He glared at the shield for a moment. He could move but it was like trying to do things in handcuffs and while that could be fun in some applications fighting was not one of them. Taking a step back he prodded at the shield to see if he could break it with another shell spell or a disspell one.

The Shell had no effect since the shield had already been strengthened against it, but the Dispel dissolved the magic easy enough. Kaleb watched Riley carefully as he got free, waiting for the next attack. It was too bad he hadn't managed to develop the shield he had been working on while Riley was sick, then no amount of magic would have been able to penetrate that shield.

He went for another physical attack but kept the dispell magic on hand. He knew none of his offensive Materia had been able to work yet so he doubted they would be able to now. He'd have to find some of the nonemelental based ones and try out those.

Kaleb had let Riley get close, well within range for the attacks to hit if he didn't block them appropriately. He used his small close range shield to keep Riley's attack from striking home, all the while preparing his next trick.

Waiting for the moment when Kaleb's attention was focused on blocking one of his attacks he swung one leg out under his partner. He should be able to catch his legs and bring him down pretty easily.

Kaleb's eyes widened and he leaped back to barely avoid the attack, except the desperate dodge threw him off balance and he landed awkwardly on one foot. Essentially it had the effect Riley was looking for, and he fell to the ground with a pained and surprised yelp.

He winced slightly as Kaleb yelped. "Sorry .. didn't mean for ya to do that." Kaleb should have just been knocked off his feet not tripped.

Kaleb winced and rubbed at the wrist he had used to break his fall, but that pain would probably go away in a few minutes or so. "I-it's okay, I probably should have blocked that instead of trying to dodge it..." He shifted to get back to his feet, and winced as he jarred the foot he had landed on.

"If it hurts ya shouldn't stand on it." He leaned down and held out a hand to his partner. "Come on, i'll help ya up"

"It's fine, it doesn't hurt that bad," Kaleb said as he accepted his partner's offer of help. Once standing upright, he hesitantly put a bit of weight on his injured ankle and winced. His magic confirmed his suspicion, the ankle was badly and thoroughly sprained. "O-okay, i-it's not as fine as I thought."

Kaleb nodded, gratefully using his partner's assistance so he could put as little weight on his ankle as possible. "I-I should probably get some ice for it, or it's going to really swell up bad." He attempted to limp off towards the lounge where he knew he could find ice, but he couldn't get past putting even a little weight on that leg.

"Maybe you should go home so you can keep off it ..." He paused for a moment. "Or back to my place so i can make sure you stay off of it until it's healed." That would be better than Kaleb trying to hop around his own apartment and ending up twisting the other ankle on a pile of books.

"I-I can stay here, really," he insisted, briefly glancing up at Riley with his most convincing expression before going back to trying to figure out how to get to the ice and somewhere to sit. If he could only get back to the office with the ice pack, he could sit on the couch and spend the day there so Riley wouldn't have to leave work to take him home or anything.

"I guess if you stay on the couch." He sighed and looped an arm around Kaleb. "Come on. I'll help ya to the office and then get ya some ice."
