Actually it's the ORLY owl...but yes I too thought digimon at first glance.
My child memory tells me it's a lesser version of Padamon...

they did. it got to a point where rather then using them like digital pokemon, the would merge with the digimon to mak this giant humaoid digimon that were superpowerful.
