Odd.
H decided that our DM system was too biased last year so he put a guy as Drum major. When he wasn't really suited for the job, it was just so it didn't look rigged toward female woodwinds. -_-

 For some reason, I don't deal with beggars as much as I used to, even when I'm wearing my Baby Seal Slippers. It's really strange.
We have drum major tryouts. There were two guys my freshman year, a guy and two girls my sophomore year, and a guy and a girl my junior year and senior year. All the girls have been woodwinds and all the guys but one were brass.

Our soon-to-be-not-assistant Drum Major is an oboe. But he played pit/cymbals for his marching.
And our voted-for/chosen-by-Hartmetz assistant DM for this season is a sax player. And she's really good. At both conducting and sax-ing. XD

My freshman year it was first chair alto sax. Female.
Sophomore year it was first chair flue. Female.
Last two years (zomg the same DM for two years? UNHEARD OF!) was first chair oboe. female.
Tomorrow is our senior lunch with Mr. Albert when we nominate people for our positions. I think the general consensus for DM is second chair clarinet. Male.
SCANDALOUS!

INDEED!
My grade, when we get to try out next year, will give H a run for his money. So many of us want to try out, it's not even funny. (the heck? It rhymed.)
PS: Nice new ava, Tuba. I take it your creativity has come back somewhat? Or you got tired of looking like a n00b? XD

Here's a better breakdown of our drum majors the past four years.
Freshman year: Guy - Bass Clarinet, Guy - Trumpet
Sophomore year: Guy - Trumpet (Same as previous year), Girl - Flute, Girl - Flute
Junior year: Guy - Trumpet (Same as the previous two years), Girl - Flute
Senior year: Guy - Baritone/Euphonium, Girl - Eb and Bb clarinet

Ah...lesse if I can remember what people've played...
First year the school was open (2003): Piccolo/Flute. She was the only one who wanted the job.
*don't know the other years*
Last year: DM- female sax, Asst. DM- female picc/flute.
Last season: DM- same picc/flute, Asst. DM- oboe Joe (who played percussion for marching band)
This season: DM- Oboe Joe, Asst. DM- Mari sax. XDD
H has it set up that the assistant DMs become the real Drum Major their senior year.
That way, we don't have the same one for two years in a row. Well, as full-fledged DM anyway...

Our trumpet drum major definitely deserved to do it as many years as he could. He was such an amazing person and an extremely talented drum major.

The only one of ours that deserved two years was the first one we had. I think she did, too, but I could be wrong,

Next year is the first time our school will have a drum major. Only one person is trying out. Guess who'll make it? rolleyes She pretty much scared everyone into not trying out. But with a 45 some person band the competition isn't too rough, ya know? xp

My band last year was 85 members not counting the guard and drum majors.
This year we're supposed to be close to that size again.
We should do something for that! Maybe...whoever is the 20K member gets a prize or something? We'd have to like, count, who we accept and stuff...so...nevermind...
