This year's marching season for me is almost done. Only two more games, Area, State, and maybe another marching competition to go. But my show this year is called "Metamorphosis" by Paul Hindemith. Four movements...
1- Symphony in Bb 2- Turandot 3- Engelkonzert 4- Konzertmusik Op. 50
Yes, that's how they're spelled. It's good, since my school's percussion director ARRANGED the whole show. Also, we have a "set zero" at the start of the show, which is a very tight circle, and looks very good. I love this year's show, so I know next year's will be better!

Our show was called "Distorted: A view from the other side" It featured music from the Cirque du soliel show "La Nouba" It had 3 movements: Urban Reve Rouge (Red Dream) A La Lune (To the Moon)
The theird was my favorite, because it had a circus-y feel, plus I got a 32 measure solo in it while the rest of the band had to dance a corny dance

We were one of the two bands in the state doing this level of show. The other band got like a Division 2 in UIL with this kind of show, and my band got Division 1 with this show cool biggrin smile . We came so close to making it to the Texas State Marching compition with this.

We did "In the Shadow of Dragons". It was cool. We just did our PIMBA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association) championships Oct. 29 and came in 2nd out of 3 in quad A. We were supposed to win all of our shows, I've heard, but one of the judges, Mark Ortega, doesn't like us... crying Oh-well! xoxo

We're playing Seasons of Color. It's composed of "Ride" "October" "Endurance" and "fantasia in G" Each one represents a season, starting with summer and ending in spring. Ride is really fast, and first aprt is hard, but it's fun. October is slow, with a nice woodwind feature. Endurance is kinda weird, but it has the drum solo which means VISUALS. Blah. Fantasia is fast with lots of triplets. There's four walls out on the field with airbrushed paintings of trees in the different seasons. it's cool, fall looks like it's on fire.

We sorta have two different titles for our show, "The End" and "The Firebird Legend" Song list as follows in order..
Mars - Holst 4th Symphony Finale (Tchaikovsky) Night on Bald Mountain (Muggorwsky or something like that.) (Music of the Night - chords) In the Hall of the Mountain King (3rd mvmt of Peer Gynt? Suite) (Grieg) Baba Yaga (I think it's part of Pictures of a Exhibition, but I'm not sure.) Firebird Suite
It's basically the endings of all these powerful and famous songs. It's really really good, the book is really difficult yet we seem to pull it off. Ours scores are in the mid/high-seventies in our circuit.
In case it matters, I'm from Independence High School in San Jose, CA

Nyo...
Our's was called 'Prisms', playing music from La Nouba.
Our flags all had pretty colors, and the sashes of the band were different colors depending on their instruments/sections. The four colors were blue, yellow, purple, and red. Silver was also there, but it was regarded as 'colorless'.
We have these giant four-sided prism props ((four of them)) and they spin around and change colors and such. At the end of the show, the band takes off their sashes and tosses them into the air while in a giant circle across the field, before bunching up together. Ish vair cool. XD
Opener: La Nouba Opener Ballad: Reve Rouge ((no, we didn't have a singing lady, it was just fluties and clarinets.XD)) Closure: Distorted/Urban

Our show during the UIL marching season was Malguena and included: 1) Malaga 2) A Mis Abuelos 3) Malaguena
For football playoffs it's a military march to "Strategic Air Command" and "National Emblem".
Personally, I thought our show last year (UIL Disney Millenium Celebration and playoff military march to "Noble Men Of Kyle") was better but I loved the latin theme this year.
