Nodding to Amuriel, Maelthra got up onto his feet and stretched before moving a few feet away from his mate. As he combusted into flames, he quickly shifted into his true form where he then nuzzled his love tenderly.
"I'll be back as soon as I can. Be careful here ok? Don't strain yourself too much..."
He licked her face lightly before stepping back and stretching his wings out. After a few powerful downbeats, he was in the air and taking off. Hopefully the hunt won't take him too long this time. Not only did he want to return to his mate quickly, but he wanted to eat as soon as possible as well. It was going to take him some time to prepare his food as well, so the sooner he caught his prey, the better.
"I can almost smell the deer meat now..."

"I'll be alright love," Amuriel replied, smiling and nuzzling her mate in return after he had shifted forms.
"Good hunting!" she called after him as he took flight. Silently, she wished him good luck, hoping he would catch a good deer or whichever prey he happened to be wanting.
Stretching out again, she watched him until he faded from sight, and she shifted nervously. Her legs ached for movement, and looking back in the direction Maelthra had left, she shifted forms and gingerly shook herself. A short walk wouldn't hurt, she decided, as long as she didn't move too far from the cave and returned before Maelthra did. She didn't want to worry him.
So looking toward the small trail she generally took, she wandered into the woods.

About an hour went by before Maelthra came soaring back to the cave with a young deer in his claws. Slowly, he descended back onto the earth and landed lightly. Grinning at the kill, a part of him wanted to start wolfing it down right then and there. But he knew better than that.
Still, the temptation was there. And the scent of fresh meat when he was feeling quite ravenous didn't help with it. Though, once he began to cook the meat, the scent would end up being even more overwhelming to him.
Shifting forms so that he could start cutting up the meat, he glanced about to see where Amuriel was at the moment.

Ambling through the woods, Amuriel breathed deeply. Her body, though laden, felt much better to be moving again. As she wandered, she looked around, spotting various animals and sometimes a few with their young. Smiling, she enjoyed the walk, until her stomach began to churn hungrily again.
Sniffing along the path, she caught the scent of blueberries, making her hunger increase. A couple of berries wouldn't ruin her appetite, she thought. So sliding between the trees and away from the path, she headed for the scent. When she reached the bush, she pushed her head between the branches and carefully pulled back out, a few berries in her mouth.

After a quick scan of the area, Maelthra soon saw that Amuriel was nowhere to be seen. Alarmed by this, he wondered where she could have gone. And for a moment or so, he worried that the news he had told her ended up driving her off.
Shifting as this thought disturbed him greatly, he quickly shifted forms once again. The other thing that got him worried was that during the short amount of time that he was gone, someone came by and managed to abduct his mate. So quickly, he took to the skies once again to begin searching for her.
Though, to his relief, it hardly took him long at all before he spotted her on the forest floor below.
"Amuriel!" he called out before beginning his descent and landing by her, "Here you are... I got worried something happened..."

After eating the berries, Amuriel realized it was probably time for her to begin heading back. So turning, she started to make her way back to her and Maelthra's cave home. When she heard her name, felt a gust of wind, and something heavy landed next to her, she suddenly became frightened and tried to bolt. It never occurred to her that it could be her own mate. She believed he still would have been hunting at that moment.
When she heard his voice again, however, she jerked to a halt and snorted loudly, her heart racing.
"Maelthra!" she said, huffing since she had ran a short distance before halting. Walking back toward him, she continued, "I'm sorry. I...really didn't expect you to get through hunting already! I needed a little exercise."

With a sigh of relief, Maelthra stepped towards her and nuzzled her neck lightly. He noticed that she almost bolted away from him but quickly stopped as he spoke more to her.
"Sorry... for startling you... I just got worried you may have been abducted or something like that... But I'm glad you just were out for a stroll..."
Chuckling nervously he glanced back at the direction of their cave. Then with a smile, he looked back at Amuriel and neatly folded his wings against his backside.
"I did end up hunting pretty quickly.. but I got lucky this time around I guess. But... that just means more food sooner.. though if you want we can walk around a little longer before heading back."

Amuriel walked back to Maelthra and rested her head against his shoulder lightly. "I'm fine love. Don't worry, alright? Who would have abducted me in this wood?"
She chuckled nervously and nuzzled her face into his wing, "No, I'm hungry too, and I was heading back just before you came. Let's go home together then?"
She smiled and tried to shake away the lingering nervousness from his arrival, and looking back at him, she began trotting back toward their cave.

"... Drachus? I hear he can be quite a... um... yeah... "
Shaking his head to himself with a weak chuckle, he just turned his attention back to Amuriel and smiled. Nodding to her, he looked back towards the way that led back to their home.
"That sounds good to me."
With a soft grin, he watched her begin to trot before moving along behind her to keep up. Once they reached their home again, he shifted forms so that he could really begin working at the carcass he had just brought back minutes ago.
"You can go ahead and start getting your food ready.. I'll take me a little while to get things on my end all prepared. But... how is your stomach now by the way?"

"Hm? Drachus? What about him?" Amuriel responded, tilting her head as she walked into the cave. She shook herself lightly and transformed in a sparkle of ice, kissing Maelthra tenderly after he shifted as well.
"My stomach is feeling alright," she said, grinning. "I'm just hungry is all."
Giving him another quick kiss, she picked up her square of hide and walked over to her little garden. Tonight she was craving... cucumbers. And tomatoes. And... well, lots of things! Deciding to make herself a salad, she began to gather the needed ingredients. Once she had gathered the vegetables, she walked with them back over to Maelthra, then sat down at the edge of the fire pit, preparing her food.

"Well.. I just heard he likes the more... carnal pleasures if you know what I mean.."
Blinking before smiling as she kissed him, Maelthra nuzzled her before watching her walk over towards her garden. As he watched her, he saw that she somehow seemed even more beautiful with the thought of her carrying his children in her belly. It was a strange thought at the same time however as he still wasn't too used to the notion of being a future father.
"But that's good."
Smiling once again, he found his stone knife and began to cut away at the deer. It took him some time, but he eventually had a neat pile of meat off to one side, and the hide and bones off to the other. So then he got up to wash the blood off of his hands, and to go store the various parts in their respective locations.
After that was all set, he picked out a slab of meat, as well as a few herbs before beginning to cook.
"I got some strong tendons that I think would work well for the bowstring," he mentioned with a grin.

"Oh, I see..." Amuriel mumbled, staring down at her little heap of salad and blushing lightly. "I never would have thought that of our Guardian."
There was something about imagining Drachus as lusty that was very unsettling.. Shaking her head, she looked up and watched him cook, enjoying the smells of his food. She couldn't eat meat, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy the smell of his food whenever he cooked.
"It smells nice!" she said, grinning at him. "Though... I'll stay with my salad."
Blinking at his last comment, she widened her smile at the thought of possibly getting a bow soonish. "That's great. I wonder what the bow itself will look like..."

"Neither have I until I heard some people say it.."
Shaking his head at the thought of Drachus coming in and taking his mate away, he just worked at cooking his food. The meat smelled quite delicious indeed and the scent made him feel hungrier than he was a few moments ago.
"Hehe thanks love. THough I'm sure your salad is wonderful as well."
Once the meat finished cooking, he took it away from the fire and waited a few moments.
"Hm.. I'm not sure.. but I can't guarantee that it'll look too good..."

"I'm sure it'll look just fine," Amuriel said, smiling. "Even if it is crude, as long as it works, right?"
Right, she thought to herself. Her first bow, she realized, probably would not look spectacular, but... as long as it was enough for her to practice and train with, it would be enough. And... after all, her love would have created it. Even if she became proficient enough to ask Ber for a better version, the one Maelthra made for her would always be special.
"I hope I'm good at the bow," she chuckled, leaning down to sniff at her salad. "Maybe it'll help me out someday too."
Without realizing it, she drug herself back to the thought of what Maelthra had confessed to her. Why did she have to remind herself of that worry? She hadn't meant that any skill she learned with the bow would be necessary against her own mate, but now... she wondered. Would it be helpful? No. She couldn't. She wouldn't ever hurt him even if he was attacking her. She couldn't. He was her love..
Gritting her teeth, she trembled and clenched her fists against her head. She couldn't.

"I'm sure you'll be great with it."
Maelthra was about to begin eating his food, but out of the corner of his eyes he saw Amuriel clutching her head. Alarmed with this, he set the meat down before quickly moving over to her to embrace her.
"Amuriel! What's wrong...?"
At the moment it hadn't quite occurred to him that the things he said earlier would have been the thing that's troubling his mate. But what it was that bothered her exactly wasn't his primary concern as he just wanted her to feel well. So he held her close in an attempt to calm her down somehow. It seemed sudden and almost random that she would be like this now.
