I'm literally afraid to go to sleep because nightmares maybe >__<
Why is it that Persona games can have like a million people die and it's like whatever, but when death happens in Zelda or Pokemon it's really frightening? I guess because they seem like they should be for everyone, even kids?
Something is extra creepy about RBY and OoT/MM. It's hard for me to pinpoint
Kids can handle death, though? There are plenty of kids' stories about historical events or the death of a friend/family member/pet/etc. Or it's a fantasy/sci-fi story about a villain who does kill some people but ultimately is defeated in the end. I'd never have the story end with, say, the main character dying to the villain and nothing getting better (children's stories do need to be hopeful), but a lot of things we like to insist are taboo for kids to read about aren't actually going to scar them for life.
I'd argue all of those games handle the topic properly as entertainment targeted at children. Pokemon lets you save the channelers, put Marowak's ghost to rest, and eventually defeat Team Rocket. And some of those ghosts are scary, but your pokemon will protect you and if you manage to catch them you can be friends. OoT and MM tend to either have ghosts with last wishes for you to fulfill so they can pass on or some sort of problem that you can fix by defeating the next/final boss. And MM letting you reset time means that you can always try again to set everything right, even if the swordmaster is hiding in his dojo or Anju's regretting not staying around to wait for Kafei. All of them have dark moments, but you can always make things better.

About to play Majora's Mask... again...
I'm just gonna do a few sidequesty things before going ahead into the fortress, and it'll probably be boring. I didn't know you could get a mask that makes guards not throw you out, like holy s**t! Need. I hate suffering from heart attacks and, by extension, stealth missions in video games.
I know DK: Tropical Freeze comes out today so Matthew will probably be off doing that. But that's OK.
I will stream even if no one watches because not doing so would just seem wrong at this point.
Good luck with finishing Majora's Mask! I probably won't be around for the stream, but I hope everything goes well.
And yeah, most of the masks in the game have some sort of bonus ability. If you haven't, it's worth finding a list of the masks and their effects to see if there's anything that you want to get. Or just get all of them so you can become Fierce Deity Link and make the final boss fight incredibly easy.
