"No... It's nothing... I'd rather stay here with you..." Eventually the pain caused her back to go numb so she was no longer shaky. She looked at him. "You were all worried about me?"

"Of course, the explosion. The flames." Ginji smiled out, it all seemed like a dream. There seemed like no way she would survive. "Ike had more faith, but I think he was just playing it cool."

"Heh." Maddy leaned forward slightly and kissed Ginji on the cheek. "To be honest, I thought I was gonna die back there. I'm glad I didn't, because for someone who was supposedly on the brink of death I didn't say a very well good-bye to you..."

"And it wasn't like I took it very well." Ginji apologized as he blushed, the moon up above in the sky, sending down rays of light to light their midnight swim.

"Yeah well you're forgiven..." She drifted away from him a bit and just floated on her own, laying back in the water slightly to gaze up at the stars. Without really noticing, she reached out and grabbed his hand with her left. Her nails were no longer sharp. She gazed over at him and looked him in the eye. Both of her eyes were a vibrant purple now.

"As are you my sweet." Ginji smiled as he coughed slightly, the cold water was getting to him lungs. "Why does this water always have to be so cold?" he asked as he clenched Maddy's hand, he was also starting to drift off into sleep from not sleeping for the past few days. "We really need some rest, we've been through a lot."

"Yeah we do... But I wanna stay by your side..." She drifted in closer to him and rested her head on his chest. "The water's cold?" She hadn't noticed because of the numbness.

"Then don't leave me." Ginji smiled as he whispered a few words of sweet nothings as they disappeared into thin air and onto a fold out bed in the middle of HQ. Some how they managed to stay dry and clothed from the transition.

"I won't." She kissed Ginji on the cheek again and went back to her previous position with her head resting on his chest. The warmth of HQ started to take away the numbness, and the throbbing in her back started up again, but she hid the pain well this time. She slowly gazed up at him. She wanted to think of something better to say.

Ginji only smiled as he petted Maddy's hair. "It's all okay now." he swore as he drifted off into a sweet sleep.

As she watched him sleep for a couple minutes, Maddy wanted nothing more than to be kissed by him again. Feeling tired as well, she pushed the thoughts away for another time and rolled over on her back. That position brought her some discomfort, so she lay on her stomach instead, and eventually fell asleep.

Sammy came in, wearing a white shirt, grey vest, black trousers, and a tie. She had finally participated in the choral concert they had had, and she now sat going over one of the pieces which they had sang. "Shine~ on me~ Shine~ on me-e-ee~..."

Cody walked into HQ happy as could be. Seeing Sammy, he ran over to her, grabbed her had, span around her back, and let go, calmly walking over to the kitchen like nothing had happened.

Sammy didn't say anything, just yipped, "Hey, Mr. Cody," She sat back on the couch shaking it off. "What's up?"
