It didn't take aslong as the day before to get farther on the path then before. They passed the pond that almost claimed Pinnka's poke'ball, and eventually got more then halfway to Jubilife. Tired from her quickpace Anklina decided to rest abit. Only awhile. Sitting down by a tree she let Pinnka run around, however the poke'mon kept close, and simple played with her poke'ball near Anklina. Intreged on this Anklina pulled out her sketchpad, and started to draw Pinnka. It was a quick sketch, but good in Anklina's eyes. "Pinnka. Come over here please." Anklina called to her playing poke'mon. She looked, up, and came over holding her poke'ball. "Do you like this?" She asked holding up the picture. Pinnka looked confused at first, but chirped at the picture, she did like it. Satisfyed, Gin packed her sketch pad, and started walking again. It wouldn't be long now.

She was finally outside Jubilife still on the route that seperated Sandgem, and it... The city that looked so big, like you'd never seen it before, and you were now just seeing it. Anklina always felt that way, even if she'd passed threw this city only a few days before. Looked down at Pinnka in her arms, she sucked her in her breath and walked in.

Solaris sighed as she entered Sandgem. It was exactly as she had expected: a beachside town with boardwalks, a salty sea breeze, warm temperatures, and sand. Everywhere. She reached down and set Orion on the ground before unzipping the front of her boots and tucking her pants legs in them. She zipped them back up afterwards; she was not in a mood to get sand in her pants today.
"Come on," she called to her pokemon, striding forward into the town, her boots tapping against the hot asphalt. The town was quite the contrast to Twinleaf, with its warm weather and inviting, make that luring, tourist-trap atmosphere. Inviting you to come see its sandy shores and blue seas.
Solaris knew she had fallen into its trap, but who could resist? She chuckled quietly to herself as she walked into the town looking for a place of interest, not quite ready for lunch. Idly she made a note to visit the beach later on; perhaps in the late afternoon or at night when it wasn't as crowded. After all, there were bound to be people there no matter the time of year- she knew Sandgem was considered the best vacation beach. Sunyshore's tiny beach just didn't compare.
Sol's eyes landed on a beachside street full of tourist shops, no doubt filled with trinkets and baubles. She figured this would be a good place to start; no doubt one of these places would have a map, and they could examine some interesting objects on the way. She pointed out their destination to Orion, and when he nodded, eyes full of curiosity, they walked across the intersection to the shops.

A little bell of the door tinkled quietly as Sol pushed it open, entering quietly. She glanced around the semi-dark shop. It appeared to be filled with several household decorations and nothing else.
She saw no one as Orion followed her in, and she glanced around once more just to make sure. She shrugged before wandering over to a shelf that held several sea shells. Sol picked up a large conch and turned it over. The twisted spiral of a shell was quite smooth all around, and was a pearly white on the outside, a pale pink on the inside.
"Have you ever listened to the sea in a shell?" she asked Orion causally. The charmander, who had been looking over some sea stones on the shelves at his height, glanced up at her.
"Char?" he questioned, confused. Sol smiled and bent down, handing it to him. Gingerly he took it and put the opening to the side of his head, his eyes growing distant as he listened. Sol resisted an urge to laugh at his appearance; how many times did you get to see a charmander with a shell to his ear?
The pokemon's eyes widened as the air echoed around in the shell. "Charmander," he said in a surprised tone as he handed it back to her. She couldn't resist laughing this time as she gently set the conch back on its perch.
"Yeah," she said, looking at it for a moment longer. "They say that each shell has a part of the sea's spirit in it, which is why we hear that noise." Her tone was light as she began looking over other shells of various shapes and sizes.

Sol looked up as she heard footsteps and a rattling sound, and found the source rather quickly. A woman, perhaps in her late thirties, had appeared, walking through a doorframe that had several beads of strings hanging on it. Most likely they were what had made that clattering noise.
The woman herself had straw colored hair, which was tied back in a ponytail and revealed her sharp blue eyes and angular face. She looked around, and gave a friendly smile upon spotting Sol.
"Well, well. I must admit, when I came out here to see who it was, I wasn't expecting a trainer and their pokemon," she laughed, approaching. "I'm Susan, the owner of this little shop." Sol smiled.
"I'm Sol," she said in her quiet voice. "My friend here is Orion." The woman nodded.
"What brings you here, Sol?" she questioned.
"Oh, I just like to look around towns when I visit them. There's always something interesting to see or do," she responded. "I'm not the type of trainer who goes immediately to the next town for their gym badge and trains their pokemon all the time." Susan laughed.
"Thank mew. All I've been seeing lately is trainers battling on the beach out there," she said, nodding towards the window display. Sol glanced out. Indeed, some trainers were out there even now. "Find anything interesting?" Sol nodded, smiling lightly. She had just been looking over the sea stones and a particularly pretty blue-green opal had caught her eye. It was at a relatively cheap price, and so she pointed to it.
"I'd like that one, please," she murmured, and Susan nodded. She whistled, and a large haunter suddenly phased through the walls.
"Phase! Please get that rock," she ordered. Phase nodded, and floated over to where the case was. Sol stepped aside and the haunter reached a hand through the glass, picking up the rock by his clawtips, removing it from the case with his ghostly abilities. He then dropped it in a small velvety bag his master had fetched while he was working.
"Haunter, haunter," the pokemon said eagerly, and Susan smiled at him. She tied up the bag's drawstring and handed it to Sol, who in return placed some money in her palm. Sol made for the door, and then paused.
"By chance, would you have any maps?" she questioned. Susan frowned, then shook her head.
"A store a few doors down will probably have one, though," she added, and Sol thanked her before leaving with Orion.

Sol looked around as she exited the shop. Now, which shop out of all of these might have a map of Sandgem? Or a brochure or something would do. She began walking past them at a slow pace with Orion, gazing through the large window displays. Almost all seemed to have beach-going apparel such as beach towels and swimsuits, with a few other stores mixed in between. They even passed by a glass-blowing shop; she made a mental note to check that out later.
Sol couldn't prevent a slight grimace as she passed by yet another swimsuit shop; she wasn't very fond of swimming. Swimsuits were a bit too revealing for her tastes, and she preferred to keep the necklace with her, hidden under her shirt at all times. She was strange, though; if it suited her and the weather was nice, she was prone to jumping in in her shirt and pants. Or if she was pushed in, like that one time...
She shook her head angrily. This was not the time to be letting her mind wander. She had to keep her guard up, and a fresh wave of anxiety washed over her as she began to scan the crowds. Who knew what their alliances were?
Orion, meanwhile, was gazing longingly at the beach and the very-likely hot sand that rested upon it. It would feel so good in the sunlight, no doubt, and he hoped his trainer would find a map soon so they could get a room, perhaps at a motel, and stay here for a day or two.
Orion scanned the crowds as he felt his owner's sudden anxiety. He looked around, and idly figured his trainer was merely overexamining her situation. He looked up at the next shop, and saw a large bookstore, with some brochures inside. He began pulling his trainer towards it, hoping she'd loosen up soon.

Solaris paused outside the bookshop, looking around at the window. It was a two-storied place, with a few customers browsing the selections. She entered the shop, not intending to stay long.
Orion dragged her over to the brouchure stand, where she quickly gazed over them. Sol immediately spotted several relating to Sandgem's finer places and hotels, as well as some maps at the bottom. She took a couple of the free brochures- one on hotels and resturants, and a map as well- and walked out, opening one up as she did.
"Oh," she murmured, surprised. "So there is a Pokemon Center here. We'll be fine staying there, then." Orion shrugged; he couldn't really care less where they stayed so long as it had food and a place to sleep. Quickly his trainer folded the brochure back up and looked around, spotting the Pokemon Center almost instantly. She began walking towards it, back in the direction they came from. They'd have to reserve a room there before they were all taken.

Solaris looked around as she entered the pokemon center, uncomfortable as several trainers and their pokemon turned their inquiring gazes on her. She had never been comfortable in these places, but she had no reason to worry now. She forced herself to appear relaxed as she walked up to the counter.
"Hi," Nurse Joy chimed, smiling at her. "How may I help you?"
"I'd like to reserve a room for a day, please," she requested, surprised at how calm-sounding her voice was. Nurse Joy beamed.
"Just for tonight? Of course!" she said happily, motioning to the blissey beside her. It obidently held up a key card for an unclaimed room. Nurse Joy handed it to her, along with a touch-screen pen. She then turned a computer screen to her. "If you'll just sign here...?" Sol did as she requested, signing her full name on the screen in the indicated area. "Great! Your room number is 713, and that card will grant you access. Would you like someone to take some things up to your room?" Sol hesitated, then removed the sea stone and a couple other items not as valuable. Nurse Joy beamed again and handed them to the blissey, who wandered off.
"Your room will be available until noon tomorrow, in which case you may reserve it again. Come see us again soon!" Sol nodded quickly, placing the card in her cloak's pocket and walking out. Being so heavily dressed, she was attracting a lot of stares. It was unnerving.
"Come on, Orion," she said abruptly. "Let's visit the beach, 'kay?" Orion nodded happily as he and his trainer started down to the shoreline.

Solaris led Orion down the boardwalk to the point where it faded into the beach. Orion got onto all fours and paced after his trainer, enjoying the feel of the warm sand.
Sol's boots sent sand scattering in every direction as they walked down to the shore. She knew how crowded it would be, and she was right, so she looked for somewhere with less people, eventually wandering over to the right hand side of it. She took a seat on a low, flat rock, brought her boots up, and brushed the sand off of them. She then watched Orion playing in the sand with other people's pokemon.
She gave a quiet sigh; this beach was too populated for her tastes. She preferred to be with pokemon- creatures that wouldn't judge her so harshly.

Solaris looked up as she heard a sudden chittering noise behind her. She looked over her shoulder, and saw a bidoof glaring angrily at her. Apparently she was sitting on the rock where it liked to sunbathe. Quietly she got up, offering the pokemon its spot, but apparently it wanted more than that, as it charged her with tackle. She swiftly dodged it and looked for her pokemon.
"Orion!" she called. The charmander looked up, and ran over to her on all fours. "Ready for a little fight?" she questioned, and he nodded, facing the bidoof with a confident smirk.

Sol narrowed her eyes as she looked over the beaver-like pokemon. "Scratch," she said, then blinked, surprised at the coldness in her own voice. Orion nodded and leapt, one paw outstretched, raking his claws down the beaver's back.

The bidoof bared its long incisiors at Orion and rammed into him full force, his tackle attack forcing Orion backwards and into the sand. The charmander groaned and leapt up, annoyed.

"Scratch again!" Sol ordered, watching the battle calmly. Orion growled and leapt at the bidoof, teeth bared. He raked his claws down the beaver's back again, and the pain was too much for the weaker pokemon. The bidoof keeled over in the sand. Orion grinned shakily; half his health was gone and it made him rather tired.

Solaris took pity on the fainted pokemon and picked it up gently, setting it on its rock. She sighed quietly and turned to Orion, who was watching her and panting slightly. With each pant, there emerged a little flame, flickering just beyond his mouth. She smiled.
"C'mon," she said to him, picking him up so he didn't have to walk. "We'll go back to the center and get something there to have for dinner, 'kay?" Orion nodded, moving in her arms to get in a better position.
Sol finally began to walk when he nestled his head on her shoulder. She knew exactly where it was and took the fastest route she knew of to get back to the pokemon center.
