Umbra’s eyebrows raised when she was show the miniature abomination that was Spiritomb, it was amazing what people would throw away now a days, really it was. So, the item was a keystone after all was it? Umbra supposed that a hunch based off nothing more than speculation could be right every now and then. When the odd greeting from the ghostly pokemon finished Umbra raised a hand in greeting. ”Hey, what’s up?” It looked like they were going to have another odd traveling companion after this. Oh well, it could always be worse she supposed and the spirit seemed… pleasant enough? Was that the right term for this? She wasn’t sure at this point, but really who was going to argue with someone’s pokemon on the matter anyway? ”That’s two ghost types for you, Sylvia. Are you theming your team or something?” That wasn’t a bad idea, really. A themed team sounded like it could be a fun challenge and Umbra filed that little idea away for later. She would love to try and start a Dark team of her own, something that would give her something to work with when her other pokemon got too strong or she just needed a break from raising the same pokemon all the time.
Things seemed to settle back down to normal a bit after the rush of wonder and awe from getting a rare pokemon like Spiritomb in their group. It was certainly an interesting creature and that was for sure. Umbra continued to stare with some degree of curiosity at it until she was pulled back into the conversation with regards to her previous request for something to eat. Umbra’s stomach rumbled a little bit and she brought her hand up and scratched her cheek with her index finger. ”Well, I think my stomach is speaking for me. I guess if you guys wanted you could go ahead of me and I can catch up later if you weren’t too terribly interested in breakfast. I want to explore the area and find whatever pokemon that I can around here and hopefully strengthen my team up a bit more before head off into the forest.” Umbra laid out her plan to the rest of the girls, not sure if they were going to be interested in following her or not. Luca did say that they wanted to travel together but Umbra was worried that her want to get stronger would hold them up from there adventure. The may be staying around Viridian city for a while if that was the case. Now that she had three pokemon to rase instead of two, there was going to be a little more fighting on her end to make sure he team was pretty well on the same level. She didn’t want to have any of her team weaker than the others if possible.

Sylva let out a slight chuckle when Umbra asked if she was going for a themed team. "Well, I do kind of like ghost-types, but this really wasn't intentional." She chuckled. "Though, I kind of do like the idea of being a ghost-type trainer, I also want to train Fire and Dark-types as well." The redhead replied. The conversation leading back to breakfast, Sylva held up a hand, balancing Pandora's Keystone in her other hand. "I'm all for breakfast actually. I'm starving." If only they knew how literal that was. She'd eaten a good chunk of food last night, but one meal doesn't cure one of being starved. She needed to start packing on some pounds, and free food was just they way to accomplish that. With that notion, Sylva returned Pandora to their ball with little fuss, having said their greetings they weren't at all bothered with being sent back into the sphere, it was daytime after all, and it was time for most ghosts and ghouls to slumber. Later when the sun set wherever they decided to spend the night, Sylva would let them out once more. Her hands free entirely, she filled them back up by scooping Lerisa back into a tight hug.

Lucatiel watched as Sylva showed off her newest addition, elaborating on the strange stone and the Spiritomb within it. "Heh, to be honest I don't think I could ever do a type-themed team. Too many great pokemon for me to be able to keep myself from branching out." She chuckled lightly, before rolling her shoulders as the subject came back to breakfast. "Then I'd say it's decided. Let's all eat a nice, big meal before we head out for the day. I'm not sure how long it'll take us to get through the forest to Pewter City, especially if we stop to train along the way." With that, the three girls started on their way to the cafeteria again. It was a bit more crowded this time, but the tables were still vastly empty thanks to the early hours. Luca more or less got the same food as she'd gotten the night before, with some slight variation to include some foods that were specifically morning goods. She set her sword against the table again and unwrapped her jacket from her waist, throwing it over the back of the chair she chose to sat in as they all had a chance to sit down.

Ray smirked, picking up the pokeball with his new pokemon in it. It was too easy. He preferred going after stronger and rarer wild pokemon or stealing them from others. There was something almost quaint about catching the tiny Nidoran. He heard the loud sounds of someone clumsily making their way through the grass and turned to look at an approaching kid. "Hey! You're a trainer too, right? You got that Charmander from Professor Oak? I got a pokemon from him too! Let's do a battle! My name's Miles!" With amusement, Ray realized the kid must think he was talking to someone his own age. "Sure. Don't expect me to go easy on you," he grinned. He was a little disappointed when the kid grinned goofily and replied, "Me neither!" He had been expecting the kid to be intimidated, forgetting that the lines had a very different effect when delivered by a thirteen year-old.
"Okay, here goes! Squirtle, let's do it!" Ray was very aware that the boy had purposely not told him that his starter was the direct counter to Charmander. Ray released Tyrogue. "What? You aren't gonna use your Charmander?" Wow, the kid sounded genuinely confused. Maybe he's an idiot. Ray shrugged and spoke like a boy would, "Water's good against fire. I'm not gonna go out with a disadvantage." Miles, surprised, hadn't thought about that at all. This Ray kid really knew his stuff!

"Squirtle, use water gun! C'mon, Squirtle!" Miles pumped his fists as if that could psych the Squirtle into attacking, but Tyrogue dealt with it handily, not giving it a chance to fight back. "Wow, that was crazy. You're really good." Miles returned his Squirtle, but he wasn't about to give up. "How do you like this then?!" he said, releasing his special Elgym. It had a type advantage over a fighting type, so it would- Ray switched out Tyrogue for Charmander. "H-hey! Wait, you can't switch out?" Ray set a heavy stare on Miles. "Why not? Because you want your type advantage? We're allowed to switch out between pokemon. It's in the rules." Hah. Someone like him using the rules to lecture a kid. Priceless.

Ray was actually lucky that he was able to dispatch Miles' pokemon without taking too much damage himself. As Miles was proving by sending out yet another pokemon, this time a Shuppet, he had a lot more pokemon that Ray. And their types were a lot more effective than Ray's for most of it. "You have some pretty interesting pokemon," Ray said, wishing he could knock the kid out and take all of his pokemon. He had a feeling Alessandro would frown on such conspicuous thievery for his current cover. "Thanks! I've traveled a lot with my dad and got a bunch of cool pokemon. It's awesome to finally be able to battle with them." It was strange how the kid didn't seem too put off by the one-sided battle. It made it more fun than Ray would have expected.

Miles' last pokemon was an Amaura, so of course it wasn't able to do anything against Tyrogue. He sighed. "I guess I still got to learn a lot. Hey, thanks for the battle." He stuck out his hand for a shake. Bemused, Ray returned the shake. "Hey, what's your name? You wanna exchange phone numbers? It'd be cool to have a friend my age." Ha. Haha. "I go by Ray," he said. He didn't really care about hiding his name. "And sure. Here." Bemused, he used his new registered only to the small child Ray phone to exchange numbers because why the heck not? He could always block Miles if the kid was annoying, and this way he could find the boy again if the mood to steal any of those pokemon struck him. "Awesome! See ya later, Ray!" Miles grinned and ran off. Kids were so strange. Had Ray been like that when he was actually thirteen?

Amusement entered Umbra’s being as she heard her comrades say their two cents about themed pokemon parties. ”Honestly, I’ve been playing with the idea of a secondary Dark-themed team myself. There may be times when we are out in the wild and not able to get to the pokemon gyms in time, so getting a secondary team might be advantageous… that and switching it up every now and then is refreshing.” Having a team for both a balanced battle, and one just for fun would be entertaining to say the least. It would be a challenge for sure but Umbra was always up for one of those! Umbra found her way to the line-up for breakfast still continuing the conversation. ”If you went for a back-up team with Themed pokemon, you might just gain some advantages in battle, Sylvia. I say you should at least experiment with the idea of a secondary team.” Umbra stretched out as she addressed Luca and her point about having so many cool pokemon out there to gather a team around. ”I have to agree with that one, Luca. I had such a hard time choosing my teams in my head that I had to limit myself to region only pokemon. That way I can start over again when all the badges here are collected and experience a new region in a different light. Though a secondary team would shake that up a bit, then again, there is nothing wrong with collecting a team of your favourite pokemon either.” Umbra helped herself to the buffet, scrambled eyes, bacon, pancakes and some French toast graced her plate along with a heathy dose of maple syrup and ketchup to add more calaries and flavour to her delicious meal. It was incredible sometimes how someone so tiny could pack in so much food in her. Her step-sisters would often tease her that all the fat was going to her boobs. They were just jealous was all but Umbra wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not. Umbra lead the way to an empty table and took the window seat while the others were gathering their food or coming over.

As Umbra replied to both her and Luca's responses, the smaller female noted that having a secondary team could be a good idea. Well, Sylva was just simply drawn to Ghost, dark and fire-types, but it wasn't necessarily the only type she'd settle on. After all, some of those types came with duel typing's. Most of the Pokemon she imagined however were all part fire, like Houndoom and Litwick. In the end she was left wandering her mind while she gathered some food from the spread, grabbing some eggs, a few muffins, and a bit of bacon and sausage.. .she wanted to fatten up, and this was the best way to do it. However, she also didn't want to die of a heart attack, so she happily grabbed some 1% milk and a bowl of mixed fruit.
When she joined the group, the fem dumped her fruit over her pancakes, eating them without syrup, the milk was there to wash down the bits that didn't want to go down her throat. She took a seat beside Umbra, resting her bag on the ground, while she sat Liersa in her lap. The small lizard happily munched on a Sausage as well as her own Pokefood. When she finally decided to take a breather, and let what she'd eaten settle some, the red-head turned her gaze over to Umbra. "I've been thinking about what you said, and yea.. A secondary team wouldn't hurt, but I don't really want to settle on only two sets of six Pokemon. There are so many Pokemon out there how could you settle on only 12?"

The conversation seemed to pause for a moment as everyone got their food and headed to the table, Umbra leading the way. Once there and everyone was well on their way through eating though, Sylva spoke up in between chowing down. She her own outlook on a secondary team, noting how she'd rather not keep to just a set of twelve pokemon. Luca nodded her head in response, before swallowing her own food to chime in. "Exactly! Honestly, it's probably better to train a large pool to be able to pull from, rather than limiting yourself to just a handful. Interchangeable parts give you more options and variety, even if you're looking to put together a challenge team." She took another bite of her food, and went back to eating for a moment before continuing. "Sure it's hard to keep track of everyone and properly take care of a large number of pokemon, but that's why you'd usually keep a small number of them actually on hand."

Umbra chuckled in between bites as her traveling companions stated that there was just no way that raising only 12 pokemon was going to ever be enough to satisfy their love for them. Umbra took a minute to swallow what she had in her mouth and washed it down. ”Just how many pokemon do you plan on raising all at once?” She mused to them with a grin. ”As much as I love the idea of raising a whole bunch of pokemon at once, I think I’ll have to stick with my two teams: my regional team that I plan to battle and win badges with, and the Dark themed team just because I like ‘em. I guess I’d just get a little overwhelmed if I had more pokemon than that to train, raise and battle with.” Hmm, Umbra wondered if she was becoming a bit of a Pokemon snob, after all, she did have her particular favourites and would love to just use them. Admittedly when it came to the starts she was more open to randomly picking one or choosing one that would complement the pokemon that she already had. In this case it was her Jolteon that she was going to partner her pokemon with. As much as she liked the charmander breed, she had to admit that having two types that were going to have a bad time with the rock/ground combo that Brock was not something that she would have liked. If it had been another eeveelution like Vaporeon or Leafeon then she would have happily picked the fire reptile to come with her. It was amazing how one pokemon could change the outlook and strategy of your team. ”While we’re on the topic of pokemon teams and what not… tell me, are there any types of pokemon that you girls are looking for? Like, something special or specific that you would consider a goal to capture?” Umbra let the girls answer while she dug into her food once more, gosh she was hungry, one would have thought that she hadn’t eaten for a week. Then again, it looked like Sylvia really hadn’t eaten for a week.

It seemed Luca agreed with her for the most part, but Umbra did make a point. It would be hard to train more than 12 at a time, though perhaps it was more or less a misunderstanding, because Sylva had thought Umbra meant only 12 Pokemon total... not 'at a time' "Right, well, more that twelve at a time would be hard to keep track of." She chuckled. "I thought you meant you were only going to ever have twelve Pokemon." Given how often more and more Pokemon were being discovered and added to the dex, it would hard to ever settle on just 12.
Clearing her plate of any remaining morsels, the red-head returned her gaze to Umbra, though she didn't respond right away. "That's a good question." She muttered eventually. "I mean, you already know I want to train mostly fire and ghost-types, but... A specific Pokemon? I hadn't really thought of it." The red-head's eyes lit up some as she let her smile widen. "Well, of course I'd love to maybe get a legendary to join my team, but.... well, just meeting one would be amazing." As for what legendary, she only really recalled the ones that had movies about them. Like, Reshiram from Unova, or Arceus the "God" of Pokemon. She really wasn't into getting something all powerful. Though it would be nice to have something that others would struggle to defeat.

After his Gardevoir departed shortly to look into what was available at the local pokemart, Zero quietly observed his friend’s lesson as it went on, ready in case she needed him for any reason other than to show off more mega evolutions. It went on for a relatively short time, before eventually Andreas wrapped it up just in time for the kids to be let out for recess. Now free to run around and do as they pleased, they crowded around and started to climb onto all the different pokemon–-after getting their trainers’ permission of course–-and marveled at all the different colors and shapes they all took on. The two friends, meanwhile, moved away to let the kids run around freely, though staying closeby to watch incase they needed to pull back their team at all. A small, wooden park bench was the seat they took, as small as it was, being shoulder-to-shoulder as they watched on.
”Is this the sort of thing you became a teacher for?” Zero asked jokingly, leaning back in his seat. ”Impressing kids and watching them fawn over interesting pokemon?”
”No, obviously,” she replied, lightly tapping his shoulder with the back of her hand. ”But it’s nice from time to time. I’d never want any of my own but I can’t help but like it when I watch kids like this just having fun. Makes it seem like I actually know what I’m doing.” She chuckled lightly, leaning back into the seat as she watched the Mega Aggron lift a number of kids hanging onto his arms effortlessly.
”Really? Well, I guess you’ve had me fooled at least.” He shrugged, quieting as they watched the kids entertain themselves in some form or another with the Mega Evolved pokemon. ”Oh, that reminds me, did Isis ever send you a text? I gave her your and Machina’s number if she ever needed to get in touch with you two, but I don’t know if she ever messaged you to get her number as well.”
”Really? Well, no I haven’t gotten anything from her. You mind just sharing her number with me while we’re here then? I’ll make sure Machina gets it too so he can have her number as well.”
”Sure, one second.” He raised his wrist to bring up his contact list, before going through the motions to share Isis’ information with his older friend. After the brief silence that accompanied her getting things all set up properly, Zero glanced over at his friend again to speak. ”Hey, Andreas… If you don’t mind me asking, did you ever travel with anyone back when you started your own journey? I know you didn’t really write about anyone back then and in those days you were kind of…abrasive, but…”
The older brunette hummed lightly, holding a hand to her chin. ”Weeell, you could say I had something of a travel party early on. A small group of five, counting myself, but we weren’t an entirely compatible group. One of us split early on, saying we moved too slow as a group so he ran off after getting his next badge. Another girl just up and disappeared during the night, something about something being “too big”, and then the other one turned out to be a wanted serial killer…”
”Wait what–”
”Long story. Anyway, I stuck around with the last two guys for a little while after that, but eventually… Well, we just had to go our separate ways. Something happened to the guy who was essentially the group’s adhesive, and well, without glue nothing stuck. But that’s all in the past now, so why do you ask?”
”I feel like you’re glossing over a lot of very alarming details.”
”Just answer the question Z. Like I said, that stuff’s in the past, it’s behind me.”
Zero looked at her with a sceptical gaze, but sighed as he relented. ”I just wanted to know, really… I got my eighth badge today, but I don’t know what to do now.” He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the small, blue case of badges, flipping it open to reveal a full set of the Hoenn League badges. A moment later, he pulled them back, putting the case into his jacket again.
”Well, congrats then buddy!” She cheered, giving him a hard pat on the back. ”I’m guessing you’re not interested in fighting the Hoenn Elite Four though? No offense but it just doesn’t seem like something you’d be all that interested in.”
”Yeah, unfortunately I just… don’t know what to do from here. I could go over to the other regions, but I don’t feel any desire to do that. I need to start looking for Alex again, but by now the trail’s gone more or less cold… And honestly, I’m sure with how strong she is she’s doing fine wherever she ended up, but that doesn’t make me less worried. I don’t particularly have any other friends that’ve needed my help, and up until now I’ve almost just been… Following along whenever Isis went off to do anything. But now, now I don’t know how long that’ll be an option. I just… Don’t know where to go from here. I was kind of hoping I could possibly get an idea from someone like you, who’s long since done with their journey.”
Andreas sat quietly beside her friend, listening with the kind of patience and silent understanding that she needed as a teacher. She crossed one leg over the other, and held her hands together in her lap, her gaze and undivided attention on her friend’s plight. When he wrapped up, she nodded her head, humming thoughtfully as she looked for the best answer she could give. ”...Well, while I can’t tell you what to do, I can point you in a direction.” She threw her arm over Zero’s shoulder and pulled him close, as if they were suddenly having an impromptu team meeting before a match. ”As it stands, I don’t think you can think clearly or walk on any one path the way you are now. You’ve got a chip on your shoulder, something weighing on your heart that you’re clutching too tightly to let go. That weight is holding you back, keeping your growth at bay… Making you the confused and depressed mess that you are right now. No one is gonna be able to properly help you until you deal with that, and you resolve this issue.
“So I propose this to you; In one year’s time, by the end of next October, resolve this. Find a way to discard, or bear the weight of your burdens. Get back to the way you were; a young man with a growing heart, and the potential to do whatever he god damned pleased. When you started this journey, you set out to grow stronger and better yourself, so get out there and be strong!” She suddenly released him from her grip, before slamming her open palm onto his back encouragingly.
Zero let out a shout that briefly caught the attention of all the children and pokemon at the schoolyard, but they were quick to go back to what they were doing, as Zero rubbed his stinging back. ”R-Really? Well, I guess… that couldn’t hurt…” The young man leaned forward so the place Andreas struck wasn’t pressing into the wooden bench, a very defined handmark reddened on his back beneath his clothes. ”But what if I don’t get that taken care of by then? What’s the penalty?”
Andreas’ expression darkened, stiffening into a serious, unjoking face. ”Then you’ll no longer be allowed to travel with Isis until you do take care of it.” There was a pause to let it sink in, the woman’s eyes narrowing as Zero seemed stunned by the statement. ”You’ll do more harm than good if you’re still like this by a year’s time, both to yourself and to her. I can’t believe she’s not hurting when she sees you like this, when you’re all gloomy and self-destructive. It’ll be better for the both of you if you end up having to put distance between each other so you can get things fixed up.”
Zero paused at this, still taking it in. He seemed dumbfounded, somewhat angry at the thought, but… Knowing full well that it had to happen eventually. And Andreas just happened to pull up the nail on his motivation. He composed himself and nodded agreeingly with the older brunette. ”I’ll do it.” He stated plainly, rising from the seat. ”Thanks for the time, Andreas. You fine if I start heading out now?”
Andreas’ expression finally softened back to normal, pleased to see her friend taking her threat seriously. ”Not at all, I can handle things from here. But Zero, before you head out, you should know something.” He glanced back at her, curiously. ”No matter what happens, or where you are, remember that stinging on your back. It should remind you who all’s behind you. You’re far from alone in all this, no matter where you might be.”
After a brief pause, Zero smiled for the briefest of moments, a flash of a distant memory on a summer night flashing in his mind. ”Got it… Thanks again, Andreas.”
”Anytime, Z.” She waved off her friend, as he went to collect his pokemon and decide where to go next… Not noticing the wicked grin spreading across Andreas’ lips, as she brought up her X-Transceiver in order to send a certain someone a text.

With early-morning hunger at the helm, everyone dug into their breakfast while Sylva practically doubled her companions’ ferocity. However, it didn’t take long for them to continue their talk about extra teams and pokemon, Umbra noting how unmanageable it’d have to be to raise anymore than twelve pokemon at a time, though the redhead was quick to point out a possible misunderstanding between the group. Lucatiel nodded with her friend, having also assumed that the two teams meant only raising the two period, rather than raising different pokemon at different times. ”Mhm, that’s what I thought as well. I mean training more than that all at one time would certainly be hectic, but I meant more like, training different pokemon here and there so they’d also be on par with my main team, so they could come in and out as needed.”
Then, Umbra posed another question, waiting for a response as she continued eating. Luca herself pondered the question for a moment, before Sylva finally answered. She nodded her head understandingly before finally opening her mouth with her own answer, finally. ”Well, to be honest I don’t have any particular goal in mind. Dragons or steel-types would be pretty cool though if I was gonna focus on just a one. But if we’re throwing legendaries into the mix… Well, I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily a goal, but I certainly wouldn’t mind that one fire dog from Johto. What was it’s name again…” She paused for a brief moment, before it hit her. ”Entei! Right, Entei, that’s what it was called. Having one of those would be really cool. I dunno, a part of me just wants to ride one for some reason.”
