Shane went to the door and opened it. "Hello?" he asked, not seeing Jake and not yet recognizing Leigh.

Jake followed Leigh inside. "Hey, Shane," he said.
Shane nodded slowly, not bothering to ask why Jake had gone outside. "Leigh," he said in greeting. He tried to lead her to where he and Hope had been.

"Why don't you sit?" Shane asked, motioning to a chair. "So, Leigh, why did you come?" He sat next to Hope.
Jake stayed standing.
