Hey Vikes, my ancestry started BOTH wars! ; D
My redeeming nationalities: Irish, English, American, Cherokee Indian.Dude, everyone and their mother has Cherokee in them. My Navajo friend pointed that out... In kind words he said "Cherokees decided not to fight the white man by becoming the equivalent to the Japanese Brides at the end of WWII". ARE YOU CALLING MY TRIBE WHORES? scream crying heart But in all seriousness, I doubt 99.99999% of the people who say they're Cherokee really are. People think they got Native American blood in them, and are ally like "WELLZ, IT MUST BE CHREOKEE111 LAWL11!"

The lame alliance systems did. They were all pretty heated. They were just looking for a spark to get things started. The Black Hand was that spark. What country the duke came from doesn't really matter.
But, if it makes you feel better Viking, my/Griggle's people were killed by the thousands.... and our country/ies don't exist anymore.
Oh, and Monarchies FTL.

A war was bound to happen. Europe was a powder keg. If the duke wasn't killed, something else would have started it.
I like to look deep when it comes to reasoning. "Hungary started the war!" is the opinion of someone looking at WWI at face value.
Kinda like Hitler didn't start WWII, the end of WWI did. D:

The fall of the Monarchies made way for folk like Hitler, Stalin, and other monstrous people on the previous century. And Yet, England who maintained their monarchy (granted, the Royal Family became more figurehead like rather than political), and they turned out just fine. As did Japan after WWII.

Griggle990 Well its a good thing that they left during the mid 1800s. My mom's side is Cherokee/English. They were here from the get-go. Later on, it was mixed with the Irish.
My dad's family was from Ireland/Germany/Hungary, and they came over here around 1900.

D:If you get down to it, while Europe was teetering on the war, it still could be pinned on Austria-Hungary for starting the war, The Black Hand just didn't just pull a name out of a hat and decided to assassinate them. They had reasons to do so.

If Germans weren't so bitter/angry/hated, and WWI ended peacefully, Hitler would just be another nut running around like a KKK member that didn't get recognized.

Kinda like Hitler didn't start WWII, the end of WWI did. D:Yah since Germany was blammed for everything, that had to pay everyone for all of the damages they caused. This brought germany into a very bad depression which Hitler took to his advantage. Hitler actually brought Germany into a golden age by providing tons of jobs, and raised the class is so many people. But most of those new jobs was for making, guns, tanks, planes, and experimental rockets. Then after about 10 years of planning and production, Hitler started WWII.

Yes, Hitler came to power because of the results of WWI at as you said "face Value", however, few people acknowledge that Germany was rising again economically before Hitler came into power. So really, it wasn't because the Germans needed someone to get things going again for them, they were doing just fine at that before he came to power, he was able to pander to the people who generally were feeling mistreated. But even so, if Wilhelm had stayed in power. The atrocities that were committed by Hitler would never have happened. I consider Wilhelm's removal from power to be the most devastating move in the 20th century.

The Books don't seem to mention that German was actually doing quite well economically when Hitler took power. Germany has tons of economic potential, lots of trades that can bring a lot of money into the country, and those trades were well utilized before Hitler took power. The History Books want people to think that Hitler took power because of desperation, when in reality, he took power because he was what the people wanted.
