"Um...do you know how to heal spiritual wounds?" Owle asked, her eyes glazing over for a brief moment as she mentally checked over the damage once more. "I can heal my own, just...not as well as I can in the physical world."

At his question, she shook her head. "No. He reached out to me. He...sent me a message, to give to his daughter. You know how when, if someone thinks they're going to die, they want to send out one last message to their loved ones? That's the kind of message it was. But he didn't tell me what was happening, and then the line went dead..."

Owle paused, looking down at her feet, then faced Maximos again. "I kept trying to reach him...I ran out of the Firebrand to head toward him, to try to find out what was happening. He woke up again, but it was all...anger and rage and stuff, I couldn't reach him. Then it subsided, and I tried to call out to him, but he couldn't hear me. I heard him mention your name, and that's when I contacted you.

"Then I heard another voice, yelling at Rain to shut up, coming from behind a door. I went to investigate, and there was the old man.

"...and somewhere in the middle of that, Slash helped me get here." It was more of an explanation than he'd asked for, but no one could accuse Owle of not being thorough.

"OWLE!"

Owle clapped her hands over her ears and winced, as if someone had snuck up behind her and screamed at the top of their lungs.

"Rage! Keep it down! Other people have to think too, you know!" she sent back, almost instantly.

Then, recovering from the shock, she regretted her snippiness. "Sorry. You kind of hurt my brain. What's wrong?"

"....how come you're in the hospital...?"

She was sure he hadn't been there a moment before, but now her senses were telling her his mind was practically right next to hers. First she had no idea where on Gaia he could be, and now all of a sudden he popped up right near her? Crazy the way fate worked...

About time I get to see him again, she thought to herself. It's been a while.

I'm sorry, my psionic knowledge is not what it should be. Would applying more energy to it help?

It was hard to say, spirits were being of essence not form. They consumed and exhumed essence and again not form. So it stood to reason that being fed more essence would assist but...Maximos was far from being a healer. He was however a very good listener, and took a sort of simple pleasure in silently taking in the tales of others.

He winced at the idea of the agony Rain must have undergone. His eyes softened in sadness, empathizing on some level with the fear and anguish of losing someone close to you and being unable to assist. He perked just a bit as he entered the story, it was nice to hear the exact details on how he was contacted. It was better than the admittedly paranoid theories he had concocted and kept to himself.

A horrible experience I am very sorry you had to go through. I should have stepped in to intervene far before Rain was ev--

She winced, and so suddenly. He knew she had just ended a psychic and spiritual battle, was another beginning?!

Owle! Are you alright?

He said as he moved forward toward the young woman. He was closer, but not close, just close enough to assist without being close enough to quantify a panicked rush to the maidens side.

As the elevator groaned to a halt, Tomorrow pulled the doors open and stepped into the corridor - before smiling.

He was here. He could feel him, sense him - the boy had some of John within him now. There was no way he could hide from him.

John moved slowly through the crowded hall, passing doctors and patients and beds. This world, so full of violence and yet overflowing with life...

With measured steps he approached the closed doors to Rain's room. He focused his energies, sensing the power around him, before narrowing it to only his sight.

The boy was in bed, his brain's signals low but steady. A female with psychic power, her brain emitting the strange sound of normally unused human energy, stood next to it...

And a shadow.

A lot made sense in the Tribal's mind now.

Opening the door, he looked into the room, bending slightly to look under the doorframe, before walking in completely, shutting the door behind him. There were no words - he simply entered, as if he owned the place.

His eyes were locked onto Maximos, the girl ignored for now, and he waited for the Shadow to do or say something.

Sunstrike
"G-Going with me?" Sunstrike looked surprised, to say the least. He'd never expected someone else to try and help him solve his problems, then again, where he was going next, maybe it would be a good experience. Yeah, once he thought about it, Siat could meet some good people.

"Well, I'm headed to Firebrand to ask a bit more about what actually happened to my wayward..." Sun thought about what Tijae might be to him and came up at crossroads. "Creation." It was the best way to put it really, but he hated that it came to all that.

"I'd left her there, but I think I may have just tried Owle's patience a little too thin. Tijae's a big personality in a very small body."

He held his hands out, demonstrating big, and then small.

"Well, how far is it? 'cos all I've got in here-" He lifted his backpack, then put back down with a clash. "-is fighting gear, which doesn't seem prudent for an adventure." He nodded as if confirming it to himself, then froze in thought for a second, crimson eyes moving top-right, then focusing back in on Sunstrike.

"What are the likelihoods we'll have to fight?" His tone would be hard to figure out; somewhere between caution, hopeful anticipation and natural interest. In his head, he was planning out what things he'd need to get.

He almost said none.

Almost.

But then he thought about everyone in Firebrand, yes, even Owle herself was brought to light in his mind and studied for a second. Sunstrike rethought his reply.

"s**t. I honestly don't know. Some? Maybe?" Depends who's mad at me and how much so... His fingers drummed along the table top.

"Bring enough so that if the s**t hits the fan you have an umbrella, but make sure it's a light umbrella..."

Maximos would have to remember never to bring anyone injured to Latent General Hospital again.

Maximos

((Leviathan Stadium Thread - Page 1581 - Post 11))

A few moments later, Maximos delivered Yupa to a fresh hospital bed. He delivered a detailed description of the mans attacker, and asked the nurse to keep him posted about Rain's condition.

Despite his admonition and the fact that there truly is only on cybernetic, blond, giant vigilante leaping across Gaia the hospital still let Tomorrow in. It was exasperating to be honest. Of course in the back of his mind Maximos to wonder how in all of Gaia, Tomorrow knew this was the right hospital. There was no spiritual or physical means of tracking the Shadow, his essences, trails or what have you faded just mere seconds after he passed and he was no where near stupid enough to miss the fact someone so clumsy and loud was trailing him. And of course, Tomorrow never learned Rain Yupa's name, so there was no way of finding it in a computer. But...then again, Gods always did have a way of bending, stupefying, and simplifying reality to their own desires.

But Maximos was not going to stand around in the hospital room and wait for the barbarian to make his way into the room and stare at him like a doey eyed child waiting for some sort of recognition, or his spanking. Maybe he had come looking for death again. Regardless, Maximos was out of forgiveness and emotion of his, "old friend".

He raised his hand, interrupting Owle before she could finish. Something he absolutely hated to do.

I'm sorry, but something has come up, I'll have to cut our meeting short.

Owle might recognize that tone, it would be the same type of tone Maximos took toward her when she showed her flecks of divinity during HoH. It was a sort of kindness covered in layers of frost, and topped with a thin vein of disgust, she would also be able to tell it was not directed toward her. Perhaps her senses, would allow her to perceive the lumbering giant makings its way down the halls.

Never the less, Maximos scooped up his book and made his way for the door at which point he exited the room. He leave at just about the time, Tomorrow made his way to the door, and without as much as giving the man eye contact or recognition he would walk directly by him, by passing his metal arm and continuing down the halls. No "scary eyes" or "locked gazes" were going to dissuade him. He never made eye contact, he never even let his eyes rest on the giant figure in front of him, he simply looked right past him and continued down and away. If Tomorrow felt anything it was the complete and total lack of anything coming from the shadow. He simply was not interested in any sort of contact, Tomorrow was not worth it. He was not worth any of it.

Once down the hall he would make his way to the stairs, and then make a quick stop at the receptionist desk to inform to remind them of the description he gave and the Rain Yupa's attacker a known criminal was now in his room. And made the kind request that if they attempt to apprehend him they wait until after he leaves the room so that Rain can rest undisturbed.

It was a shame, he really did want to have a nice conversation with Ms. Owle.

I'm sorry, my psionic knowledge is not what it should be. Would applying more energy to it help?

Owle shook her head. "I don't think so. I can apply plenty of energy to it by myself, but that doesn't make stuff grow back, takes...a little more than that."

After a pause, she added, "Thanks, though."

Rage's voice thundered through her head, and Maximos stepped closer, obviously concerned if not panicked. She straightened up, shaking her head again, only this time it meant yes. "I'm fine. My brother, he-"

I'm sorry, but something has come up, I'll have to cut our meeting short.

Owle choked on her next words and just stared at Maximos. She did recognize that tone, and all the unpleasantness that had accompanied it the last time she'd heard it. Granted, the unpleasantness wasn't directed at her this time, but...

"Maximos?" she asked his back. "What's wrong?"

Taking one step after him, wanting to know as much or more than she wanted to help, and at the same time wanting him to come back...

She glanced back at Rain, and, out of respect, did not follow Maximos out of the room. He'd earned that much, at least.

If Tomorrow did enter the room, Owle would smile at him. "Oh, hi there. You're one of Sun's friends, right? I saw you in the Stadium, but I never caught your name..."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2007 7:02 am

Maximos paused, for just that moment. It was just long enough to toss off his accidental timing. He didnt know exactly how to annunciate what was bothering him. Though when Tomorrow entered the room and Owle asked her question, the perfect opportunity was dropped at his feet and he simply had to take it.

"Oh, hi there. You're one of Sun's friends, right? I saw you in the Stadium, but I never caught your name..."

His name is Thor, God of Thunder and Destruction. His "friendly warm up" with Rain is the reason Mr. Yupa is currently in that bed.

That pretty much summed up all that needed to be summed up. Owle would likely able to put together the rest. She knew of Maximos' feelings toward gods. And she knew of the panicked message she received, now she could see who's clutches he was in when it was sent. Anyone in this room could see the difference between the two men, making it bluntly obvious that this didnt have to happen to Rain at all. And so...

Maximos
...without as much as giving the man eye contact or recognition he would walk directly by him, by passing his metal arm and continuing down the hall. No "scary eyes" or "locked gazes" were going to dissuade him. He never made eye contact, he never even let his eyes rest on the giant figure in front of him, he simply looked right past him and continued down and away. Owle's face did something really funny. The smile fell, her lips drawing into a small, tight line. The warmth in her light brown eyes shrank away, fleeing as she narrowed them. All in all, what had moment's ago been a friendly expression full of warmth had transformed into one of distaste.

"Oh," she said flatly, regarding John Tomorrow like he was a piece of filth not fit to be stuck to the bottom of her shoe.

Her arms folded across her chest, and the tiny brown feathered wings spread out to their full span, reaching just barely past the brown, armor like scales that covered her shoulders. This small woman with disheveled blue hair could never, ever be imagined to be truly intimidating, especially while she was standing next to a blond cybernetic giant. And yet, the aura that rolled off of her couldn't be mistaken for anything but.

"So what are you doing here?" she demanded of the god, as if challenging his very right to set foot on the floor of the room. Sun's friend or not, this thing had earned every bit of unkindness Owle had to offer.

"Got it." Siat replied simply, continuing to mentally pack his bag. "What're you bringing?"

He toyed idly with his cuffs, making sure they were buttoned properly, then subconsciously imitated Sunstrike's drumming. After a second or too, he realised what he was doing and curled his fingers slightly, then let them rest on the table, stationary.

Something was wrong.

Something was very wrong. It was as if Owle just grew about ten times her normal size, judging by the aura surrounding her - Rage couldn't tune it out, but that was a good thing - now he was able to find out exactly where she was.

He made a leap over a gurney before coming to an unintentionally squeaky stop as his sandals screeched against the floor in front of the door where all the commotion was.

"So what are you doing here?"

That was Owle - no mistake about it. If the door didn't open properly or was locked, Rage would attempt to kick it down... and failing that, he'd press both hands against the handle and frame until the metal inside the lock quite literally melted down and slam into it with his shoulder after a few seconds to force the thing open. One way or another he was getting in.

Sun sneezed suddenly, then did so again, before answering. Someone's talking about me...

"Myself." Sunstrike grinned and spread his hands outwards, using them to help himself up from the table.

"I've never been overly brilliant at preparations, but I figure that if anything comes up I'll improvise a good escape route. God's know it's happened before..." He was practically laughing, digging in his pockets for enough money to pay for dinner and tip.

The coins hit the table and he was on his way, beckoning Siat to follow after.

Sunstrike was going back to Firebrand...

"Bless you." Siat saw no reason to be impolite. He then grabbed his backpack and jogged to keep up with Sunstrike, silently contemplating whether or not to replace his armour.

Rain stirred as Tomorrow approached. He had been slumbering deep in unconsciousness, but like he had just said; part of him was in Rain now. Maybe that's what set off some sort of recognition indicator in his mind.

There was a slight groan as Maximos left and Owle confronted the tribal. He opened his left eye slightly, and closed it again. "its alright, ms. owle. just let us finish our fight. he'll be... done like dinner when i'm through with him. heh." He inhaled his lungs full of oxygen, and attempted to shift into a sitting up position. Man, sitting up is harder than it looks. His entire body didn't want to cooperate, at all. Its not that it hurt, it just... didn't want to listen. It kept failing on him as he would attempt to move.

"... just a sec, friend. i'm experiencing some technical difficulties. be right with you." This time, he did manage to sit up a few inches higher than he was before. Man, why did he feel so sluggish? Whatever Tomorrow must have just hit him with, it knocked him for a doozy.

Then a look of confusion came over Rain's face. He was in the bed. Since when did a bed get onto the arena floor? And suddenly, he was all bandaged. He couldn't move his left arm, either; whatever the reason, it was in a sling now. He looked himself over as best as he could; his forehead and must of the surface area of his body was bandaged up, making Rain look like a makeshift mummy of sorts. His right hand was bandaged tighter than normal, since the doctors hadn't had the chance to put his hand in a cast yet.

"well, this is embarassing. guess i lost? don't worry, i'm ready for round two." He tried a bit harder to move his body, but everything was numb. Then he saw the culprit: the IV line into his arm feeding him morphine. Bah, painkillers was a quitter's way out! But with his right arm IV'd up and his left unable to move, he did the next best thing; raised his right arm up as far as he could, and pulled it out with his teeth, spitting the loose wire out so it could swing freely beside his bed.

His eyes closed, it would take all his willpower to just get his left leg over the edge of the bed. He would need to rest first before he could follow with his right leg. Man, he was getting too old for this.

Tomorrow stepped to the side, allowing Maximos to depart, before facing the small girl before him, her little wings spread in some attempt to be threatening. "I'm not going to hurt him anymore." He said to her, his voice like thunder. "So you can relax."

Wether she did or not didn't matter to him. She couldn't hurt him. The only viable person who had a chance to stand up to him had just left the room - which made things better for John. Maximos had done enough for today.

Moving to the bedside, he ignored the door opening, Rage tumbling into the room without any troubles. And as he looked down at Rain, he heard the words come from his lips.

Rain Yupa
"well, this is embarassing. guess i lost? don't worry, i'm ready for round two."

John's metallic hand reached out to press Rain's arm down to the bed gently, leaving the drip in. There would be no restraint neccesary, the boy could barely talk let alone move. "No more fighting for you today, son." John said calmly to him, as if he were talking to his offspring.

He kneeled down then, looking directly into Rain's eyes, positioning himself so the boy didn't need to move around as much. "You're stronger then you let on, Rain...stronger then anybody would know. But you don't know how to wield your power just yet...or just how much power you hold."

He leaned in closer then, putting his mouth mere inches from the boy's ear. "We hold the power to shape the world, son...we are unique. You hold the power to move atoms themselves...or tear them apart at your whim."

He straightened then, keeping his eyes on the boy. "Find me, if you wish. And i'll teach you what i know."

Then he turned to leave the room, keeping his big hands in his pockets as he paused at Owle - "I'm sorry." - before walking out into the corridor.

The place was busy. Depressingly busy. Just as hospitals always were.
