Triton took a seat beside Ryu as he chuckled at the sight of Feng. It looked like the only person who hadn't arrived yet was Ulrich then he mused.

Haradhel finished portioning out the food and smiled at everyone. "Dig in," she invited them as she took her own seat. "And help yourselves if you want more, there's lots to go around."

"Mmmm," Aliya grinned. "My favourite." She grabbed a slice of bread and started buttering it. "Oh, Donovan," she said brightly in the tone that always seemed as if she was too happy, "question for you! Which style of riding did you want Feng and Ryu to learn?"
She added some butter to her green potatoes as well and stirred it in.

Lin took a stab (slab) of buttery and put it on her plate before picking off pieces of the bread and wiping it in the butter since she didn't have a knife small enough to do so. She munch happily on it before deciding to take a swipe of the bread into her potatoes as well.
"Handless," Donovan replied, "Since they are going to need to be able to use weapons while riding, that would be for the best."

Aliya nodded. "Hands free ... good. That usually means bareback, is that fine, too? Or would you prefer them to have saddles?"
Though the stupid things had a tendency to get in the way, she mused as she started eating.

Donovan watched as Lin ate her food in a very active way since she was so small. He had to turn to cut up her meat though before she managed to somehow end up under it.
"Bareback is fine," he replied.
In fact it would probably be an advantage, to some people it was not easy, but if that was the way they were going to learn to do hands free, they might as well.

Elrohir returned then, shirtless as he had always been in the Southland, and he gave Haradhel a quick peck on the cheek before taking a seat next to her.
"Ulrich not here yet?" he commented curiously.

Aliya nodded at Donovan, then looked over at Elrohir. "Ada's always late for lunch, you should know that by now," she laughed. "He'll be here, don't worry."
She found herself amused by the way Lin was eating her food.

Lin stabbed her meat with her fork like it was a spear triumpetly. Though there was probably much more food on the plate than what she could eat. As if the green balls of mash potatoes were any hint.
"Does he tend to lose track of time?" Donovan inquired absently.
Since he didn't know Ulrich's full work habits actually. Though he eyed Lin's plate as she was doing interesting things with her fork and knife. He took a bite of his food before added as an after thought.
"Lin, don't make snowmen out of your potatoes."
She looked up at him as she was putting bits of bread onto the 'head'

Suddenly there was the sound of the outside door once again, and a moment later Ulrich entered the dining room and quickly took the last empty seat, directly across from Aliya.
"Sorry I'm late," he apologized, smiling around at everyone. "Just taking care of some last minute business."
He turned to Donovan. "If you're planning on taking a trip while you're here, I have someone who would be excellent to take with you. Best fighter on the ranch."

"You're always late," Haradhelp pointed out, just as Aliya had done only a moment before. "And always you have the same excuse. Come on, be honest. You just don't like sitting with us all the time."
Elrohir tsked and shook his head slowly. "Shame on you, Ulrich. You're insulting my wife."
Then the moment passed and he asked, "Halmir?"

Donovan raised a brow as he paused in mid motion to stop Lin from playing with her food anymore.
"Halmir?" he asked in tones that spoke his curiousity.
Lin noticing her Daddy was now very occupied proceeded to put crust buttons onto her snowman. She looked up at him again to see if he was paying any attention and upon seeing he had not stuck a finger into the head and drew a smiley face onto her snowman.

Feng's eyes lit up at Donovan's question, "He's one of the fighters," she explained even though that had been a given, "And he looks like he's been through a lot, though he kind of talks a bit funny," she looked thoughtfully, "It's not that he has an accent he... uhm...."
She tried to think of a good word for it, perhaps obsessive wasn't the right word. He wasn't exactly touched in the head, besides Feng would have not thought of that as a term to use.
"It's like listening to someone who keeps spouting those old romantic poetry I had to read in class," she finally explained.
Ryu coughed at that and stared at his sister, "What gives you that idea?" "Well isn't talking about beauty the main subject in romantic poetry? Well.. .most of them?"

Ulrich had already been exposed to the man's views of Feng, and had endured over a year's worth of his opinions of Aliya, so he had no reason to disagree with what Feng was saying.
"He's the best fighter we have," he said firmly as he began eating. "The best fighter in the Four Lands, I would even go so far as to say."
Aliya giggled and looked at Feng. "You really think he talks funny?" she asked curiously. "A lot of the older elves speak like him ..."

Haradhel looked slightly disappointed. "I haven't had a chance to spar with him yet," she said wistfully. "Elrohir won't let me ... and I can understand why. But trust me, after this baby is born ..." And she shot Elrohir a look that clearly said Just you wait ...
Elrohir raised one eyebrow. "We'll see," he retorted, but his eyes were filled with worry, not scorn.
