GW announced that the Armoured Company list was no longer official. So you can still use it, but by that notion you can still play Squats.

It would be alot harder to play squats, they never had any rules released after second ed.

The AC rules are still rather new. Sure, they still exist in IA, but tourney's still don't allow IA armies. Even RTTs prefer the chapter approved AC rules to the imperial armor ones. Besides, for some reason, a tank ace seems way cooler than a commissar tank, for being pretty much the same unit.

Genestealer cults work, because they had official rules in 3rd edition. That means they are compatible with 5th. I'd just swap out the old genestealer entry and throw in the new one, and maybe make broodlords avaliable as an hq instead of the fat old genestealer patriarch. They were pretty much just like a tyranid version of lost and the damned. They had the only civilian car rules in the whole game. "Genestealer cult Limo." They could take "looted imperial guard tanks" and had an entry for cultists that matched guardsmen.

Speaking of lost and the damned, whatever happened to that ultimately awesome army? do the rules from the eye of terror book still hold water? Do we just use Iguard rules and say they're evil now?

I wonder if they'll ever release rules for allying armies like in the DH/WH books. A guard army that's a slave to the hivemind like in that one caiphus cain book, or how about blood pact or sons of sek chaos traitors? they had stalk tanks (defilers, pretty much) and other units only allowed through the chaos books. How about an imperial world that's all gone to the Tau Empire, they'd no doubt raise their standard issue guns against their former masters. Is it too odd to think that a leman russ wouldn't work alongside a broadside battlesuit?

Lost and the Damned was a popular choice before GW killed off the Eye of Terror codex. Sadly all LatD speculation has been killed by Jervis who claimed that they are an Apocalypse army from now on.

Again, the only current legal lists of Traitor Guard can be found in Imperial Armour 5 (Renegades) and Imperial Armour 6 (Khornate Renegades).

As for Gue'vesa, GW published rules for them ages ago. Basic guardsmen with one or two pulse rifles in between. Imperial Armour 3 has rules for indentured mining work gangs (much like the hive gangs found in the Armageddon codex, with an Ogryn however) and new Gue'vesa with the squad leader being able to take a pulse weapon.

And my roommate has all those mutants just sitting around in a box. Shame shame.

someone please find me those genestealer cult rules!

Okay, you proved your point on the roughriders, but can you convince GW to make some models that don't make me want to vomit? The forgeworld ones are cool, If I were rich I'd rock those death riders, although the tallarn animals have giant droopy butholes. Gross. Thanks alot for that, FW.

I don't think that any of us could convince GW to make more models unless we started kidnapping their families. However, the models for the Guard are all in good shape. The only ones that they have that would raise any dismay (as far as I'm concerned) would be the old Ogryn models. That can be avoided by buying the newer models released for the Ogryn Auxilia apocalypse formation.

All the good models were already made. GW did it's best in the late 90s. Now everything just looks weird or they're trying too hard to make it GRIMDARK.

Buy eBay.

Also, don't use the Forge World ones. Other than being somewhat ugly themselves, they're larger than the typical rough rider's horse with a larger, round base. This means that on the whole more people can assault you if you're in a standard charging formation.

Serebrate, the solution to the problem that you put up (of more units being able to tear into the Riders due to their larger base) is solved by taking the FW Riders and putting them on Cavalry bases. If they're not quite long enough and you have the bases/time to do it, you could cut and extend the bases to make them the proper size.

Are you talking about the Death Korps ones, the Tallaran ones, or both?

Oh, and have you ever seen the original Rough Riders? I'd love a remake of those models.

I'm talking about the Tallarn Mukaali Riders. They're supplied on oblong 60-80mm bases, so the standard rectangular cavalry base wouldn't fit unless you glued them to it's feet like a pair of skis. The Mukaali are much larger than a horse, and therein lies the problem.

On a side note, what does any fluff-conscious person think of my Praetorians utilizing Basilisks? Mortars seem appropriate, but I don't think a giant artillery cannon is very Praetorian in nature. Unless I can think of some clever modification to the main gun and chassis.

Ah, I had assumed that you were talking about Death Riders. My only suggestion on the Mukaali to give them a smaller base would be to find the fantasy size of base that's wide enough to fit them and then cut/splice two together to form the proper length.

As a Tallarn player, I gotta say, The Mukaali are the ugliest ******** things ever to crawl out of an ork's a**. (Although after seeing them, I bet an ork probably could crawl out of a mukaali's a**. They're big and droopy enough. Yuck.)

I totally love the old Tallarn roughriders, But I hate the Idea of Horses. C'mon guys, it's the fourty-first millenium. I guess rats could stow away on ships so that explains that, but HORSES? C'mon. When a colony ship lands on an alien planet, they sure as hell didn't bring horses along, and they sure as s**t didn't find them there. I put all my old tallarn Roughriders on lizardmen cold ones, and they look awesome to the extreme. I green stuffed over the lizardmen glyphs, hung space marine, ork, and imperial pouches from them, and painted them dark flesh with beached bone scales. They look sweet.

Speaking of which, there was a GW tutorial that taught how to make Motorcycles for the guardsmen. I can't find it for the life of me, though.

Piss.

Conscripts, five hundred and fifty conscripts.
Oh the misses, oh the five hundred and thirty five dead conscripts.
Daemons had a field day.
Thoughts on conscripts?
