Xenos Mortium It's an odd and sad realization, but I don't think that the Death Korps are for me. neutral What makes you say that?

Well, cost aside... crying
I read much of their background information, and while they're still incredibly badass, they're just not the style I like to play, especially with how much they do cost. Artillery barrages followed by mass infantry charges and everything just isn't my style.
Sadly, I'm liking the Elysians. For sake of money I might try and do Harakoni Warhawks or something of the sort, or another regiment that uses the same ruleset.

Just use Cadians with the Elysian doctrines and their army list found in IA3. Or you can use your Krieg troops as stand-in models and get a few games under your belt to get a feel of the force.

That's what I'm thinking. I have some Cadians and some 3rd ed. Storm Troopers, so I think those would do nicely.
I may just end up making up my own Regiment to best fit my tastes and playing style. Something like...
Special Weapons Squads Light Infantry Sharpshooters Veterans Cameleoline
Representing a smaller, more elite force of Imperial Guardsmen, rather than legions of conscripts, or anything of the sort. Special Weapons squads would be used as sniper teams, and most of the army would infiltrate/outflank into cover. They'd be sneaky buggers.

That's actually a good idea, replacing Special Weapons Squads for Independent Commissars, Priests, and Hardened Fighters.
Originally I was going to try and give them Carapace, but you can't have that and Light Infantry, and I wanted Storm Troopers/Grenadiers, but Light Infantry, Sharpshooters, and Camoeleoline don't work with them.
Any suggestions on making a more elite, more high-tech Imperial Guard army?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone here has an idea on what kind of color scheme the Ultramar PDF would have. I've got my sights set on Guard as my next army, and although blue's my favorite color I'd like something more original than Ultramarine on flak armor.

There's pictures of the "official" Ultramar PDF in the Apocalypse book where they're showing a scenario for the Battle of Macragge.
Actually...wait a tic. Ultramar is the region, no? Each planet would have its own PDF, and each regiment of the PDF could possibly have different scheme.

The PDF seen in the Apocalypse book are just spare Valhallans GW had lying around paired with a Vostroyan Baneblade. Be creative, create your own colour scheme.

VISORED HELMET SPRUES 20 Heavy Infantry visored helmets You will still need to find grav packs tho. I have a bunch of their Kolony helmeted gasmask heads and they are perfect for Steel Legion, and possibliy Krieg.

Eh, just remember when you're picking doctrines that your infantry die fast. Having too much (sharpshooters and cameleoline) on your infantry make them extremely expensive. I prefer to get just one thing, and get a few specific squads, if that. My normal doctrines are:
Storm Troopers Special Weapon Squads Iron Discipline Sharpshooters Conscripts
This lets me have some solid punch if I need it, and keep my men in the fight longer. I have platoons of different sorts, and use them differently. My Mordians I give sharpshooting, my cadians are normally assault troops, and my catachan are conscripts. Mordians are elite, Cadian are standard, and catachan are militia. All officers get Iron Discipline so that my guard stick to the fight longer, so I can get more fight out of the points for them. Then I can get the storm troopers for specialized assault group. Support this with tanks, or heavy artillery, and you've got my army. I also always take the banner, so that my men get a re-roll.
At least, this worked last version. I haven't had a chance to play the new version yet, something that really bothers me.

Now, I've seen the Mole launcher and Hades breaching drill before, both of which being completely awesome.
However, the Minataur is new to me, and it blows my mind. A super-heavy Tank with two Earthshaker cannons? burning_eyes

Very tempting models but with FW's current track record of miscasts and bent parts I am not sure whether to get them or not. To me their products are less and less worth the actual money, even if they are "high quality" casts.
