"It's because deception is a part of human nature." Luke's posture relaxes and he reaches down for his sword, his eyes still closed. "It's not in our nature to reveal our emotions. In our world..." His eyes open to look to the sky. "...a mask is everything..."

There are no such things as coincidence."Really? I like to think of it as adjusting our moods to the situation." Valerye replied coolly, getting up to stretch her legs. "But then again, not all of us hide behind masks..." she said, her expression a little softer. "What am I saying?" she laughed the seriousness off. "At any rate, I can imagine your eye color to be a tad bothersome. Or, I would, anyways." There is only hitsuzen

Terra was now rather gratefully that she hadn't lingered too long in Lae's home this morning. Now it seemed the few still left within it would indeed be regretting their lack of haste. She smirked a little and found it all very comical. This was definetly going to be a fun day. She had noticed, however, the sudden change in the new elf's mannerisms once Emmia caught up with their circle. It made the smirk in her lips curve to a grin, then vanish as Valerye posed the question. It was one that she herself had been eager to ask, and now listened eagerly to Marael's breif explanation. It made sense, and now that she thought about it, it really was a bit obvious. Either way, it was a marvelous trait the elves had and Terra felt she could gaze into any of their eyes for however long a time and never lose interest or fascination. Luke's answer to Marael was striking, at best. Terra thought to try and defend their way of life, but his words were true and she knew it well. "He's right. Our whole lives all we do is hide behind our paper masks and hope no one sees who we really are. Lies... humans are full of them." she said, looking down, as if embarassed by this betrayal of her own race. If only her faded green eyes could show the load of emotions she kept under such tight chains.
Ichnel's actions towards handling the other guests' tardiness surprised Emmia. She hadn't expected him to be so... affected by their slowness. The resounding snap brought about an involuntary laugh as she watched the door of the tree home, almost expecting to see them all rush out of it at once. Emmia turned back to Jao and nodded to his reply, pushing away the rather humorous vision of Lae's reaction to all this. "I'm glad. And you're very welcome, but I'm sure that any one of the others would have done the same..." she said, holding his gaze for a moment. His reaction to her made the corners of her mouth curl into more of a grin as she watched the sudden flicker of new color in his eyes. This brought about Valerye's question had pulled Emmia's eyes towards the girl, then back and forth to whom ever began speaking. Just like Marael, Emmia found it strange that human eyes didn't match their mood. How could they stand not knowing what others felt? Being in constant confusion as to what emotions kept the people around them going. The other two answers that Luke and Terra had brought up baffled Emmia even more. Maybe the stories of humans weren't so far off base... masks? Lies? "How can you stand it...?" she asked. She couldn't very well imagine such a world.

Marael nodded agreement with Emmia's question and gazed at Luke, Valerye, and Tera thoughtfully for a moment.
"That makes a sort sense." She said slowly. "We elves do not lie very well...we tell half-truths, mainly, and subtle white lies." She said. "So we are not any more righteous than you. Animals are the only ones who do not lie." As if on cue, Gaebrial appeared out of nowhere, loping silently to sit next to Marael, who smiled fondly at the panther. She looked back up at the humans. "It is still a bit of a surprise when I look at you humans and your eyes are the same. It may take a bit of getting used to." She gave a wry smile.

"Some of us can't." As Luke responds to Emmia's somment, he cringes, recalling a friend who had committed suicide. "...Well, at any rate..." He shakes it off and turns back to the group, smiling. In a few steps he's beside a tree near the group. "Truth be told? I'm not in any hurry to get back." His arms cross behind his head as he leans back against the tree.

There are no such things as coincidence."That's a lot like our stories of - " Valerye caught herself from saying the rest of the sentence. Humans were as much myth to the elves as they were to humans; neither group needed to be reminded of that 'fact.' Hearing Luke's comment, Valerye agreed. "Who wants to get back to school anyhow?" Raizer looked at the town from the top of the hill that he was standing on and smiled "finally a town its been awhile" he said as he started running towards the town.

Ichnel listened silently as the group talked. While Marael was right in that elves could not lie very well, she obviously hadn't spent a long time with a dark elf.
For those who lived in Shalondia, lies and treachery were their bread and butter. From the time he was old enough to walk, Ichnel had been taught to never show any emotions other than hate, anger, pride, and for the most part, indifference. It was especially hard for him because of his white irises. They usually betrayed even the slightest hint of emotional color. He'd learned over the course of his 190+ years to mask some of his emotions, thus keeping his eyes white. But his stronger feelings still showed through, even more so now that he lived in a village where all emotions were comonplace and most were accepted.
Ichnel shook head, clearing his mind out of its reverie. No need to dwell in the past...
"Why do you not wish to return to your school?" Ichnel asked.
((To Destiny: are there any formal schools in the elven world? One would think with hundreds of thousands of years worth of history the elves would have some kind of gigantic place to keep written history and to educate others. Just asking. Loves~ Silver))

As Raizer entered the town and walked down the streets to what he hoped was the center he saw a group of people most elves though a few caught his eye flat ears? i've never heard of an elf with flat ears before he thought, he stood there in puzzled amazement for a few seconds before deciding to go and find out. As he neared the group he also noticed that their eyes were no where near as vibrant in colour as that of all the elves he'd ever seen, he continued to walk towards them but stopped a few steps away "hello" he said bowing "im sorry to ask but are you some form of new race of elves or something?" he said looking at Luke and Valerye as his eyes betraying the fact that he was embarrised incase what he asked was a stupid question.

((Hey, Terra too!! crying Don't forget Terra... ))
"Because unlike what it might be like here, school in our world is usually boring and full of stupid teenagers with no tact. That's when we're all trying to figure out who we are and what we want to do." she said in a low voice. Though she didn't entirely dislike school, she didn't altogether enjoy it either. She often found herself more matur than alot of the other students in her grade. Her marks in all of her classes were always high, but her tolerance for stupidity in others was quite low. Most of her friends were upper classman. Though... it was odd to not be at school. Was anyone missing them? Had time passed back in their world? These and more questions were all sparking in her thoughts as she glanced up, frowning at the sky as if her answers might fall from it. It was then that another elf came towards them, seemily from nowhere since Terra's mind had been elsewhere. She looked him over and found that he had gazed at the three humans as oddly and confusedly as the first elves they had seen earlier. She'd almost forgotten that they themselves were a new concept to these elves. Their hosts had gotten used to them by now, and seeing someone else look so puzzled at their appearance was almost unnerving for Terra. "Oh... well, no, actually we would be humans. Not at all any type of elf." she said politely, managing to reply as she studied the change of color in his eyes.

((sorry i should've read the previous posts more clearly, my bad))
Raizer looked at her blankly while he registered what she had said "a human? wow i've never heard of a human before, where did you come from?" he asked eagerly his eyes changeing colour again as his embarisment was replaced by curiosity "if you dont mind me asking" he quickly added not wanting to seem rude.

There are no such things as coincidence."Really?" Valerye asked, somewhat amused by the elf's bold curiosity, even if he was much older than herself. "I used to think elves were myths too." Cheerfully she asked, "And who would you be?" The day promised to be a good one, though she felt like some sort of display in a museum with all the curiosity going about. And the new customs, new people, new economy etc. Smiling, Valerye tried to be optimistic. There is only hitsuzen
