In case you didn't know, Jack's computer broke. He has no idea when he will be able to go on AIM again.

Arg I want to buy a new binder but it would cost me almost $50. I don't even have a way to buy things online anyways. -pout-

I think I need to start getting on gaia a bit more. And by gaia I really mean the gay guild, mostly. I am so busy all the time, but I think I can take time out of my day to get on gaia a bit now and again.
So anyway, things are going good for me some of the time, not so good the rest of the time... which is most of the time, but yeah, this isn't the rant thread so I'll try to leave that stuff out as much as I can. *tries to think of something positive to say...* I'm going to be getting my name legally changed soon. That should be good. My mom refuses to try my chosen name (which happens to be the middle name SHE GAVE ME) but other people are getting better at it. The pronoun switching might be harder to come by, but you know, baby steps and all that.
Oh hey, and Nios - I just bought a binder myself. From underworks.com. Which one are you looking at that costs $50?

I'm looking at the double compression binder for $29.99. I'm not sure what that is Canadian. Add the $16 shipping and I'm looking at an empty pocket.
I've yet to ask my mother to call me by my chosen name. But I am using the chosen name she suggested. I'm not out to the rest of my family.

Ah right, Canadian $50, not American $50. *understands now* Yeah, they can be expensive, but I've heard they're really good (the double compression binders from underworks). I'm getting my first binder, but I chose the tri top. I hope it's good!

They are really good. I already own one but it was second hand. A really kind post op ftm mailed it to me for free. Unfortunately because it is second hand it's quite stretched. I want to get a new one, possibly black.

My big issues were deciding on size and whether I wanted the tri or double. Everyone had different opinions so I finally just went with the tri and I'll see if it works for me.

I don't really know the differences. I hear people talking about the double compression most often and I already have one so I know what it looks like. I don't really feel like throwing money around just to experiment. But as I said I don't actually have a way of ordering one. I may ask my mother eventually but I'm quite scared of her reaction.

If I had the money I'd help you out, but I'm broke with a bunch of debt, so yeah, not so good for the donating items to fellow gender variant individuals.
The down sides I've heard: Double compression rolls up because it's too long, but if you make it longer you can tuck it in or something...? Tri Top is too short for some.
But yeah, I don't like tucking stuff in and I don't want to have to alter it and possibly ruin it, so I figured I'd risk the too short one first. I think I can return it if I don't use it, so if it's too terrible I will return it and get the double.

The double does roll up unfortunately. But what I do is I take the bottom of it and pin it up under my arms. It offers more binding that way as well.

I went to the local sex shop today. I'd been in there two or three times recently in the past month. This time I finally got the courage to ask the cashier if she knew of any trans support groups in the city.
There were four women at the desk. I walked up and said "I have a strange question" to which of course she laughed, as when you work at a sex shop, all you ever hear are strange questions.
She gave me an e-mail address of the unofficial host of an unofficial trans group. It's just for trans men. So hopefully I will finally be able to get some anwsers and stop feeling so alone here.
