Ping Pong is fun, though you don't get much money from it unless you get a really high score.

Part of me really doesn't want to do it again. Maybe if I do, I'll feel like part of something again and maybe I won't be so lonely..

Well let's see... I've had a Hideous Attack of the Viruses, which may well have bricked my computer but I am attempting to work around that. Does anyone know how to complete wipe a hard drive, just right down to nothing?
PS. AVG sucks warm sick through a straw.

Darik's Boot and NukeAs far as anti-virus, Microsoft has actually stepped up to the plate with "Microsoft Security Essentials", and it's pretty good. It's free too.

I do, but I think it'll totally ruin your harddrive though i'm not sure. I got a nice long story of how someone freaked out and quickly pressed a magnet against it to erase everything on it. But I can't remember if they were reusable after that.

Can't you just use system restore on your computer or the boot disks that came with the thing?

System Restore only goes so far and if the virus is serious enough won't do much at all.
If it's eating up your files at rapid speeds you have to whip everything and start from scratch otherwise your computer will have countless problems..

I've had to wipe my system before because of a virus and I used system restore and/or the boot disks.
If I remember correctly, you put the disc in and it prompts you if you want to reinstall/delete. I wouldn't dare take any sort of powerful magnets to any electronics.

Don't make offhanded joking comments to a man who just portrayed the devil in a play. Superman will immediately want to teach you a lesson and construct a super elaborate ruse to torture you. gonk

Also do not underestimate Lois's ability to pull a "lesson reversal"

Wooo, got 3 Plague Noirs now. I think I'm going to go for a Warrior of the North next for a non-comic account of mine. They're down to 175k.

Quote: As far as anti-virus, Microsoft has actually stepped up to the plate with "Microsoft Security Essentials", and it's pretty good. It's free too. That sounds exactly like what I need, thanks! I don't want to just dump an otherwise perfectly good hard drive. It's 320G and not even 2.5 years old. But I've tried anti-virusing the thing and that didn't work, and it came back meaner and nastier than anything I have ever seen. I'm not reloading windows more than once so I'm saving my files and then installing on a fresh new hard drive. I've got one trick left up my sleeve but it looks like it's just going to be a total wipe. I can't even get into the registry edit. If I had the money, I'd use this as an excuse to upgrade to Windows7. If I can nuke the demons out of the old one, I'll use it as a third internal. I'm going with a brand spanking new copy of Kaspersky for my anti-virus, but I'll probably arm to the teeth after this.

Just keep in mind that having multiple AVs installed usually ends up screwing a system harder because they all (inevitably) step on each other's toes.
