How dumb, a woman recently got kicked out of a Burger King resteraunt for breastfeeding her baby! seriously this did happen. But, Burger King has issued a public apology so that's good.

But seriously, kicking someone out for feeding their baby??

Did she use a blanket?

I don't know, but if she didn't she probably should've.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 04, 2004 7:53 pm

Yeah she should have used one, if she didn't. I never BFed, never will but I always took Logan to the side to feed him a bottle here and there. I don't think women should have to feed their babies in the bathroom, but I think sometimes it gets a bit ridiculous and unfair the treatment they get.

I'm glad the dispute got worked out. We all have our opinions. I don't care what people do with drugs as long as it doesn't run over to me! 3nodding

*sigh* I wish I had anything but dialup, it's all we can afford.

Logan's had such an awesome time since my ILs have been here. They leave tomorrow. *sigh* I wish they could stay longer. We went to Seaworld, Canyon Lake, and he had an awesome birthday! I can't wait to catch up more on here though!

I tried... crying

whee It wasn't you and you know it! *huggles Glitter*

I just don't understand what people have against BFing mothers. Kicking her out for feeding her baby and not wanting to go into a dirty bathroom, that's insane. Most women I've seen BF in public have tried to be as discreet as possible: they aren't hurting anyone.

I have breast fed all my babies in public at one time or another. I think you become a little braver with each one. But, I do use a blanket to cover up.

I used to be a manager at the disney store and we had a customer that would come in all the time. She would breast feed the baby while she shopped in the store. While walking around. I usually was the one to help her cause some of the other employees were uncomfortable with it.

I never was that bold in public. But, it didn't bother me that she felt comforable enough to feed her baby while shopping in the store.

I just finished a year of bfeeding my baby *pats herself on back yay!*

It is illegal for a woman to be discriminated against or kicked out because of breastfeeding. Burger King had better be careful she doesn't sue. I don't understand what people have against it either. I mean, what? Becuase you are uncomfortable with the idea of a breast doesn't mean that an innocent baby should go hungry. If someone is uncomfortable they just shouldn't look.

I bfeed my baby in public and no not always in a bathroom. Where exactly are you supposed to do it in most public restrooms? They don't have chairs! Women shouldn't be banished to the bathroom to sit on a dirty toilet to feed their baby. I don't want to eat admist the smells of a bathroom, why would my baby have to?

I didn't always use a blanket but you could not see anything. If you just lift your shirt up high enough for the baby to latch on their head and body covers any skin of yours that may be showing. Sure if you are staring intensely you may and I mean may get a glimpse of something when they unlatch in the milisecond before a mom can put her shirt back down but seriously, if you are staring that hard, who's fault is it that you saw something?

I'm all for women bfeeding in public. However, I think it's ridiculous that it is even a "thing" for people to be for or against. This a baby eating, babies need to eat, duh. Honestly, what would people rather have to deal with? A screaming hysterical hungry baby or a woman bfeeding?

There is the whole faction of people that say bfeed in the privacy of your own home but when in public give a bottle. Milk supply is a delicate balance. It is directly related to how often the baby nurses. So if today I give her a bottle at 2 pm tommorow at 2 pm my body doesn't have the milk for her that it should. Bfeeding is the most natural thing in the world and mothers that do it should be accomadated not harrased!

Last night was wonderful! My friend had a party (it was Justine, actually... sweatdrop ) and we ate dessert before dinner, played DDR for hours and then we dressed up like morons and went to Wal Mart at 11 at night. xd SO many people gave us odd looks, but it was so much fun!

And out in the parking lot, I invented a new game: bumper carts.

Yep, I like Wal Mart though I don't like buying electronics there, maybe video games. Me and my cousins once played hide and seek at Wal Mart, but then they asked us to leave because we were disturbing the other customers.

Oh, it wasn't in Wal Mart. My other friend brought it over to the house. It was wonderful! ^-^ I may not be GOOD at DDR, but I enjoyed trying! I even did a four footer! : P Failed though. And I barely cleared the three footers. redface

I like all of the assumptions about breast feeding (I personally had the most terrible time with it and sadly and rather guiltily at the time gave up) are assinine.

my favorites are...

1. you can just pump some and put it in a bottle
A. Well, I was one of those like 10 percent of women who doesn't AT ALL respond to a breast pump, I bought the best electric and manual I could find, I tried showers, pictures of my baby, music, hot cloths, eventually the only way I could let down was nursing and pumping at the same time. How awkward, and defeats the point entirely.

2. That it's so easy to sit anywhere and just do it.
A. Some women have C sections where they have to hold the baby in the football hold and NEED an arm chair to do it. It's hard at first to get a good latch and be sure about it that making a woman sit in a certain place to make sure someone with some seriously delicate sensibilities isn't offended.

And finally, unrelated to Burger King, I think all moms need to give all other moms a freaking break when it comes to feeding and other things because it's not like we don't have everyone else, who don't even HAVE children, all on our backs about how to raise children properly all the time.

Oh I know it's not at walmart. I was wondering where DDR comes from. Do they have stores where you can buy it? (is totally clueless on this)

@Nopename. Bfeeding is really hard. I almost gave up myself. sweatdrop I had to get a pump just to get my milk production going. I think bottle or breast is just fine. I don' t even think that's what we were ranting about. No matter what you do it seems like you're going to get talked to about it by someone! Take my mom for example, according to her nursing my daughter was making her too attached to me and noone else could watch her or put her to sleep. I was doing her a disservice. That was my mom. sweatdrop My boss kept going on and on about how it was fine if other people did it but boy oh boy she thought it was just GROSS! Then there was the nurse hotline who when I called crying because I didn't feel like my daughter was getting enough to eat...told me that if I wanted to do what was best for the baby I better just keep nursing her. Never mind the fact that I had just nursed her for 6hrs straight and she was screaming still and I obviously didn't have enough milk. (It was after this that I rented the pump) Thank God for La Leche League is all I can say. Anywhoo, everyone has their vehement opinion on pretty much everything you do for your baby. My pediatirician put it best..."You're her mom, whatever YOU decide is best!"

I think there is nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public. I don't think people should be ashamed to breastfeed their baby or to see someone breastfeed their baby.
