"Hide the book?" Samantha blinked, "Why? Who'll never find it? Kayla, you're not making any damn sense..." She approached the girl, letting out a sigh in the process. This really was turning into it's own problem, whatever this girl was troubled with. "Look, before you do anything, why don't you explain to me what's going on?" As she spoke, Sam eyed the book cautiously. Just being this close to it made her feel somehow worse; considering the day she was having, that was saying something. "Just calm down, and explain clearly..."

"I... Know you can feel it- You keep eyeing it. The book is not good. It's bad," Kayla looked intensely at Samantha," Someone wants it, I won't say who, for her own good. She wants it and badly and won't stop at anything to get it- I need to hide it, for her own good." Kayla shook her head, new resolve in her eyes.

"I can't help but be shaken by the book, I have been too close to it..l holding like this is not helping either-!" She walked past Samantha, now walking straighter and with determined footsteps, "This isn't your problem. I will do what I must for my friend. Whatever she has done, it is not her. I will take the book far from her!" She was hurrying down the hall as fast as she could without causing a lot of disturbances and noise.

"Yeah, damn right I can feel it. It gives me the ********' shakes." Samantha said, following Kayla as she turned to bolt silently down the hall. "Something tells me you aren't lying about any of this, so I'll help you, alright? I've been seeing a lot of pretty crazy s**t too... Maybe you're like me then!" Samantha was a little winded as they ran, not being much of one for exercise, but pretty soon they had made their way outside of the school and were nearing the baseball field.

"Why... why here? Why don't we take it to the woods or something? Won't it just cause trouble for everyone once baseball season rolls around..." Samantha was panting by now, a hand pressed firmly to her chest in an attempt to quell her beating heart.

"Like you?" She slowed as they stopped at the baseball field, "What do you mean like you?" Kayla had began to walk to home base, moving the diamond away from the ground and throwing it to the side, before rolling her sleeves up. "?? I guess I had not thought of that... but I cannot leave her alone for too long! I need to hide it here while she gets better, I am sure it won't be long now that the book is away from her.... once I can leave her alone for more than thirty minutes... I can hide it better."

Her hands had some sharp claw like nails, and she began to easily dig a sizeable hole into the home mound. "I need to hurry... I left her alone for far too long already."

"I mean... you've probably had to deal with a lot of stuff lately, right?" Samantha offered a small, weary smile. "We're the ********' protagonists. All because of the cards..." She sighed, then decided to keep an eye out while the other student dug. Kayla seemed to have the task under control, so it'd be best to watch for anyone who might catch them.

"Who... exactly are you trying to protect? The book doesn't belong to you, right?" Sam moved a little closer to Kayla, crouching down beside her. "If there's anything I can do to help you or her... Ah, here," She took out a notepad and pen and scrawled down Seijin's cellphone number, tore it off, and offered it to the student. "One of the teachers here... she knows. And I think we can trust her... more than anyone else. She can help us, and maybe even help your friend..."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 08, 2014 10:48 pm

"The book is not mine- Its a friend's, who I am trying to protect. The cards? You know of them?" she continued to work desperately in making the hole deep. She snarled somewhat," Those ******** cards. They are the source of all this. The source of the magic, of this damn book, of Emmy changing like she has-!" Her digging grew more furious and aggressive, probably never realizing she spoke her dear friend's name.

She stopped long enough to take the number in a hesitant clawed-hand, "There is more of us? That sounds dangerous. How could she help? This is way above us! There is no way-" Kayla fumbled into her jacket pulling out a large ziploc bag and stuffing the infernal book in it," In case taking it from her does more damage.... I couldn't bare to see her hurt more-" Again her features relaxed to exhaustion, she closed the bag and dropped the book into the hole.

"So you have them as well? Cards?"

"Kayla, calm down. Yes, I know of them... and I have some as well." Somewhat hesitantly, Samantha reached into her pocket and withdrew her own deck. She was hesitant in this action because she wasn't quite sure how the slightly-crazed teen would react to their presence. "And... judging by your appearance, I'd say you do as well. Am I right?"

Replacing the deck, Samantha knelt down and began to help the girl pile the dirt back into the hole, neatly covering the strange, evil-looking book. Samantha felt slightly better as it disappeared under the earth, then neatly covered with Home. "Your hands... those claws. I've seen them before... you're some kinda beast, right? My friend is... something like that." Samantha stayed knelt there, eyes focused on the plate. "But the teacher, Seijin Kazuko... I think she's our best bet in helping everyone. Including your 'Emmy'. The others, that... that other teacher, I don't think she really has our best intentions in mind. Karine..." Her mind crossing over the blonde girl, Sam realized that she should probably talk to her again, perhaps outside of that room. But, that should be saved for another day.

"Kayla. We should... probably get back inside... are you alright?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 10, 2014 10:10 pm

She rested a hand on the home plate. Finally, that terrible thing was hidden. Kayla lifted her eyes to look at the cards. "I thought she and I were the only ones," The brazilian stood, standing taller than Samantha," Its somewhat soothing to know we are not, and yet terrifying there is more- some that are worse of than us it seems." The girl looked at her clawed hand and she spoke the last bit.

"I am a coyote, I believe?" Again she turned to Samantha, "Someone else like me? A beast? Does she have these as well?" Hesitantly she moved her hood back, showing some dusty-colored ears, "Am I really not the only one who has had to deal with this bullshit?" At last Kayla laughed a bit.

"I am feeling better, and yes, we should go back inside," The teenage pulled her hood back up, turning to walk to the dorms again,"Crap, I need to get her food- Or else she'll know I was up to something. Mh. I will drop by my room, and slide some packaged things into a plastic bags; pretend I was at the convenience store."

"Slow down, Kayla - you need to relax." Samantha warned, putting her hand on the other girl's shoulder. "Yeah, there's more of us... a lot more. At least ten, and one of them is my best friend... she's become some sort of horrific beast, like something out of a nightmare. But... she's still my friend. We're all still people underneath, don't forget that." Samantha let go of Kayla's shoulder, reaching up to pull back her hood, revealing the mess of snowy hair she'd worked to conceal earlier. "The magic does... different things to different people. One of the others explained it to me; there are these... beings, sorta existing inside these cards. It's because of them that we're given powers, or changed to better represent whoever's deck we hold."

She let out a long sigh, before she began to walk back toward the dorms, hands in her pockets. "But... that's really all anyone knows. Maybe Anei knows more than she lets on... or maybe Seijin does. But everyone else is just as scared and confused as we are... we aren't alone, even if some are divided. And then, there are those who simply work to get rid of the cards... like miss Kazami, and her boyfriend." As they approached the school's doors, she took the handle of one and pulled it, holding the door open for Kayla. "Is there anything else you wanna know? I don't know much else, but I'll help if I can."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 14, 2014 11:50 pm

"I guess so. I honestly don't want to know what either of the teachers think or want to do. I just want Emmy back to herself," Kayla said, effectively blocking out any of Samantha's conversation about the cards and the people affected,"I am sorry about your friend. Being a beast is pretty difficult, almost as much as having all magic.... Can't tell which one is the worst though." The Brazilian girl walked into the dorm building, looking down the hallways to make sure no one was intruding into her talk with Sam.

"I am going to drop by my room, like I said, I need to pick up some food from there and make her believe I was out to the convenience store. Maybe if I bring her favorite drink she'll feel better," Kayla gave an exhausted smile, as if remembering nicer days,"You can.. Leave me to that, Samantha, you look like you need your own hot bath and a warm bed."

"...I think... I agree with Ms. Kazami and her boyfriend... I just want them gone forever."

"A lot of us do, friend. A lot of us do..." Samantha replied grimly. As they re-entered the school proper, Samantha had drawn up her hood once more, shielding herself from any prying eyes that might be lurking this late at night. Kayla's words had reminded her of her original plans before stumbling onto the girl. Yes, a shower and bed sounded like a lovely thing, and she could probably sleep through the next day if she were allowed to. Given the circumstances of the situation, however, Sam highly doubted that.

"Right... take care of 'your Emmy'. If she's as bad as you make her sound, then she'll need all the help she can get. Don't be afraid to call on us to help..." Sam gave Kayla a weary wave goodbye, and walked down the hallway on her own, heading for her own dorm.

---

Meanwhile, a malevolent force was at work, prying a young girl from a wicked slumber, tired and deep-set eyes searching her surroundings with a frantic energy. "No... It's gone." The girl sat up from the couch upon which she was laid to rest, head twisting this way and that in an attempt to find a most precious belonging. "No, no, no... It's gone, it's gone..." She repeated, almost as a mantra, before hopping to her feet and nearly tackling a nearby table in panicked frenzy. She began to throw about pieces of paper, school supplies, and varied bits of junk and scrap metal in search of a book.

"No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!"

Her voice echoed in the room. As if on queue, a cacophony of whirring servos and metallic clanking erupted from the darkened corners of her room as many grotesque and crudely fashioned automatons came to life, glowing eyes dotting the walls and shadows, all peering inwardly and toward their master. The girl panted, then bit her thumb out of anxiety - biting down hard enough to break skin.

"... Where is she?"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 20, 2014 2:15 pm

Kayla would wave as Samantha left. She stood in the hallway for a bit. Blessed silence indeed. She would walk to her room, grab a plastic bag of the local convenience store, and stuff it with prepackaged food and goodies. She wasn't much of a cook, so Esmeralda would not find it odd that she had 'bought' her food. That done, Kayla pulled out some of her money from the wallet dropped it on her table, before going to the fridge and pulling out one of Emmy's favorite beverages. The brazilian then hurried out of her dorm.

Walking to Emmy's room, Kayla was only hoping for the best. The book was gone, there would be nothing yo be pushing for Esmeralda's work. She had left the red head asleep, so now she would be rested. There was also food to be had! Things were going to be O.K.

She opened the girl's door with her own set of keys, and closed the door behind her, taking the time to lock it. "Hey, I'm back Emmy! I brought back some---" Turning around she could see those cursed robot things on and alive, and the mess Esmeralda's rage had caused. She blinked and immediately looked for Emmy among the darkened room without moving from her spot. "E-esmeralda..?" her eyes had not adjusted to the dark, lightness room.

As Kayla entered the room, the automatons were the first to react. What seemed like a thousand glowing eyes all turned their attention on her, and the room quickened with the sound of metallic chittering. Esmeralda was much slower in her response, turning in place, worn eyes glaring.

"K... Kayla...?" Her voice was almost a whisper, nearly drowned out by her steel abominations. "Where have you been...?" Her eyes traveled to the bag of groceries her friend held, and her features relaxed slightly. The noise had quieted as well. "Oh... yes. The food..." Esmeralda took a few shaky steps closer to Kayla, her head tilted at an odd angle. Her gaze seemed to fall somewhere to the floor, almost as if she was too tired to focus on where her body was taking her. "Kayla, have you seen it? The... My book? ... It's gone. Missing. Haha... S-... someone took it... Who?"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 20, 2014 5:50 pm

Kayla bumped back into the door, not moving from that place until Esmeralda move from her spot. She waited until she was addressed. Esmeralda knew her book was missing, and she knew someone had taken it. The teen was more concerned about the look the red head had. So she tried to approach her friend.

"I went to bring the food, esmeralda, I locked the door and I just came back," Kayla set the bag down, not turning her back to Emmy," I brought your favorite drink!" She held up trying to smile," Esmeralda, the book came randomly, it has probably... Gone back wherever it was from."

She set the things out from the bag, and set them onto the table. "I will help you look for it , but... You should eat something before we go searching for it, alright?"

Her eye twitched. "Eat? No, no, no time. The book must be found..." She turned and moved to another table, completely ignoring the offer of canned Hawaiian punch, and began searching through its surface contents as well, likely knocking this and that off of it. "It wouldn't go away. It wouldn't. The lesson wasn't over..."

As Kayla moved away from the door, a series of automatons moved to block it, effectively encasing the entire room in jagged metal. Emmy paused in her search, and turned to look at Kayla once more. "If you are the one who was charged with the security of my room, then it is your fault my belongings have disappeared... It's your fault." The walls became active again, each automaton moving inwardly by a few inches, enclosing the space further. "What do you have to say for yourself...?"
