Tora slipped from her towel and entered the bath quickly. "Yes, I'm afraid so. It's been like this since I've been here, however. We live in such a boom-and-bust economy.... people spend their money too quickly when they have it, and it causes everything to shatter when jobs are scarce and they really need it." She sighed again. "Me? I save. It's hard, and I do spoil myself once-in-a-while, but really, I keep it back," she smiled, hoping the young girl was listening and taking heed to not blow her money when she became a Geisha. "It's a sad thought, but we are like shooting stars: appearing so quickly and leaving too soon, but one will remember if for a life-time."

Karasu like the geisha Tora in front of her slipped seamlessly into the bath. The water felt nice against her skin. "My aunt wasn't a spender of her money when she became geisha..." She spoke, "She tried to stay in the okiya as long as she could, but you know...They started to close down okiyas'. Saying they were a waste of space because no one could afford geisha any more."
Karasu cracked her neck at the feeling of the hot water, her joints and muscles felt so relaxed. Tonight she would sleep well. The plane ride over was so long and she felt so rigid on her way to Japan.

Tora smiled and let the water rush over her. "Umm," she sighed. "It is a rare treat indeed that one gets to relax."
Tora rubbed her shoulders and allowed the hot water to relax her muscles.

"So then tomorrow morning I start as a maid, correct?" Karasu asked ringing out the bottom of her long dark hair. Her brown eyes staying fixated on Tora while she asked the question.
While waiting for an answer Karasu didn't notice, but she begun to play with her hair, spinning it around her finger, then unwinding it, only to rewind it once more. When she finally did notice she quickly pulled out the rubber band and put it all back up into a bun. Buns she was quite good at, seeing as thats all she was really allowed to do with her hair for ballet practices.

Tora looked up and nodded, "Yes." She gave her signature half-smile as she watched the young girl place her hair in a bun. "Well, I think I'm all done," she said. "Would you care to join me for a late-night snack, Karasu-chan?" she then asked.

Karasu nodded, "Yes, that sounds really good." She answered standing and getting out. "I think now I get the, 'whats the deal with air line food' joke," She paused to stick out her tongue, " It was rather gross!"

"I bet it was!" Tora replied, wrinkling her nose. "Well, now you'll have plenty of really good home-cooked meals here," she smiled. Tora stood behind the divide, dried off, and slipped into her yukata.
"Well, what shall it be?" she asked herself idly. "Perhaps some tea and mochi?" she added, stepping from behind the divide.

"Um...Whats mochi?" Karasu asked tilting her head dumbly. "We really didn't eat that many japanese meals back home, and if we did it was only when auntie Kai- I mean Yokohana was there." She explained, "But I wanna try it!" She answered with a smile.

Tora giggled. "It's pounded rice," she began to explain. "If you make it just right, it's very fluffy! It tastes kind of like a marshmallow," she smiled.
Tora began to walk inside and set the table.

"Ah. Okay that sounds great." Karasu exclaimed. She wandered back into the okiya after Tora and while Tora worked on making the mochi she quietly explored the bottom floor of the okiya.
She found the tea room, then the living space, then after that the maiko's room. Which was unarguably empty. She lingered in the door way of the maiko's room, she imagined the okiya with many other young girls and young women that all had the same dream, and now she was standing here looking at a room filled with only futons that where made and left alone for quite some time.
Looking back she entered the room and dusted off the mirror that was directly in front of her from the door. She looked around on the vanity only a few trinkets remained of the last girls to share this room. 'I will reintroduce the world of the geisha to the world!" She swore to her self.
Standing Karasu returned to the kitchen. "Tora-senpai," She began. "I have a question..." She waited for a moment. "If you do not mind, while I am a maid will you please teach me as a maiko...So that one day I maybe able to, with your help bring the world of the geisha back to life?"

"I will, most certainly," Tora smiled while nodding. "Come," she gestured.
Tora sat out the mochi, placing one on a plate with the large end of the chopsticks and sat it in front of Karasu, then one for herself. She then poured tea, giving just a brief glimps of the inner wrist as she help back the sleeves of her yukata, and placed it, again, in front of Karasu first, then herself.
Tora looked up at Karasu and spoke. "What did you notice just then?" she asked.

Karasu felt excitement fluttering in her as Tora responded 'yes', but know found her self relaying the gesture of pouring tea in her mind. "Let's see..." She pause trying to confirm what it was that she just seen that was of significant meaning. "Oh, Your yukata was going to get in the way if you didn't pull it back." She answered triumphantly with a warm smile. Then she thought a little longer finishing with, "Showing a glimpse of your wrist to be in a way sexy...Correct?"

"Correct," Tora nodded. "And I served others before myself, and I picked up communal things, like mochi or sushi, with the large end of my chopsticks," she added. Tora popped a piece of mochi in her mouth and closed her eyes, savoring the taste. "Ummumm!"

Karasu smiled at the face Tora made when she ate her mochi, she then tasted it her self, "Yummy." She said after swallowing, then wanting a piece of sushi did as her teacher suggested and flipped the chop sticks around and picked up the spring roll with the large ends. Before eating it she asked, "So the more vigorous and tedious lessons begin tomorrow?" Karasu questioned, then put the food into her mouth.

"Not too much at once," Tora winked. "First, you must complete your maid duties, then as a Maiko you begin to train."
Tora sighed. "You may have to do your entire training here," she said, sitting back and dropping her hands into her lap. She looked out the window of the okiya and onto the back porch. "Schools have shut down because there's just not enough Maiko."
Tora sighed again, then looked at Karasu and smiled. "We can change that. We're going to change that!" she added Triumphantly.
