im looking forward to the new stern/vanguard veterans myself, that and the new scout bikes. i have already forbidden AJ from buying the Vets (he is 10, he copies eveything i do pretty much, although he has a great imagination, which is perfect for getting raw ideas that we can refine for my codex... but anyway, he started chaos when i started chaos, etc. so i have forbidden him from getting the new vets, lol) also, im liking the look of the honour guard squad. a champion with a unit of relic blade armed super marines sounds fun! shame there doesnt appear to be models for some of these new releases...

agree with above statment, if one were feeling adventerous, they could file all the U's off of the ultramarines honor guard, i, myself, am lookinkg forward to the Landraider Redeemer (S6 AP3 flamer FTW!), and the Landspeeder Storm

yeah, but that would involve buying marneus calgar, and nothing is worth that. (smurf hatred)

tbh, i dont want the redeemer, i dont like flame weapons, even thoguh they have been anti-nerfed in 5th ed and are now godlike weapons. i'll stick with plasma/melta thanks.

still, we might yet be suprised. everything in the current marines besides the drop-pod had a model. so maybe there are a few releases that GW hasnt shown yet.

The other models will be released a year or so from now, GW is spreading their releases to keep people waiting and interested.

what would involve buying calgar? if you mean the honor guard, no, because they are now a unit for any chapter, provided you take a chapter master

Actually, Honor Guard (including the Champion and Ancient) should be available through seperate blisters. Or so it was last time I checked...

I have officially decided that there are two chapters that I must make my sworn enemies and take all risks to destroy.

Ultramarines (I've already stated this) and Black Templars. Honestly...Templars are just too zogging hard to kill. Well...no. I shouldn't say that. They're just as hard to kill as normal Marines. Their vow for Universal Preferred Enemy is damned nice, though. Aside from that, the Emperor's Champion's ability to call out the Character in a squad is overly useful.

*cough* Wasn't so useful for my opponent earlier tonight, though. His champion took on my Sorcerer Lord. Two wounds dealt to me, one dealt to him. Force weapon test and...dead champion.

same here, 'cept i got to paint one of the vanguards on friday during college at lunch. unfortunatly, it needed to be ultramarines, lol

@-Ianator: i have never seen blistered honour guards before... as the only rules for them were as a retinue for Marneus Calgar.

@-Paul: i played BT for a while. they are really hard for the player, since whenever you try to kill something across the board, your opponent just kills one model with an expendable unit and half my army charges that unit instead... grrrr... so instead i have made another custom chapter (my 2nd)

Hrm...I'm liking that idea. *makes a note to do all of the death shooting at them with 'nilla CSM* I'd rather lose a 150 point unit than one of my 250 pt 10 Man Noise Marine squads.

I just peeked through the marine codex...

And my LORD! THEY ARE TURNING INTO FLUFF MARINES! D:

They're getting better, and get tons of new special rules (making them less beginner friendly in my oppinion) but the sweetness comes with a price~

They're awefully expensive, but it looks like they're still flexible. twisted

I hear that the Sternguard are like Death Watch, any confirmations?
PostPosted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 9:48 am

From what I've seen, it looks that way to me as well, that they're starting to live up more to their fluff.

I likez it. 3nodding

@Jason- Pretty much. They have the different ammo types, at the least.

Yeah, I must've been thinking about the old bitz orders. Can't really do that anymore...

You noticed too? I intend to convert a squad into Deathwatch and use them as Sternguard.
