Riley sighed in grief. "I don't think I'll ever quite understand this family...Angel doesn't seem to care who I do it with so long as she's the only one I bite for pleasure."

Alek shrugged slightly. "To her, sex is just something that feels good. Biting is what's really intimate to her. The former she got from Val; the latter was mother's attempt at keeping her daughter's virtue intact."

Riley ran his tongue over his teeth, feeling his fangs extend in his mouth, like a child adjusting to the left over gap after losing a tooth. "...I'm getting hungry again. Looks like it's rabbits and deer until we find more people."

Riley closed his eyes in concentration, having not yet adjusted to hunting. His ears perked up and snapped his head around to see a rabbit hop away into some bushes. Then the juicy scent of deer reached his nose. It was a strange experience, suddenly picking up on such smells and sounds that he'd never pick up on before.

"The movements will be natural," Alek said quietly, his head tilting as he listened. "Hunting is a part of you now." Suddenly, a hand darted out, and he grabbed a rabbit, quickly snapping its neck. He slid a fingernail under its skin, peeling its fur away from its neck and then feeding quickly, rapidly discarding the body.

Riley felt like he was having an adrenaline rush, or whatever the vampire equivalent might have been, as he fetched his first prey from his first successful hunt. It was mostly just the rush of continuing to adapt to being not human. It was exhilerating though, and he was soon drinking from a young deer, finding it not as filling as the human he'd drank from after he'd completed the change.

Alek chuckled softly. "You know, there are alchemysts in the vampire homeland that are working on making a supplement that resembles human blood. So we don't have to feed."

Riley just blinked at Alek a few times. "I'm not sure how I feel about that...I mean, I just got turned, I've only fed twice, and only once have I actually hunted now, but that somehow feels like it would take the fun out of it..." he had to admit, who or whatever it was, it always felt good to plunge his fangs into another's flesh.

"I suppose if there's one vampire that doesn't like drinking from humans, it doesn't surprised me that there would be others. Kinda like some vampire version of PETA." Riley said, smiling a bit that such a comparison somehow made him feel better about his previous worries.
