He glanced at his chrono before continuing, "I'd rather have our forces leave as small a footprint on the native population as possible. The less we interfere with their daily lives, the less likely resistance to imperial rule becomes. I'd have preferred to have simply occupied the facilities of the planetary defense force. Unfortunately your cohorts in fleet command decided to smash them from space and force us to move in with the civilian population."
With a sigh he took a sip of cafe, "Governor Sirus is of the opinion that imperial rule and law must be forced on the locals hard and fast. I've only been able to delay the institution of anti-alien restrictions. I'm sure you saw local reaction to the imposition of the new order in Port Loka. I hope to avoid that as long as possible here."

Just at that time Bakura blasted through the door and made right for the food. Grabbing a pastry and shoving it half-way into his mouth as he poured caf into a big mug that said 'New Karna Tapcaf, Best caf on the Planet'.
The mug seemed brand new but the inside was a dyed a dull brown, as if it had been used for years. The pastry went down but not without a cough."Had that decoding was done days ago chief, you never came to pick it up." he said as he looked up to see the room filled with armed soldiers and nearly poured the entire cup of sugar into his caf, but instead it landed to the side, to this he let our a 'yelp' and jumped to clean it up.

"Nonetheless, Colonel, that sort of breech of Imperial code is somewhat unbefiting an officer of the New Order." She said, her eyes narrowing slyly. "There could be trouble if any of your superiors found out about it."
At that moment, a vrelt of a Zabrak burst in mumbling something about codes and proceeded to down caff and stuff his craw with pasteries.
Kara looked back to the Colonel with a frown. "Have a fascination with nonhumans, Colonel Percy?"

"Lieutenant! I'm your commanding officer and I'll be damned if I'll tolerate some academy fresh lieutenant hand me a kriffing nick name in my own headquarters. Am I clear Lieutenant Jr. Grade Kara Aryss?" Colonel Akaga hissed. He'd heard she had a tendency toward insubordination, and it was time to break her of it.

"Aye, Sir." She said without batting an eye. "But you might want to put a muzzle on your caff hound before he depletes your supply. Though frm the looks of it you could stand to go with less. Just a suggestion, sir."

Saburo frowned, "Alright Lieutenant, if you want to play coy... I'll have your rank, and you'll spend some time in the stockade if you don't shape up missy. This isn't some kick the rancor competition, so lay off the slights or I'll make sure your next assignment is leading a fleet infantry platoon on Kashyyk and we'll just see how long it takes for the wookies to have your head."

Colonel Akaga laughed in the face of the subordinate, "So we have a true believer in Imperial Superiority. You know what's sad Lieutenant, is that you've been blinded by that doctrine. There are over half a million people living on this dirt hole, without even counting the nomadic Seyan population, and less then five thousand imperial personnel. Now tell me Lieutenant what good the new order will do if the locals decide they don't want us here any more. They outnumber us a hundred to one. Are you willing to kill every man, woman, and child on this useless dirt-hole for your imperial principles. I'm not Lieutenant, I'm a soldier not a mass-murderer, and I think deep down so are you... or don't you remember the treatment you received at the academy."

"Oh, I'm not that strong of a believer. But I do know blackmail when I see it, and you're standing neck deep in it, Commander." She replied, annoyed that he automatically pigeonholed her into being a Human supremacist. "Its not a matter of what I believe, but a matter of what you've been witnessed doing. And thats all I need to ruin your career with as much ease as you would have ruining mine. As for the Academy, you really have no buisness in what I went through there."

"So we have an impass." The Colonel replied with a slight smile, "You'd have made a fine politician Lieutenant, perhaps even a better one then an officer. But you'd swiftly find that I really don't care about my career, and if you're a true officer, neither should you. Everything I do is for the survival and safety of the men under my command, politicians and regulations be damned."

"Then we understand each other, Colonel." She replied. "However, Next time you say anything about the Academy- you know, the Naval academy to which you didnt go- I will kick your a**."
With that she nodded to the Zabrak drinking all the Caf. "Now whats the siuation with this thing." She said, refering more to the rude habits and slovenly manner of the Technician than any racial bias.

The Colonel glanced over his shoulder, "Thats Sgt. Bakura. We just call him "Twitch", apparently they conscripted him for his technical know-how. He's our best slicer... and our only slicer. He'll be your problem in a couple days."
"And before you go thinking I don't know about Corulag... When you get to my rank they put you through joint command training. I've studied there, and Carida, and a half dozen worlds I barely remember. So don't take me for an army brat... If you ever get to my rank, you'll learn that the s**t is just about the same all around," Akaga answered as he leaned back in his chair.

She took one look at Twitch and then back to the Colonel. "Go stick the little slicer back infront of whatever Computer monitor you pried him off of. We dont need him."
