Serrekhar

"Well, I didn't know they were ON her!" He growled, wincing from his own bleeding wounds thanks to those sharp little claws. A voice he hadn't heard before suddenly rang through his mind, and Serrekhar paused before slowly, carefully doing his best to try and inch away from the rest of those adorable (dangerous) dragon feet.

Trying to pull earned a sharp slice of agony against his back, and he held still once more. Okay. Not quite free yet. That was fine. He was cool. This was fine. He could feel a sudden shifting of weight, and the young man grit his teeth sharply as there were a few more sharp stabs.... and then--freedom!

He moved gingerly, not wanting to upset the dragonets or provoke anymore violence as he crawled his way away from them before staggering up and onto his feet. "That... was somethin'." He said aloud, a little dazed.

Faranth, he'd been (still was?) shardin' scared, actually, but he couldn't let anyone know that.

Allamor

Seeing that Bionden was helping settle Zaexillia, Allamor did the first thing that he thought of. Serrekhar got a look but the wounds didn't appear as bad. He scooped Oreune up in his arms and moved as quickly as he could without running towards the healers. “Keep pressure on it. We are almost there.” He told Oreune. Spotting Tristram he headed that way.

Amahno

An impression dance was a new one, and Amahno couldn't help but think there was something entirely charming and unique about it, watching both the too-short moment between the newly minted goldrider and occasionally glancing to Rahimar. He'd at least be able to say he knew her before she was extra-cool to everybody else....

would she still let him beg for food, though?

He leaned into the kiss on his cheek when it was given, lifting a hand to set it on her shoulder. "Hopefully if you save a spot I'll be there soon enough!" he said with a smile, seeing Nashwa off a few steps before - WELL! Everything! Another brown, a squabble between siblings, and so much more!

"Man. You get one moment of peace," but it didn't sound like he was complaining. It would have been a shame for a single impression to be the end of all of the fun, right?

Raiden [WW] - 18 - he/his/him - Candidate/Apprentice Beastcrafter

He was glad there had been no hidden shard of eggshell in that goop. The thought of Bion losing an eye over a tiny accident like this… unthinkable! As for Tribal Bronze- well, the dragonet’s attention seemed to turn inwards, it seemed, and Raiden relaxed a fraction.

With the hatching and consequent hiding-hug of Orange Leopard Green, Raiden’s heart was soothed once more. This was a hatching, not a bloodbath… his sisters weren’t going to die. Silly him! He smiled as mother and daughter enjoyed their time together.

Many things seemed to occur, a lot of it so very quickly. Rose Green was accidentally injured, tended to by her white father, then rescued by a loving bondmate. Tribal Bronze found his bonded- also good. The gold queen found hers- not Bion, as Raiden had hoped (for she was most deserving, and who better, right?), but no doubt the perfect partner. The Blues were locked in a contest of who looked more impressive- which was hard to say as they both seemed very impressive to Raiden…

And yet, it was the apparently-sleeping brown, and one of his green siblings that would have the next big moment. It seemed she did not appreciate his resting spot, and the fight that ensued caused mayhem amongst the candidates. Bionden moved out of the way- but the other guy from before wasn’t so lucky, and some others too… Raiden drew back, wanting to pull his sister away before she got her- but she insisted on helping others to a safer position.

He turned to watch the intervention, hoping the dragonets might Impress and the violence would once again disappear. Shards, this hatching was fraught with emotion. “Does anybody need any help standing?” He tried to get closer- but not too close to the dragons, offering a hand or an arm to a candidate who thought they could stand on their feet with support.

He was, perhaps, privately surprised Allamor remained upright despite the gash in his leg- but he wouldn’t say impressed. He would never admit to that.

Oreune

It was the stomp that did it, the strong push down deep into her gut that had her wheeze and choke all at once. She saw stars again, then light, and the voices? There was no pain, at least not any that she could register, and she attempted to roll over only to find that nothing seemed to be moving at her command. It was like she could feel her arms and legs, but they weren't really there. She smelled iron, tasted iron, and the sand burned against her back.

And then, she was up, moving, flying? What happened to being on the sands? Something was above her, a face she felt she should know, one of the voices, and Oreune's eyes narrowed as she tried to place it. Pressure? On what? It hurt to touch her stomach, it was wet too. It had been the stomp, that dragon.

She coughed up more blood. This was. Ah. "It stopped hurting."

Rundanrul - Western

Finally the sneaky dragon revealed itself and for a moment Rundanrul thought he saw a shimmer of another metallic hide...but it was just a little bit of egg goop remaining on the brown's back. While he'd accept a brown - his grandfather had ridden one after all - there was still a sulky bronze on the sands that he wanted to move again, but at least there were other options.

...even if one was still snarling and hissing at his sisters.

---

Surel - Western

As another green joined the fray and the sneaky brown made his appearance, Surel's view was obstructed a bit by Etansi's frame. She was instantly thankful but a bit worried for the other Candidat's safety, not wanting her to get caught up in things should they move this way. The last thing she wanted was for anyone to get hurt, of course, but the three around her had a bit more priority.

Taking a little step back in case Etansi needed to dodge, she glanced between her and Dystzha, worrying her lower lip just a bit.

---

Vimeran - High Reaches

The request, though said with a joking tone, reminded Vimeran that Niviora was incapable of making a quick move to dodge an incoming baby if need be. His normal scowl was replaced with a deeper frown as he glanced at her for a moment. The rules of hatching were simple: don't interfere, if a baby attacks with intent or on accident just let it happen, try to protect your softer areas. Don't try to pull them off another Candidate.

But...were there rules about trying to move out of the way? He didn't think so. So far no dragon had attacked with intent, it was more that they were arguing and fighting among themselves and the Candidates were in the way. Surely if he kept a close eye he'd be able to see if one or two were heading their way and help Niviora move.

"Hopefully it says over there," he said by way of answer, though he did shift his stance just a bit from a passive position to one ready for action, the weight on the balls of his feet and one foot ahead of the other by just a few inches. This way he could move and move quickly if he needed to, and hopefully drag Niviora along with him. If worst came to worst he could always tackle her to the ground. That would gain them a few extra feet of movement at least.

Josen

"Why else would she have been shouting for them to get OFF her?" Josen asked, slowly rising back up to his feet and giving Serrekhar a less-than-gentle punch in the arm before he stepped back. They were, after all, still fairly close to some babies and it probably would have been better for everybody if they just...

gave a little space.

Zaexillia [WW] - 16 - she/her/hers - Candidate/Apprentice Healer

It was Ansirien’s familiar, comforting voice that broke through her automation, and Zae started, realising what had happened. A new wave of pain suffused her and she gritted her teeth, frowning. “I…” Help me up, she wanted to say. She wanted to plead with him to be taken away and comforted, but her eyes fell to the candidates still trapped and a surge of adrenaline pushed its way through her body. They needed help. The dragonets still needed help too, it seemed.

But it looked like help came in many forms- the stealthy dragon from before revealed himself at that moment, brown in colour. He convinced his sister to step away, freeing some of those trapped. Another candidate- Zae recognised her as an older, fellow weyrbrat by the name of Bionden- offered to help her up, and she nodded, pale and resolute. “Yes, please.” She took Bion’s hand and staggered to her feet, her leg weak from the wound. She caught herself, clutching the other woman’s arms.

“Stay safe…” She whispered to Ansirien, pale blue eyes almost haunted in expression.

Sivu - [He/Him] - Western Weyr
Oh there was the sneaky one! A little brown, speaking with the voice of reason. Clearly they were waiting for their moment! And no better moment then to speak what's on ones mind. He stayed very still - and very much behind his stalwart protector. Those claws looked..awfully sharp. Hopefully the candidate under them would still be quite alright.

Orange Leopard Spot Green had been cuddled up with Khamaith, oozing nothing but love--but the sight of the rucous on the sands had her immediately on high alert.

Oh dear.

That was... a lot.

With a lazy stretch, the green rose from her position against her mother and decided to make her way over. She was in no rush, but there was a hint of yellow in her gaze. Hey now.. Are you all right, sistermine? She crooned lovingly at her hissing and spitting sister, though she did turn her eyes to the Candidates. All of that mess. Still, her concern was her sister to start, especially with so many Candidates tending each other. Though it was a great risk, she did begin to trail the Green Striped Pink green.

- - - -

Pink Striped Green had come to a screeching halt when all the commotion began. What? What was going on? Still, the little green was more than happy to be a spectator for a change, despite the fact she was bouncing from one foot to the next. It was like watching a herdbeast accident, really--not that she'd ever seen one of those.

Sneaking up through the Candidates, the little green sat down next to Fahn, and leaned against her.

Woah! What happened? Wish I'd been here so I could jump in on all the fun. A fight sure sounded great... especially since this little green was ever-so-confident that everything would be fine! A little (or a lot) of rough and tumble was never a bad thing--nevermind that there were Candidates getting rushed off the Sands, and Candidates might well be fatally injured. She wasn't worried about a thing.

Her energy, while still buzzing beneath her, was on a temporary lull. This was way more interesting than any game she could have thought of... Besides which, she was kind of hungry. [i[I think everything will be okay, don't you, FahnMine? My sister sure looks mad... But I bet she was just blowing off some steam. Want to eat? I sure do! Then I want to play and have a bath and get oiled and mostly just play some more. You'll play with your Alenciath, won't you Mine? We'll have the best of time together, you and I, for always.

Serrekhar

He scowled mightily at that, his temper flaring up when he got socked. "Ow! I outta shove you under a dragon and see how you like it!" Where was that girl, anyway? He faltered for a moment when he realized she was being raced to the healers, feeling his heart sink in his chest. Anger forgotten, Serrekhar forced himself to turn back to Josen. "Uh. You okay?"

The healer had been ready and waiting by the time Allamor carried Oreune over to him - hands already cleansed, he reached for the redwort to begin the process of cleaning the wound. Of course, it was very evident from the moment Tristram spied the gut wound that Oreune was in a bad way. Gut wounds were never clean, never easy, and this was no exception. "Drink this," he said, putting fellis to her lips as he prepared to clean the wound. She'd need a dose, a careful dose. He didn't bother to wait to find out if she obeyed him, tilting the lip of the cup so that she had to drink it.

It was immediately evident that the dragonet had managed to gore her, and badly. Getting the wound cleaned and closed was a race against time, but if he didn't clean it... if he didn't clean it, she likely would die of infection, if she didn't die now. Faranth, these cases were the ones he hated, a child in his arms and all he could do was move as carefully and quickly as he could. With steady hands, he cleaned the wound. Then, hardly thinking about what happened next, he began to dress it.

Ansirien

"Zae..." Ansirien was near tears as Bionden helped his sister off the sands, shaking with fear and furious and ashamed of himself. He had let Zae down; he hadn't protected her from getting trampled by the green (whom he of course held blameless, emotions ran wild in newly hatched dragon babies); and in the end, he hadn't even carried her to the healers. He was a coward, unworthy of aspiring to be a dragonrider.

He didn't flee the sands, though, no matter how much he wanted to. Forcing back his tears, he turned back to face the dragonets and the eggs still wobbling and cracking. Ansirien owed it to his sister to continue to stand. And stand he would.

Anneke of green Uluth

From up in the Stands, Anneke -- who had jumped to her feet as well -- shoved both fists up in the air and shouted, "Good choice, little sister!" as yet another green Impression became clear.

Haveli

It looked like the spirited dragonet was Impressing to someone, so that was another green down. Haveli had, admittedly, pulled her gaze away when the fighting continued on and she'd all but squeezed them shut at that stomp. Was the girl dead? And the boy as well, for it seemed at least two of them went down despite the first brown dragonet screaming someone was important. Who of them, then? The girl who was being run over to healers, or the guy who was standing with his friend, a little worse for the wear? Neither of them were okay, really, and Haveli just tried to push a smile on.

She was here for herself, not for them, so what did it really matter? Her chances still lay on the sands with the remaining greens and blues and browns, now that the gold was a wash. Still, she shuddered with thankfulness. That could have been her, and she wouldn't wish that on anyone.

--

Oreune

She became aware that something was being poured into her mouth, and while initially she coughed against it eventually it was swallowed down. Whatever it was was supposed to help, right? Even though for her it probably wouldn't, because again it was just her luck. "Ju...st my llluuck, right?" She looked at Tristram with a smile, her lips trembling as her eyes squinted. "F...four dragons, none of them..f..fo..for me. I...I should have...stayed in bed." Were candidates even allowed to skip hatchings?

If....if she made it through this, she would have to ask next time. But for now, she just wanted to go home. Not to the hall, but home. "S.s..s.sssorr...rry for ....y..yyyeel..lling. Tell....A..A'r - " She coughed again before going silent, her eyes still watching Tristram.

Please, she thought, don't let me die.
