Evan dipped his head thoughtfully. Someone else had it... he had a few guesses who. Before he left on this fool's quest, the good Doctor Iskugawa, madman, had escaped from his holding cell. If he had any indication as to who to look for first, it would be him. And then, there was the as-yet missing General Bakkar, who had yet to awnser for his crimes. He had to be the next on the list.

The Preacher was already dead... unfortunately. So he was out of the picture.

And then, something else occured to him. The notes. The notes about that arm... about Vahn. It stated something about modifications to it- repairs that had been made. If he knew Ymir, he knew that someone had tinkered with the Flame-Hand. And as the thought occured to him...

Gods, no. I may know who he is looking for.

Ah, did I think about meat? Why yes, I did think about meat! I'll tell you about The Ring for more, I'd advise haste before old frosty gets on to me and guards his thoughts a little better. Besides, I can't bother to listen to all these crack-pot schemes on an empty stomach.

It's best not to listen anyway. Let him guard his thoughts- I already have a plan to counter him. This is the last one.

He cut off another piece of meat and tossed it towards Freki

I have to eat too, you know.

He blathers so loudly with his empty thoughts that I'll have to seal him better to get some sleep.

*Yawn*

It seems he wishes to use the Nibelung Ring with his next avatar for some purpose. Has kept it in a labyrinth for some time with a hoarde of other stolen trinkets you may already know of, and now he is just thinking of using it. Only thinking though, he's afraid of that artifact, and the curse it carries. Maybe he has a bit of sense after all, I'll tell him to keep quiet for his own good. If you preffer to be greedy, then I preffer rest to further conversation. The girl is tired.

Freki put her head down and closed her eyes gently, exhausted. It was time to get some sleep.

Evan smirked.

Something that the old b*****d is afraid of... that curse is indeed powerful. Hence why he hid it away. I admit, I don't want to touch it either. But the other trinkets, I will take. He will not have the Aesir's last remaining artifacts for long.

As for the Ring... I want it destroyed.

Set in his path, he allowed himself to start eating again. Vahn. The Aesir's posessions. Draupnir and Nibelung. So many possibilities and so many advantages. Dangers too, but what was anything without that?

And with that, he continued eating.

All this for Melissa's sake... but some of it for my own as well.

*Karasu passed Evan her portion of the meal when he appeared to have all the information out of the wolf that he needed, after all, the storm outside was actualy recharging her better than aany human food would ever be able to do*

Evan shrugged. He knew why she didn't want any.

Hell, part of him didn't need that much food either, but hey- it was rather good to taste something new. And no, well-cooked dragon meat did not taste like chicken. It tasted better. Much better. He figured that this trip may not be so bad after all, and as long as he got the extra incentive of retrieving the real Balmung from whoever or whatever had it, everything would go a bit smoother.

Idunn first, howver. Anything else would be a distraction, including the path that led towards the dwarves. Now he had all the information he needed to proceed forward.

All he had to do now was wait. Wait for this storm to blow over.

"Thank you, Karasu."

And he just kept eating.

"My Lady..."

A youth with blond curls much like Hakan's stepped in from out of the storm, a cloak of dragonskin covering his shoulders. But it could not have been Hakan, as this youth was at least fifteen, and his arms were wrapped around a small green haired woman who's mere presence seemed to fill the cave with apples. Both of them were covered in snow, the woman looked as if she was crying "..be careful where you step. Geri and Freki are not known as clean eaters."

He turned to Evan, "Your mind spoke of seeking someone?"

The Gods curse that boy... where was he? Evan hoped that he hadn't gotten himself killed in the storm.

And then, just as he asked himself that question, someone entered. Someone older... but he looked similar. Then again, he wouldn't make the assumption. As for the girl... apples. The smell was everywhere, but it came from her. What they were looking for had to be further up the mountain, but just in case...

"And... who might you be to ask? And the woman with you..."

He would answer the boy's question as soon as his own was answered. He took another bite of his meal as he waited. Once again, he didn't believe in coincidence, but Geri was gone for too long. This couldn't be Hakan, and if it was, the next question would be where the other wolf was...

o.0*Karasu flicked her fingers at the pair and a little gust of wind gently blew the snow back out beyond her ward at the cave mouth. The young man was a bit of a puzzle... She was almost certain that he was indeed Hakan, after all she could make herself appear any way she chose, and in the past Hugins Gods could do the same... but the rules were a bit different these days and she was uncertain if they were dealing with the same factors as in the past* Welcome...

Hakan smiled, that wonderfully childish smile, "You don't think you are the only one who can appear as you choose, old bird." Though the term of disrespect was said with affection. It was not his intention to p***k at Evan's pride, but merely to genially tease.

"This young lady of beauty is known as Atal." She was beautiful and strangely barefooted, but she seemed not cold. Atal bowed beautifully, her head lowered demurely.

Melissa awoke at the scent, Freki became active as well.

The fragrance was light and lovely, exactly the same as the contents of the canteen that had been dumped upon her in the Temple of Ymir several months ago. All the memories of that strange day which she thought were behind her came rushing back. After that water had fallen her, she remembered feeling funny. It was like she was reliving it, shrinking from a young woman with a promising medical career to mere a twelve year old before Laselle had saved her from oblivian by youth. The shock of seeing her face in the mirror that time, it didn't hit her then as much as it did now, because then she had been so concerned about Sallea. She remembered everything become twice as large, and then becoming even smaller after she emerged from that horrible nightmare pillar of ice and darkness. From that time on, nothing had been the same. Somehow, she had grown comfortable with being an eight year old girl, but now, here she was, not even a kid, not even human, she was a dog. gonk

Freki nodded, sniffing for Geri.

Evan simply nodded, as if the fact were evident. Truthfully, he asked because he didn't want to make any guesses. Guessing was one thing- knowing was another. Now he knew. With that question out of the way, the next question came forth... the question of where Geri was. If he was here, Evan didn't see the wolf walk in.

But before he asked...

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Atal. Rather interesting that you smell quite heavily of apples... not that it's an unpleasant thing. It's just curious."

It was too curious, but once again he made no assumptions and no guesses. Best to find out openly rather than stab in the dark. At least, it was for now. Usually, he would ask who she was... or rather, what her real name was. This time however, he figured enough questions had been asked. He kept his thoughts to himself, choosing to wait until her identity revealed itself. But if he wanted to be honest with himself, there was only one who smelled this heavily of apples...

As Hakan ushered Atal inside, towards the fire, Geri finally came padding in, his fur covered in snow as he dragged another large haunch of beast over toa corner. Apparently, he's just stopped for another snack. Though apparently, he wasn't up to sharing with Freki. He seemed almost distrustful of her, in fact.

Atal smiled at Evan shyly, and sat down, letting Hakan wrap his dragon skin cloak around her form. "Atal was raised in the Grecian islands strangely enough. Her father thought her mother had cuckholded him when she was born with hair as green as the apples she always smells of." The woman merely blushed prettily and curled into the skin cloak. It was then that it was noticable that Hakan's arm, that had been under the cloak was covered in blood as he reache dup into a crevice in the cave wall.

Light flared, and suddenly the cave was much deeper and more comfortable than it was before. Evan could see further back. There were comfortable pallets, even a dining table with one chair at it's head, a soliatary raven at it's head, and both arm rests made to look like wolves.

That chair.

There was something that sparked a memory when he looked at it, but he couldn't place it. He had seen it before... Saving his other thoughts for later, he moved further into the cavern. He saw Hakan's bleeding arm, and thoughts of the chair dissolved as Evan's expression turned blank.

Now was the time for questions.

"Your arm... what happened to it?"
