I like the sweet potatoes," Luca said with a smile. "What's yours?"
He could work from home? Then why--why did He get up at an ungodly hour on full moons to head to work? Maybe it was an only around Christmas thing. And what did she even get him? She hadn't picked out a present.

"The same," Lori said, "Until the desserts come out, anyway. I bet between all the fae here we could eat them all."
It was, in fact, a special Christmas thing based upon the fact that most people in the world preferred to be with family and ended up spreading out. Besides, he worked from HQ because it was the only place he could be among friendly faces while in Big Scary Wolf form. His vacation home was the same.

The day wet as Toby had predicted. People ate too much, partook of pie, and then generally sat around playing games until people started to filter out. Luca and Lori came to say goodbye a bit later than most, as the best friends did, and Toby gave then each a hug and then said:
"Hey, do you guys have any plans for Christmas?" He knew they only barely did.

Luca was surprised by the hug. He returned it after a moment, and was smiling brightly. "Christmas plans? We were gonna do something at Lori's." Get a tree, watch some movies... "Why?"

"Oh! Well if you have plans I don't want to interrupt them, but the three of us are going out to New England for Christmas and we wanted to invite you guys this time." He smiled. He knew what their plans were. Tree, bumming out, feh. Let them have some snow!
Dari smiled and nodded.
Lori's brows raised. What? Really? He'd never been invited before, that was for sure, but then it had always just been Toby and Dari, and now they had Maia to contend with. He turned to Luca in question. Did he want to?

Luca's eyes widened. "Me?" he asked. Lori he understood, they'd known him for years. But him?

"Yeah, you, Red" Toby said with a smile. He would have been more of a smartass with is response if Luca wasn't so new to the group. "You're family now."
Lori smiled. It was amazing how quickly Toby had taken to his new boyfriend. Luca must really be a damn good egg to bet on for a vacation in a month.

Luca was so touched at being included, at being part of the family, he gave Toby another hug. "We'd love to come." He'd never been quick to warm up to someone unless they had something in common, but Toby was so nice!
He released the werewolf and smiled to Lori. "I've never been to New England."

Toby laughed and hugged returned the hug, patting Luca's back.
"Good! You'll have your own room and everything. It's a nice big place." Thanks to Dari's generosity. At the mention of having never been to New England, he cocked his head. "When's the last time you saw snow?"
Lori shook his head. "Feels like forever."

Snow? He was going to see snow? He hadn't since he'd come to Arizona. "Ages," he said. He took Lori's hand and gave it a squeeze. "Thank you so much for inviting us Toby," He said, smiling.

"Of course! Once I know the dates for sure I'll tell you so you can take it off." The library would be easier to skip out on than the Bureau, especially as a department head, but he couldn't remember the last time Lori had taken a vacation either. Years ago? Maybe? He could just be remembering an especially busy weekend.
"Have a safe drive home," Dari said.
Lori nodded. "Thanks. See you guys soon!"

It was only a few days later when Lori stood in line at Luca's favorite cafe. Luca had really turned him on to the place. He'd had no idea it even existed, but he had to admit it was pretty cool to actually watch someone make the hell out of your coffee. He paid the friendly barista and headed out with their coffee in one of those cardboard carriers.

A sprite appeared from the alleyway, giving Lori a warm but not quite to his eyes smile. "Hey! I recognize you. You're Lucasi's boy." He paused, scratching his head in an what was meant to be an awkward manner. "Look man, I dunno how to tell you this. But we were together last night."

Fae. Unseelie. Lori was able to recognize that right away, but didn't recognize the man himself. A few questions lay on Lori's mind. Who the ******** are you? How did you find me?
"How do you know who I am?" he asked, unbelieving. Yeah, right. Luca with another man. Pfft. But who the ******** was this guy and why was he lying like that?

"I've seen you and Lucasi around." That part was honest, at least. "Wanted to make sure he'd broken from his cheating ways. But he didn't tell me anything about you. Not until afterwards..." He wrinkled his nose slightly. "Leftovers. You know?"
