Mariku chuckled, going over to Rei, putting a foot on her chest. "I've become really sick of you. Did you know that? Really, really sick of you." He ground his foot down, putting all of his weight behind it.

Rei screamed out in pain as the weight of his foot was placed on his chest. You could hear the sickining of her ribs being crushed under the weight. She squirmed barly being able to breath.

The weight suddenly seemed to be less. Mariku froze, looking briefly confused. "What the..." He muttered, though it was hard to speak. It was as though his jaws were clenched together. In a fashion similar to what had happened to Bakura earlier, Mariku was tossed backwards, like a ragdoll. Seto was glad Mariku had been having so much with his victims. He had been able to enter the house without being noticed, and locate his Millennium Rod. He decided that if he needed a way of making Bakura and Rei like him more, this was a good opportunity. He reached out with the Millennium Rod, taking complete control of the blonde's mind. This took a lot of energy out of Seto, but it was worth not having an angry blonde come attacking him. He commanded silently, then stepped aside as Mariku walked outside, his stride stiff and unnatural.

Once the weight was lifted rei gasped for breath blood bubbling from her lips.

Once Mariku was taken care of, Seto first went to Rei, who was obviously the one in the most need. <********. He's broken a few ribs..." He muttered, wishing like hell he was back at the palace, where healers could be summoned almost at once. "Hold still, and... just try not to move." He said, wondering how much he could really do for her.

Rei did her best to stay still as she coughed up bloood. Most all her ribs were broken.

A Month later and Ayiras neck had healed nicly. She had become alot quieter and she used to be and alot more grouchy. She often spent her time staring out on the balcony.

There was a something a little disturbing Seto noticed shortly after taking care of Mariku. The body hadn't been able to be found. He hadn't exactly made sure that he died, since he needed to tend to Rei and Bakura, but it didn't make sense. There was no way some random person could have broken his control, so the blonde must have died. But the body... Seto chose not to think about it. It didn't matter. He stayed on guard for a week or so, but once a month had passed, he had forgotten the blonde, and just hadn't mentioned anything to the others. Bakura and Seto's relationship improved, just a little. They tolerated each other, and rarely got into loud arguments. Away from the palace, away from other problems, Bakura had been able to relax. He became calmer, and a lot warmer towards his family. For whatever reason, during the past month he had grown to like his children as a nice father should. He was currently in the house, spinning Femi around, being careful not to make her too dizzy. Seto was sitting near the window, looking outside gloomily. He had grown quite comfortable here, almost enjoying the thief's family's company. He was waiting for some sign to return to the palace. He knew he was just dawdling now, that he could have left a week or more ago, but he didn't want to. Going to the palace meant, possibly, facing the pharaoh. He didn't know if Atem was still angry. He didn't know if Ayira was safe. He shut his eyes, trying to think of Ayira. He had been so stupid, to leave her. He couldn't remember her face very well. His heart throbbed painfully when he tried to remember.
For now, Seto glanced over at Bakura, who was playing with his daughter. He was glad that the thief wasn't as guarded and suspicious as before. Seto still didn't trust Bakura, and he was sure the thief was the same, but at least it was better to be around him. He wasn't tied up at night, anyway. He felt guilty for what pain and troubles he and the others at the palace had caused for Bakura. He propped his head up on one arm, his elbow on the window, deep in thought. Atem was a nervous wreck. Two of his priests had departed in such a short amount of time, and it wasn't exactly easy to replace priests. He had to bring in lots of willing people, and tried to see if the Millennium Eye would accept them. This meant lots of deaths. he Millennium Items were very picky about their owners, and if the person who handled the item wasn't strong enough, the item would destroy that person from the inside out. Seto had taken the Millennium Rod with him, so he only had the Millennium Eye to work with, but the progress was terrible. Nobody had yet proven to be strong enough for the Millennium Eye.
The pharaoh sat at his throne, holding his head in his hands. This... all of this was too much. He knew he couldn't do any of this on his own any more. Seto had been such a big help to him. Seto had known the inside workings of the palace, paying attention to the details. Atem hadn't done anything like that. He could give orders just fine, but he could sense that his people were starting to lose faith in their pharaoh. Egypt's glory was beginning to fade. Atem didn't want to be the cause of a disaster, but he couldn't think of any way to fix this. He needed Seto, but too much time had passed. The troops he sent out had come back with no clues at all. Seto could be anywhere in the world by now.

Nanu walkedinto the throne room. She had done her best to keep atem happy. Walking up to the throne she gently wraped her arms around him,giving him a kiss on the head.
Femi would laugh and giggle clapping her hands as her father sippened her around "birdy birdy!" she cooed pretending she was a bird. Rei was close by playing with kek who giggled as his mother tickled him.

Atem responded only a little to Nanu. He didn't want to be mean to her, didn't want to hurt her feelings, but lately he had been so concerned with other matters that he had been unable to be very affectionate. He looked up at her, his amethyst eyes duller than normal. "I don't know what to do anymore, Nanu... I screwed up terribly and I don't know how to fix any of this." Bakura slowed to a halt when he was starting to feel a little dizzy, and then set Femi down, plunking her next to her brother. He thumped down next to Rei, closing his eyes. "I must be getting old. Either I'm getting old, or that wild child has more energy than the sun itself." He groaned, dramatically throwing an arm over his eyes, wishing the room would stop spinning.

Rei let go of kek and he started to wrestle playfully with his sister "Its both" Rei said giving bakura a kiss.
"Atem....I want to help..I've been thinking and....I would like to try..." She knew what happened if she failed but she would do anything to help atem "I mean I'm already missing an eye....."

"Aww..." Bakura whined, rather childishly. "I don't want to be old yet. I mean, I want to be old some day, hopefully. I'd rather live to the nice, ripe age of 30 then be killed before my time." He was just kidding around; while it was true that Egyptians of this time didn't live very long, 30 wasn't as old as Bakura was making it out to be. Atem looked expressionless for a moment, as he absorbed what Nanu was saying. She would like to try? Try what? His eyes widened slightly when it hit him. "The Millennium--?!" He gasped, rather shocked by the proposal. Nanu, try to handle the Millennium Eye?! It wasn't impossible, but it was improbably that she would be strong enough. He shook his head furiously. "No. Nanu, You've seen what that will do to people who the item doesn't accept. I'm not going to lose you. Not after how close..." Atem's voice broke slightly with emotion, and he looked away, feeling choked up. "No. You can't do it."

"Atem please!" Nanu begged "We havent found anybody it works with yet. You need sombody with it!you need all the help you can get! Im worried about you..." Nanu gently grasped is hands "I want to do this for you...."
Rei pouted "your not that old" she said giving him another kiss. "and your going to live way older then 30." Soon both children had ran over jumpping on there fathers lap.
