Allison [5 - 1 = 4]

The wind was bad enough. Adding in Wraiths just made the situation more complicated, especially with Chris's... Circumstances. Wraiths swarmed at them, and while Alli appreciated that Chris kept his promise of not letting her hand go, she felt guilt over the energy she was sure he was losing at her expense.

She used her free hand to swing at the Wraiths, and each one that shattered gave her some of her energy back.

"Dude, I'm a DC Original, I've lived here since all of this s**t started going down," Zachary retorted smartly, nevertheless reaching for Chara's hand as he staggered to his feet. "I've fought off monsters before, it's not my fault that the wind here is ridiculous."

He shoved lightly at Chara, but it a soft push with all the open not-ground around, something an older brother might do to his kid sibling. "Alright, alright, I get it," he responded in regards to the helpless line, crossing his arms."I live at Weenie Hut Junior's and you're the beefiest kid in a top hat, ha ha. Ha."

"But thanks I guess," he added sheepishly, staring hard at the cracking ground beneath them. He didn't notice the wraiths initially, only Chara's shout, and the hesitation as he looked back up was just long enough that they were upon him without warning, each pass sapping a little more of the light from his eyes.

"...what the..." He swung lazily at one of the specters as they passed him by,
and it seemed to restore enough to get his feet moving again. "...When this is over, I'm taking a nap," he muttered as he continued to shuffle forward, trying his best to just keep his head down.

With the sobering realization that the dreamscape that Katie found herself in might actually be real, she began to put a little extra pep in her step, suddenly entirely aware of the number of people here, the costumes, the sheer number of otherworldly power she was witnessing. Should she have become Chauvet for this? Was she not meant to? She hadn't really tried to find her ball lately, life had been so busy, was it something she no longer had access to? Was it something she'd ever really earned?

Katie didn't have much time to consider what that meant, given the strange wispy creatures that seemed to take to their little road. She heard screams from above and so she braced as one went rushing for her, only to feel her body sag as a wave of exhaustion passed over her like a shroud, the wisp a little brighter for having moved through her.

"Wait--no," she insisted, whirling on her heels to swing at the thief with arms that felt too heavy. As it disappeared, she felt life come back into her limbs, but it was a brief reprive--soon there were others, more that were sapping at the edges of her consciousness.

Shaking her head to keep herself focused, she pressed on.

Well, she certainly didn’t expect the nickname, but something about it helped to settle her. It was horrible that people were getting hurt, that people were falling off this horrible platform, that they were pretty hopelessly stuck there. But she was also incredibly grateful to find someone like Bob who let her stay close and kept her from getting blown off the path.

She tried to muster up the rest of courage she had left and nodded to her catman friend.

Just as the air was filled with screams and howls and creepy looking ghosts swarming towards them. Sliding her backpack off her shoulders, she tried to swing at the wraiths as they swooped through the air, and even through them, each pass making her feel more and more exhausted.

“Come on, come on,” she tried to encourage, reaching out for Bob’s hand as she ducked under another of the ghost things. They were no good out in the open like that. They needed to get under cover. She was just lucky she was shorter and could slip under them and… was really… incredibly tired…

“Okay… one small break,” she panted and practically slowed to a stop. This wasn’t good.

Yikes, she didn’t roll very well at all. sad

If they were given even just a small break, that would be great. He was worried about Allison and how she was holding up. She was probably terrified and worried about getting home, and he knew that Paris was probably worried as well. Not only did they have to deal with the wind, but there were also the wraiths to deal with.

And his energy was already low.

Chris cursed under his breath as he held tight to Allison's hand, trying to keep her away from too many of the wraiths, but there was only so much he could take. Before long, his legs gave out and he collapsed to his knees, trying to catch his breath.

"S-sorry," he said, shaking his head as he panted, his heart going a mile a minute from the exertion.

He knew that Aurostibite had ties to the Dark Mirror Court, so Bloodstone was trying not to think too negatively about the situation they were in, but after getting sucked into mirrors and blown around and people falling into the dark abyss and now wraiths coming out to harass them, he wasn’t too thrilled to be there.

Reinerite seemed to be okay for the most part. He wished they could just teleport out of there, but that would be too easy. There must be some kind of damper on their abilities.

They just needed to get a little farther and they should be fine after that. Hopefully.

“Are you okay?” Bloodstone asked Reinerite as he tried to knock one of the wraiths out of the way with no luck. Instead it went right through him, his energy dropping quickly.

There was a moment in which Oberon thought everything would be fine, that Vi would grab onto Chara and they would push each other to reach the end of this horrid path and find Skadi and go home. But the effort was met with a glare from Chara, who had already shown his jealousy towards others whom Oberon was close to, but he didn’t expect that from him in a time like this.

Chara,” he frowned right back, his tone halfway between scolding and concern. Chara had always been stubborn and did what he wanted, although for a few months Oberon thought that things were settling down with him, that he was learning to accept help and that he wasn’t weak for it. Chara’s jealousy was clearly an issue; one that was unnecessary because they’d had this discussion before, as much as Oberon knew how Chara hated it.

“Hang on,” he said to Vi and Oort instead when it seemed as though Chara was once again doing his own thing, but he was at least helping out a civilian. His hand let go of Oort’s wrist first, once he was sure that the wind wouldn’t knock him back, and also because he knew the other senshi would be able to fight. But when he pulled his hand away from Vi, he lifted his arm to place partially over Vi’s head and shoulders, as if to tuck the slighter teen down against his side, and to keep him supported.

“Wraiths,” Oberon hissed in explanation. “They aid the Dark Mirror Senshi and are out of my league. I can handle most youma. But these guys are a menace,” he said, his teeth gritted together as he tried to swing an arm out at them and keep them away.

Getting out of this mess would be great right about now, so when Vi mentioned pushing forward still, Oberon nodded and glanced over to make sure Oort heard as well. Skadi and Chara had already taken off ahead of them. It had to be only a little further. If only their energy would keep up, and his felt like it was draining fast each time a wraith went through him to steal more energy.

Nether Wallop-Page of Earth

"Oh Sh--" He braced himself as wraiths, smokey, ghostly things -washed- over them like an draining tide, whipping through people, stealing energy left and right. For once... for once though, he managed to hold his own, the training he'd been doing with Phrygia had, to his surprise, given him something that passed for competency. He punched and swung with his staff, trying to keep to limited arcs to avoid knocking anyone off the narrow, treacherous path, though he was still behind much of the pack. Most of them fell, enough that he wasn't staggering from exhaustion, and was able to continue forward, clutching his staff desperately.

Quote:
Mirror wraiths are surrounding you, slowing progress and draining as much as they can! You need to keep moving forward, but you need to get them out of your way! Roll one ten-sided dice to determine how your character progresses!

1-3: The wraiths overwhelm you and drain you significantly; you are feeling lightheaded and stumble a few times. You manage to break a few wraiths, which returns some energy to you; while you are able to keep moving forward, a nap sounds really good right now.
4-7: Swarmed by wraiths, your energy depletes rapidly. You are able to take out a decent number of the wraiths, restoring a decent amount of your energy to you. You manage to keep moving at a moderate pace.
8 or higher: The wraiths attack but you have the advantage; you manage to hit enough wraiths that the majority of your lost energy is restored. Despite them charging through you, you still progress at a fast pace!

Sailor Lacerta

She didn't want to stay behind but these things were stealing her energy with each pass and she couldn't fight them. It seemed like Mel was alright and she was glad for that. It would have really stunk if she had ended up causing him to fall behind. But even as she watched she noticed that Mel had come back to her side. He was yelling at her to get up and although she wasn't sure she could stand the threat of having a cat bite her wasn't appealing at all, although she would probably be able to help it heal with her magic.

Struggling to her feet took a lot of effort and Sailor Lacerta placed a lot of hope in the fact that since she had gotten up that maybe she could manage not to fall behind.

Placing a foot on the next rise in the staircase the senshi knew that she had a potential saviour in her rather large feline companion. The path was still crumbling behind them but at Mel's constant urging she refused to sit back down again. She needed to believe that she could overcome this adversity.

Her voice was ragged as she struggled but she got a quiet, "Thank you" out to Mel, hoping he would hear it.

--

8 - You were fortunate enough to land near the pathway and manage to get a good head start.
7 - You choose the stairs leading upwards. Maybe higher ground will grant you a better vantage? You are met with only darkness, but it is easy to skip two steps at a time and hasten your trip.
10 - Though a breeze pushes at you, you find that you have reached a weak patch of it; it pushes you back just slightly but barely slows you down at all.
2 - The wraiths overwhelm you and drain you significantly; you are feeling lightheaded and stumble a few times. You manage to break a few wraiths, which returns some energy to you; while you are able to keep moving forward, a nap sounds really good right now.

Delilah (6)

First wind...then..."Wraiths?" Delilah felt her voice crack as she looked down at her chest as a creature passed through her. That answered nearly all her questions. Only one group had access to these...

"The Dark Mirror." She whispered, shaking her head as she moved to dodge the next one that came at her. So this was their doing. And all this time she had let them get away with everything....

"Someone has some explaining to do"

Zeta Corvi (Falling!)

A scream came from Zeta as she watched the first thing past by her. She had never seen anything like....the idea of something flying through her...

Dozens swarmed her. So many that she couldn't stop it. Zeta stopped moving forward and tried to back away from the things coming after her...

Down she fell. Into the darkness as if moving through water. Eyes opening as she watched the other above her. Suddenly smoke blocked her view...she could no longer see what was above her....

Zeta disappeared in the darkness.

Anne Marie [(1)

"Don't slow down...."

The suggestion was hard to follow as Anne-Marie felt exhausted. Whatever those things were, their appearance was almost like the calling of the sand man. She was stumbling after him, trying her best to keep up with his pace.

"Please....a little slower." She called out, eyes almost glazed over as she followed.

"You better believe you will!" Rae snapped out, swatting these things like the flies they were. For every two that seemed to buzz by her, she at least smacked one. It helped a little but it didn't stop the fact she wanted her shoes. Oh he would replace them alright....10 times over.

With a swing of one of her arms, Rae smack the back of Quinn's head. Then hit him in the side. "Oh. Sorry. One was on you." She mocked. Of course there had not been one....

Rae was only frustrated...annoyed....down right mad. "If this is your idea of a game Arthur"

Sailor Cassiopeia

The group thinning helped her nerves slightly, but Cassiopeia still clung tight to Valjean. "I have no idea," she huffed towards his question of what this place was. "But not sure I'll be looking at a mirror the same way for a while after this." She tossed a smile over her shoulder at him, or well, an attempt at one. With a lame attempt at humour, to boot.

But it wasn't just the wind that hit them. Cassiopeia shivered, her eyes playing tricks on her, surely, as she thought she saw dark figures zipping around them. Passing through them. Ghosts. Wraiths. She screamed as one, much more corporeal, grabbed her arm and she swayed as her energy was drained. Though she broke away from the creature, she was breathing heavily, tugging on Valjean's hand. "C-c'mon, we have to move faster."

She could hear the pathway still shattering behind them.

But more wraiths continued to attack them, and though she shoved them back, kicked and punched, they still drained her and she felt herself slow down further and further, panting for breath as her body screamed for a rest. But at least when she managed to dust a wraith, some of her energy came back. "Are you ok?" She shot a nervous look at her partner, but couldn't afford to look away from the path--and oncoming enemies--for long.

Sailor Morgan

Guinevere's confirmation that she hadn't seen Alex or Hania sent cold tendrils down her spine, but Morgan gave a firm nod of confirmation. "Just have to keep looking," she grunted, moving on with the pink and white senshi down the path.

Though unable to answer Guinevere once the winds picked up, she did manage to catch up to her teammate after a while of fighting the winds, grabbing hold of one of her ribbons and giving a slight tug to tell the other she was there. At least, until her hands were needed elsewhere.

The dark shapes of the wraiths caught her eye soon enough when she focused, and she shoved at her teammate to keep moving, faster as she registered what was going on. "The hell are these things?" She wasn't incapable of fighting back against the more physical ones, though the ones that passed through them without issue had her at a disadvantage. Draining energy as they went, no less.

But the moment she felt a bit better after dusting one, she realized it was at least possible to get some of that energy back. "Gotta pick up the pace here, these things are worse than cockroaches."

Midgard, Knight of Chronos (+2)

He couldn't summon his shields fast enough to stop the rapid assault that came with the wraiths appeared by the dozens. His heart seemed to stop at the sight, clearly aware that this spelled trouble for them and he knew, deep down, that he was not strong enough to fight against them properly.

But oh did he try.

Midgard did his best despite the weariness of his body and the energy that drained from him. At one point he ended up on his knees, no longer holding Bifrost's hand as he weakly attempted to keep the wraiths at bay.

Still, he tried to continue on, crawling on his hands and knees.

When Malus turned on him, Airi froze, surprised by the outburst. "Okay." He said suddenly, blinking away his surprise. "I won't say something like that again." The youma nudged him gently with his head, urging him to move. "Come on, we better catch up."

That plan was put on hold though as they were swarmed by wraiths. His ears went back as he began to growl and snarl at the creatures taking a swipe or a bite at anything that came to close. "Move." He hissed at Malus through bared fangs. "I've got your back covered."

His jaws closed around one and he jerked his head to the side as if to tear it apart. "You have already asked that of me once Lysithea and I told you I would the first time. Do you really think so little of me that I would go back on my word?" He hissed as he watched the creature disappear into smoke before going after the one skulking at the paths edge by Malus' feet. "Maybe it's both of us she doesn't know Malus..." A snarl errupted from his throat as he glowered at the creature. "I do not go back on my word. I will keep him safe."

"You're okay. It's alright. I've got you. I won't let go." He promised, holding tightly. Alex sat there, gently whispering sweet nothings and whatever promise he could think of in order to help calm her down. The Squire rubbed lightly at her shoulders in an attempt to help ease her. "I believe, this is the part where you joke and say something to the effect of 'You're going to be the death of me Alexandria.' and I say something like "I would never dream of it.'." He joked playfully.

Suddenly they were swarmed however, and Alexandria's hold on Andro tightened. He reached over his shoulder and threw his hood over his head before trying to cover what he could of Andro herself. "Don't let go of me." He urged, squeezing her hand. "I won't let go either." Though that was easier said then done. Alexandria found himself rapidly getting exhausted as he tried to fend the creatures off. "We need to move." He said giving her a weak prod. "Come on. Stay with me."

Valjean had been distracted by struggling against the wind, but it hit him, slightly belatedly, that the harsh breeze that knocked Cassiopeia had given him a very good view of the one piece under her uniform.

He flushed, and forced himself to not stare at her a**, because they were, unfortunately, still in rather a lot of danger. He had to focus on keeping her safe, not on how much he wanted to put his hands all over her.

"Of all the things to have to be careful around," Valjean said. "Mirrors." How many other innocuous things were secretly weapons of this bizarre war?

He swung a hand at the wraith, but he could feel himself getting tired; he was doing a terrible job, he knew, of fighting back, and it was exhausting him to try.

"I'm...coming," he kept pushing forward, even though he was terribly, terribly tired. "Sorry," he said, feeling guilty for holding her back.

Sailor Guinevere

Guinevere nodded shortly in agreement, jogging with Morgan to keep pace. "We'll find them," she said, because she had to be sure, there couldn't be a chance they weren't okay. Alex was a child, Hania just a cat. They deserved to be safe, not lost in...wherever this place was.

She was glad to feel the tug on her ribbon to let her know Morgan was still with her, and she reached to grab onto the other girl's uniform, but she didn't quite manage before she had to start batting away monsters and she let out a tiny yelp.

"I don't know what they are!" She said, more than a little panicked. She could feel herself flagging, but each one she smashed she felt a little better, and while she didn't get all of them, it was better than it could have been.

"Just...gotta push through, right?" She said, giving a slightly wobbly smile as she picked up speed. At least she was prepared for this sort of thing.

Idrialite had pushed, and pushed, as far as he could. He was willing to fight against the wind and the path and everything this strange place put i front of him, because he wasn't the type to just lay down and give up.

The problem was, he wasn't going to have a lot of options.

The wraiths swarmed, and he called up his weapon and swing, batting them away, but there were so many, and they were so utterly overwhelming, and he was already drained and he had been pushing forward for so long --

Exhaustion began to creep up on him, the kind of exhaustion he expected after three days straight of trial prep with as little sleep as he could exist on, and it was too much. The wraiths kept coming, and he tried to get out of the way, but that was his downfall. He stumbled towards the edge of the path, and went over, tumbling into the smoky abyss below.
