colored liquid meant a lot to her.

Maybe her father drank it? Maybe a friend of his? Fellow scientist?

Her mind ran at millions of miles a minute, suddenly overwhelmed with thoughts of... coffee.

She sat up, sitting with her back against the wall again. Her hands folded in her lap once more, she grinned lopsidedly at them. She had actually managed to remember something about her past....!

....who cares if it was only coffee?

Envy chewed on his lip and kicked a stone around as if it were an object of intrest. "So Circuit Fae is that famous?" He looked at at the darkening clouds. "Looks like she can come in handy."
He turned slighly and gave Jayden a sideways look. "But that does not mean we are friends....understand?" He looked around the building. "Geez! You go into public and you dont even have a disguise?!?!" He took a short pause as he confirmed there was nobody else in sight. "Well then, we cant have that! C'mon!" He walked briskly from the building's wall, beckoning her to follow.

Lieutenant Havoc

HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi
Smiling and nodding, he reached out and put a hand on Havoc's soulder. Smiling a bit at him, he looked to Roy, then Riza and then back to Havoc. He noted the look of utter horror on Havoc's face, and felt his stomach plummet to the lowest depths of hell.

He hadn't ever seen another man look so scared in his life. This was his fault, he was the cause of this upheaval. Frowning, he knitted his brow together in worry.

Havoc flinched when Ed touched his shoulder, and refused to look the boy in the eyes, instead squeezing them closed. He was too embarrassed to even make eye contact.

Here was a boy who had lost everything--his mother, his brother's body, his own arm and leg... He had even been sent to another plane of existence...! Edward Elric had been through so much more than Havoc could imagine, and the older man was the one on his knees?

Pathetic... he thought miserably. I'm so pathetic...

HaganeNoRenkinjutsushi
"Havoc... can. I..? Is there something I can do?" He looked frantically back and forth between Riza and Roy, hoping one of them would save him, perhaps tell him what to do to make things better. However, both appeared to be remaning silent for the time being.

Havoc's eyes snapped open wide and he jerked his head toward Edward.

"Wha...?" he managed to stammer, shocked.

Edward...wasn't going to make fun of him? He wasn't going to make some snide comment about Havoc being a sissy, the way Havoc had always teased the boy for his short stature? He wasn't going to leap onto this golden opportunity to return all the hard times he had been given?

The sick feeling in the pit of his stomach waned slightly at the look in Edward's eyes. It wasn't a look of pity, it wasn't a look of superiority. It wasn't a look of 'hey, look, who's the big man now?'... It was a look that told Havoc that Edward understood, and that alone was enough. Edward knew how it felt to be haunted by a traumatic event from long ago. Edward could relate to falling prey to the phantasms in one's head for the acts of bygone days.

Havoc brushed off Mustang's hand, and shook his head at Edward.

"No," he said, closing his eyes and lowering his head, "there's...nothing you can do. I have to be strong enough to get over this on my own."

He moved to stand, and Mustang scowled and took the younger man's arm to assist him. Havoc swatted at the brigadier general again, and Roy made a face before throwing his hands in the air and turning his attention back to Riza, grumbling sourly something about Havoc being an ungrateful b*****d.

He took a deep breath, held it, then released it and placed his hand over his chest, as if he could physically slow his racing heartbeat that way. Then he glanced up at Edward and flashed a wan smile.

"I feel like an a**," he said honestly to the younger man, shaking his head. "It's like...anytime something brings back the memory of that day...it's as if something takes over my body and I just...totally lose it. It just fails me, completely. I never knew that limbs could fail you that way for no external reason." He snorted sarcastically. "That's...pretty lame, huh? I mean...you've seen hell a hundred times worse than I have, and it doesn't drop you the way it drops me..."

He leaned back on the wall and reached for a new cigarette with shaking fingers. Sticking it in his mouth but not lighting it, he shut his eyes and sighed gustily.

"How did you get so strong, Boss?" he asked almost inaudibly, his hands still trembling. "How did you put it behind you? How did you move forward so far...?" He opened his eyes and met Edward's yellow gaze. "I... I don't know if I can be that strong..."

((Jayden's hair is now going to be jet black... her right eye grey and her left green. For the sake of NOT having three red heads running around. Ok? Ok... Oh... and if someone is "pie eyed" it means that they have two different colored eyes.))

Envy chewed on his lip and kicked a stone around as if it were an object of intrest. "So Circuit Fae is that famous?" He looked at at the darkening clouds. "Looks like she can come in handy."

"I could care less if I'm famous or not. I do what I do... that's all I need." She shrugs, waiting for the sounds of the boots to dissapate into the evening night.

Envy-san

He turned slighly and gave Jayden a sideways look. "But that does not mean we are friends....understand?" He looked around the building.

Jayden allows a laugh to escape her lips. It isn't that of a child, but that of an adult, merely amused and content at the same time.

"I don't have friends, remember?"

Taking her steps lightly, she crosses her arms again.

"A disguise?" She asks, her eyebrow raised. She peered at him with her pie eyed gaze.

"Why yes.... a disguise." Envy stared at her with eyebrows raised. then, with lightning speed, he took the sword from its sheath at her side and fingered the edge, as if testing to see how sharp it was. "Howabout we cut off all your pretty hair, and put a large scar across your face?" He said in a comical voice. "Oooo, ya, then we put you in goofy clothing and give you a new name and a heavy accent!!!!" Jayden watched in disgust as Envy 'skipped' around with the sword, naming off things they could do to her for a disguise, all of which, caused pain and/or embarrassment.

"Besides... there's none who know my appearance..." She smirks, her two toned eyes gleaming. "I don't leave any witnesses."

"Oh? It was fun you wanted? My appologies." Her grin widens.

"I don't suppose a little hunting would go over too well with miss large and in charge, now would it?" She asks, somewhat rhetorically, and pensive.

"Hmm... I've told you about my past... care to reciprocate? I must admit I'm curious." She takes hold of the handle of her sword, unlodging it from the ground in one motion and sheathes it again.

"And by the way... your speed in rather impressive. Though I'm sure you don't need me telling you that." With these words she leans on the wall beside him again, keeping a decent distance between the two.

Envy ignored the part about his 'speed', his mind immediatly went to the quetion about his past.

One eye opened and stared at her. It had changed back into its normal form, catlike and a violent shade of purple. It filled with rage as he spat out words that could do more damage than poison itself. "I owe you nothing!" He said forcefully. "For your life, you paid your story, and I do not owe you anything!" Envy's hand, which was on his knee, grasped it tightly as his voice filled with pure hatrid.

There was a pause and Envy closed his eye. The last thing he wanted to talk about was HIS past. Anything but that. Its not like he had much of a past to begin with. I want to forget....
