We are underappreciated though. Don't see what was wrong with their post.
We have about 27 percussionists in our band. 2 are in fall concert band instead of marching band, 13 are in the battery and 11 are in the pit. Our pit has 13 people in it. Our pit is crowded. Our percussion teacher had trouble having parts for everyone.
Hmm..pit wise...7 of the 13 people are guys. 2 are Seniors (non-percussionists both), 2 are juniors, 3 are sophomores, 6 are freshmen (including myself).
We live in a decent sized town...decent sized band.

Our Pit is lucky to have our percussion instructor writing our showbook then, I guess. enough parts for everybody to play. our section is 24 strong, 13 Line 11 pit, and we have the hardest book out of any I've heard all year. at the end of the season I may scan a few pages in and let you behold that which is our drum solo. 9 bars of 16'ths at 152 for four of our six keyboard players. P.S: anybody here heard of Edward Freytag?

I think we win against your 152 (what's your music?). Our show is supposed to be at 180, but we're playing it at 172. At a few parts, there were 16th notes for 9 beats, followed by a trill, being played by 5 of our 7 keyboard players (including our bells, which hardly count, because they really don't play 16ths, ever). Since then, I've been cut out of that bit, but that's not important.
It is important however, that I've now been cut out of all runs that are more than two counts of 16ths. That sucks. And it pisses me off. My last one was cut last night. That was about the only thing in our show that I still find challenging, and now I don't even play it. Great. My part can now be officially declared BORING! (2nd vibes)

But my parts are fun, and my section leader is teaching me four mallet technique. wink
