It use to belong to the Russinas then we had it then the Americans scared us into giving it to them for some reason

I thought the Russians sold it to the Americans.
They could have sold it to both the canadians and the Americans, but that would not have gone unpunished by Europe.

Wikipedia makes no mention of Canada owning Alaska.
It was pretty much gov't property until 1958.
It was purchased because the Americans were afraid of the BNA act of 1867 (Birth of the Dominion of Canada)
