Fluff says that assault cannons take entirely too much upkeep to be used by anyone without extreme training. I'd say that while the Guard couldn't use them (upkeep? In the guard? HA!) maybe the Skitarii would have access to them.

According to the codex produced by GW's Tim Huckleberry, the Skitarii DO have access at them and use them on their Sentinels.
Of course they would they are the mechanicus with their primary mission being to defend mechanicus holding they would have access to nearly all imperial weapons but thats mostly fluff wise.

Assault cannon Sentinels would be a force to be reckoned with.

Note to self. Never attack a Forge World

And you wouldn't attack one because of the Sentinels? Think about the cannons that they'd have set up that are the size of a Warlord titan. Or maybe of the Robot Maniples walking around with three Lascannons strapped on. Or the Assault Trikes with Conversion Beamers.

Well not just the assault cannons.

Yeah, but there's no defense that can't be overcome. There's two pages on Hurion's (sp?) raiding exploits on gene-seed and artifacts on a space marine chapter I can't remember. He used Night Lords to infiltrate first, then followed up with regular marines and moped up with Terminators.

There's a list in Imperial Armour I which comprises all (I presume all, at least) of the dedicated Forge Worlds, and out of those twenty-some planets, only two have been overtaken. One of them is still under Ork control.

I was under the impression there were hundreds, not twenty-some.

Only the major GW created worlds are listed, rest are either unimportant or worlds thought up by the fans. And these are mostly listed because of the Titan legions found there or some other reason.

It's an odd and sad realization, but I don't think that the Death Korps are for me. neutral

Only reason that I'd go with Kriegers is for the heavy mortars and thudd guns.

On a related note, I played a codex: Catachan battle the other day, complete with a jungle board and everything. The Ambush rule did me very well, and I ended up pulling a close draw against some Space Marines.
