Sirius: -Spots a kit he thinks he might vaguely recognize from the orphanage, but is still unsure so hangs back.-

Spyridon: *notices his spirit drifting away and mentally calls out to it. It hesitates, but continues moving toward a kit sitting not far away* Hi! *he calls out with a smile to the other kit, hoping the overprotective-invisible-butthead that was following him would realize the other kit was not a threat and leave him alone*

Sirius: -Sees a spirit-thing coming towards him and shrinks away. The mouth of his dragon plushie suddenly opens, and a teeny voice emerges.- /Just tell it to leave you alone. -spots the other kit in the room, a chubby arm comes up- You, recall this thing!/

Spyridon: *blinks in surprise as the kit reacts to his spirit* You can see him? *he jumps in shock as the little stuffed animal spoke to him and quickly scooted back till the spirit hit an invisible wall. It could only move a max of 5ft away from him, so anything farther was safe from his claws* I'm still trying to figure out how to control him...sorry. *he tugged at his rags, embarrassed that he'd never figured out how to even communicate with the thing that had haunted him since he was born*

Sirius: -The plushie appeared to calm down. Its arm fell back to its side.- /As long as it doesn't get too close. Sirius is a big baby, if I don't look out for him spirits just mob him./ -Sirius blushed, his cheeks turning blue while the rest of his fur flickered like a fire burned in it.- They just don't leave me alone. And most of them are mean to me. -He looked a little shyly at the kit.- Ghosts and things pick on me. -He held up the little dragon plushie.- He's the only one who ever stood up for me, but he's not very nice either. /You squish me when you get scared./

Spyridon: So, are you a spirit, too? *he wanted to move closer and poke the little dragon. He'd never seen another spirit besides his and not one that was so cute and cuddly looking, though he thought it best to keep that to himself.* I'm sorry to hear that, I just have one thing that haunts me, but he discovered awhile ago that hurting me only hurts himself, so now he only hurts those who get too close to me. *He watched as it gave up it's attempts to attack Sirius and his friend and circled back to hover just over his head.* My name's Spyridon by the way, but you can just call me Spyri or Spy. I don't really care as long as I know you're talking to me. *He smiled, not used to having a name that someone could summon his attention with. Usually people would just yell at him to get away.*

Sirius: -Sirius' smile was still shy, but now had more energy behind it. Especially when he realized that Spyri's spirit thing wasn't getting any closer.- I'm Sirius. Sometime people call me Siri. -He looked down at the plushie he held.- This is Deimos. That's what I named the plushie, anyway. I don't know the name of the spirit, cause he won't tell me. He just started hanging around, and somehow I put him inside the plushie. He must be pretty strong cause he can boss a lot of spirits around, so I can go outside without being mobbed by them. He doesn't have very good manners.

Spyridon: Nice to meet you, Siri! Hello there, Deimos! *he waved politely to both of them and glanced back at his spirit.* I'd never thought of giving him a name... *he looked away as it smiled creepily at him and began plying with his ear.* I tried shutting this guy in the closet once, but he just broke down the door. *he scratched the back of his neck.* What kind of spirit are you, Deimos? Maybe you can help me figure mine out.

Sirius: -Sirius looked down at Deimos expectantly. He could see spirits, but since they could change their appearance to their liking he couldn't tell what was what. Deimos was fairly evasive on the subject. Even now he appeared to stay stubbornly quiet. Sirius started holding him closer and squeezing him a bit. A mouth reopened on the still plushie.- /Hmph. You don't need to know, so I'm not telling. The point is to learn to do things on your own. I'm not here to hold hands you know. As for your tagalong, it shouldn't be hard to figure out what it is once you learn its nature./ It's nature? -Sirius looked a tad confused and stared at the thing hovering over Spyri. He had to quickly look away again; the thing gave him the creeps!-

Spyridon: *he frowned at Deimos, who was being less than unhelpful. It wasn't like he was the one being haunted by a very spiky, unfriendly spirit. He looked at the ghost who was still playing with his ear and back at Sirius and his spirit. His ginning spirit may not be very nice to others, but at least he was nice to him.* I wasn't asking for your hand. *he huffed at the little dragon, who still looked very cuddly despite his bad attitude.* You mean its personality? ...would it help if I gave him a name? Like Sirius named you Deimos?

Sirius: /-sighs and wiggles his arms a little- I mean its nature. Things can't help but behave like what they are. Watch how that thing behaves, and learn about different spirits. That's how you figure out what it is./ -Sirius looked down at Deimos curiously.- Would giving it a name help though? -The plushie waved an arm in a shrug.- /Depends./ -Sirius pouted.- Well that's not a lot of help. -He sighed.- Sorry, this is what I meant. Dei doesn't like giving straight answers if he doesn't have to.

Spyridon: And I'm guessing that's his nature. *He felt a little bad for Sirius, getting stuck with such a cute little disagreable dragon. He scratches his chin and carefully reached up to his spirit. He usually ignored him, but he wondered how it would react if he approached it directly. It let go of his ear to pay attention to him. He leaned closer and it sniffed at him before nuzzling him gently.* I'm not sure what to think of you anymore. *He told it honestly as it gave him a creepy grin before going back to playing with his ear.* What do you think would be a good name for him?

Sirius: -He tilted his head and tried to examine the spirit thing. His fur rippled through multiple colors of flame, mostly oranges and yellows but with bits of blue and green.- Phrixos? He looks a little like one. -His cheeks stained a pale fire-blue with his blush.- I kinda have a thing for Greek names. Some of them just sound so cool.

Spyridon: Phrixos...That does sound cool! Plus, my name is Latin based so it kinda fits. What do you think, Phrixos? *The ghost blinked his strange purple eyes, but his grin seemed to widen even more. He smiled back at it and turned to Sirius.* I think he likes it! By the way, do all spirits talk? Or can only some of them?

Sirius: -His cheeks turned an even deeper blue color at being complimented. It wasn't something he was used to. Most people thought he was just weird, or a coward.- Ah, well I think all of them can talk if they want to. Sometimes they just don't want to though. And I don't think everyone can hear them. My new mom and dad can't see or hear spirits at all. -He tried not to clutch at Deimos.- Most of the spirits I see don't talk much. At least not like having a conversation. They like trying to scare me, so I just don't like ghosts.

Spyridon: You're the first person I've met who's been able to see Phrixos. Usually the only people who notice them are the ones who are being attacked and even they can't see him. My dad has this ability to keep him away, but he tries to take him too far away from me, it just hurts both of us. *He glanced over at Phrixos who was now lying across him and playing with his tail.* I wish people could see him like this. It's hard not being able to get close to people without him attacking them, but they think it's 'cause he's a monster. I think he's really just overprotective. *He reached over and scratched it on the head.* Maybe you can help me train him to see that it's okay for other's to get close to me!

Sirius: -He cast Phrixos a nervous look.- Dei says I should be able to tell ghosts and spirits what to do and they'll listen, b-but it's never worked out that way. -The plushie made a tch sound.- /That's cause you're still a weak crybaby. You gotta get a lot tougher if you want to be the boss./ -Sirius wilted a little. How was he supposed to be the boss of ghosts when they freaked him out so bad?- M-Maybe one day I'll be strong enough to tell ghosts what to do. I'm sure one day you'll also be strong enough that Phrixos will listen to you if you tell him not to do something.

Spyridon: Maybe we can practice together sometime! You can learn to talk to ghosts more and we can teach Phixos that it's not nice to attack others. We don't have to rush or anything like that, but I like hanging out with you and I think the four of us could really benefit from each other's company. *He smiled patted Phixos' head.* Plus, there's more to being a boss than just being 'tough.' And there's nothing wrong with crying. *He shot a short glare at the cute dragon before looking back at Sirius.* What do you think?

Sirius: Maybe! -He looked highly nervous as he glanced around the room.- There aren't as many ghosts here as where I came from, but some followed me and new ones found me. I don't suppose you see ghosts too, or is it just Phrixos? -A rather rude sound came from the plushie in his arms, like the spirit inside was blowing a raspberry at Spyri.-

Sirius: -He glanced around the room, fur betraying the unease that did not show on his face by flickering constantly, as though he was see-through and wrapped around a living flame. It almost always did that, but the calmer he was the slower the effect. He did not see anyone he knew around. Granted Spyridon's "friend" never did anything to calm his nerves, but he still enjoyed talking to Spyri all the same. His own, ever-present "friend" was also with him, balanced carefully on his back. Normally full of snark and opinions, Deimos' silence was highly puzzling and made Sirius feel that much more nervous. He looked around, wondering if he should move on or stick to this area where Noodles seemed to congregate so often in hopes of making a new friend. His mother was always prompting him to do so, though his cousins were just a bit too rowdy for his comfort sometimes.-

Hestia: *As per her usual routine, she was wandering amongst the Noodles just watching the young ones play and the older ones fall in love.
It wasn't such a bad life she had come to live, really. Everyone seemed so happy...
everyone except for a male who looked a bit uncomfortable with a strange presence around him.
Though hesitant at first, the male's strangely flickering fur seemed to call to her so she headed over his way.*
Excuse me, but are you alright? I can't help but notice you seem...*takes a breath, searching for the right word(s)* ill at ease.

Sirius: -He jumped at first being addressed. He hadn't seen this female come up to him, though he was sure that was because he hadn't been paying strict attention rather than her sneaking up on him. He wasn't sure why he thought that; time had proven to him that just cause something was attractive on the outside it didn't follow the inside was of the same caliber. But there was something about the female... Once his heart calmed down from the fright, he noticed something. His fur had flickered like a flame burst forth, moving in a wave towards the female. It had calmed back to glowing embers level of movement, but he also notice how....well, calm it seemed. He wasn't sure why his fur behaved as it did, and fancied a time or two seeing a face come out of the flames. Was he spirit-possessed, or something else? He never knew for certain, having never known his birth-parents. All he did know what that the flames under his fur usually acted in sync with his own body. After being startled as he had, the colors should have been like a maelstrom of fireflies. Instead it winked softly, like a starry sky. He was still nervous, but he could not help but feel this female meant him no harm.- "A-Ah... I'm sorry! I was just..just watching the others." -He cheeks stained the pale blue color of fire.- "I don't know anyone here, and it's hard to introduce myself out of nowhere. I always feel like I'm bothering folks, and-" -He stopped speaking, but the sentence continued in his head. 'And I'm afraid of terrorizing them.' Not that the spirits that followed Sirius around had shown an inclination to torment anyone but Sirius himself, but there were a few that had the potential to cause quite a bit of mischief if they wanted. He was working on his control, but it was still imperfect and not enough to keep more than a couple people safe for a bit of time.-

Hestia: *She felt bad for obviously startling the male but his fur caught her attention once more before she thought to apologize. It reminded her of flames, of the home she once knew, and she couldn't help but smile woefully at it. His words brought her back to the moment and she felt shamed for not apologizing properly and instead staring at him.* Oh, you did nothing wrong. I am sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. *She looked up, noticing his cheeks turned blue instead of pink.* I understand. That can be nerve-wracking situation. How about I introduce myself to you instead? *She smiled at him, hoping to convey a kind openness.* My name is Hestia. What is yours, if I may ask?

Sirius: He ducked his head shyly, face hidden for a moment by his bangs, then peeked up again. "My name is Sirius. Sirius Starbright." He was proud of his last name and his right to claim it. When one is born into an orphanage it is always a great thing to one day have use of a family name. "This is Deimos," he added as an afterthought, gesturing to the dragon plushie settled on his back. A soft sound erupted from it, like steam escaping from a vent. It didn't sound like a bad noise; more like someone trying to hush another person up. Sirius gave it a curious look then turned his attention back to Hestia. And found himself at quite a loss. "I....um. N-Nice weather we're having," he stuttered out. An entire strip of blue went across his nose, and the blue in his cheeks had taken an almost green hue under the blue.

Hestia: Nice to meet you... *She had noticed the plushie before but had been more distracted by the male's fur. Now that she gave it a glance, a smile of hello on her face, she realized it also had a presence about it. Her brow furrowed, curious and confused, as she allowed herself to stare at it. It was unsettling but a not unfamiliar feeling. She took the opportunity to turn away from it and back to Sirius.* It is. A bit cold, though. *She crinkled her nose as if in distaste but returned to an easy smile.* But I suppose that makes going in to a warm building feel all the better... Especially if there's a fireplace.

Sirius: He nodded. "I like fires," he admitted, voice still soft with shyness. He couldn't quite make eye contact either. It was easier to look past Hestia or at her hair or something than into her eyes. She had a relaxing air about her but...the thought of making eye contact was a little too much for him right now. What if she thought he was silly, or stupid? Or even cursed, or insane? "They're very warm and comforting. Not that bad can't happen with fire, but lots of good comes from it."

Hestia: My thoughts exactly. *She smiled, beamed really, at the male who still seemed nervous.* Yes, fire can be dangerous. It is especially so when frightened or upset. But when it is well-cared for and loved it provides warmth and safety in return. It is the very center of life... *She blushed as she realized how her words sounded. In this world she could be mistaken for a pyromaniac or unhinged.* Sorry. I allowed my mouth to get away from me.

Sirius: He shook his head, looking a little flustered but also adamant. "No, that's fine! I-I feel about the same way." He shifted a bit nervously. "I.... The only time I really feel safe is around fire. Like it's my friend. I have.... There's....." He fumbled, not sure how to get the rest of it out. At that moment though he found he didn't have to. "Not many spirits like to play with fire," came a voice that was not Sirius. It appeared to have come from the plushie on his back, though the dragon had not moved at all. Sirius flushed a deep aquamarine and coughed, looking away.

Hestia: *She smiled, glad to meet someone that thought like her. Not many did these days. Not that she held this against them. This world hadn't known her or her family but it made her feel happy all the still that someone of this world could care.* Thank you, that makes me feel... *She was taken aback by the voice and its words. She turned her eyes to the plush. She understood and she frowned.* No wonder I felt something off with you. I suppose this place is more lax in certain areas then they should be.

Sirius: He cringed slightly. "I apologize for him. Deimos has never bothered to learn manners. He's not bad, just....rude." The plushie on his back gave an audible snorting sound, but apparently declined to answer. That was normal enough. Deimos had been a lot chattier when he was a kit, but as Sirius had grown up and learned things he tended to keep his words down to the occasional answer or sarcastic quip. Or both, if he could manage to work them into one, which was probably when he'd just down. Sirius frowned. Spirits didn't like to play with fire? What did that mean? Sure he looked like a fire, but it hadn't stopped them before. He wanted to ask, but was pretty certain he wouldn't get an answer from the grumpy spirit residing in the plushie anyway, so he turned his attention back to Hestia with another apologetic grimace. "I....seem to attract spirits. Usually mischievous ones, but some are quieter. I only just learned how to shield from them.

Hestia: *She eyed the plush on Sirius' back before shaking her head and smiling lightly at Sirius.* It's fine. I am no stranger to shades though I have never known one to possess a plush toy. *She bit her lip to suppress a smile, not meaning to upset either Sirius or the spirit, Deimos. She blinked rapidly for a moment, absorbing the information Sirius told her.* Oh, that is interesting. They don't harm you, correct? That would be too cruel of them... *She couldn't help but feel the urge to wrap Sirius in a hug but she kept her distance.* I suppose that means you're... I think they call it "gifted" here?

Sirius: He shuddered ever so slightly. "They don't....harm me. But they like to scare me. You know, popping up out of nowhere or making sounds in the dark. Tapping on things or moving stuff around." If it wasn't for the fact that he was supposed to be an adult and talking without another mature adult (and because Deimos complained about being squished), he'd have pulled Deimos off his back and hugged him like an old blanket. It was an old method of comfort for him, and even if Dei grumbled about it he still allowed it. "It was...pretty bad for the first parts of my life. But I lived somewhere where creepy wasn't all that unusual, so I don't think anyone paid much attention. Then my parents took me in and gave me Deimos, and not long after that a spirit came to me and helped chase away the worst of the creepies. He lives in Deimos cause it's easier for him. I don't know if that's his real name, but it's better than having no name."

Hestia: *Her brow furrowed as she listened to what Sirius had had to deal with. Honestly, it made her upset that here spirits were allowed to just roam freely. Her brother would have never allowed this himself. But really it was her heart strings that were tugged at when Sirius looked so very upset.* Oh, Sirius, I am sorry you had to deal with that. Shades can sometimes be some awful things, though they sound much rowdier than I am used to. *Tentatively she reached out a paw to place on Sirius' shoulder, not wanting to startle him but wishing to comfort him as she had seen others do for their friends.* Things are better now, though, correct? Or at least getting better. Sounds like you were found by a loving family. *She smiled encouragement.*

Sirius: He nodded. "They're the best. More energy in Mom and her side of the family that I was used to seeing, so it took getting used to. Dad...he's one of those people that can make being active look lazy." He smiled a little as he thought of Starlight and his odd blend of keeping things calm while seeming to be a bit of everywhere and nowhere. "Neither of them see spirits or any of that so they couldn't help much there. I've been told my skills are largely a matter of confidence and practice, so hopefully I'll get even better than I am with time." He thought about mentioning his....problem at home, but decided against it. It was horribly ironic that he loved making dolls and plushies and was even good at it, but everything he'd made so far seemed to quickly become a host for another spirit. Not tormenting ones, but it was a tad uncomfortable to walk into a room and feel all the presences. But what could he do? Destroying the things might irritate the spirit, and he certainly couldn't give them away! But that was one creepy fact too many for a first meeting, so all he did was sigh and say, "It's always a work in progress."

Hestia: *She could not help but beam, a warmth radiating off of her, as Sirius spoke of his family.* I think a lively family is the best. I have five siblings so I know what an energetic family can be like. *Though she rolled her eyes, her smile was still in place. It was moments when she reminisced like this that she felt the tug in her heart from missing her siblings. She wished they would visit her but understood they would always be much busier than her. She shook her head lightly and turned her thoughts back to Sirius.* That sounds like a reasonable conclusion to me. Any skill is only developed with practice and with practice comes confidence and vice versa. *She noticed her paw was still touching him so she rubbed the spot briefly then lifted it away.* I am sure you'll master this some day. I believe in you, for what it is worth.

Sirius: His smile was shy, but he managed eye contact. "It's worth a lot. It's always good to be believed in, even if it's from someone you just met." He flushed a pale blue as he added, "Thanks," then cast about for a change of subject before things got uncomfortable; friendly as Hestia seemed, there was only so long it was polite to seem mopey with someone you only just met. "So...-," he hesitated, racking his mind for a question that was just impersonal enough that it didn't seem snoopy but personal enough that it didn't seem like just a token question. "W-what kind of things do you enjoy doing? I'm not keeping you from anything, am I?"

Hestia: *She nodded, an affirmation that she understood. She wondered if she should relate her own story but decided it didn't matter. It could be a topic for another time should she ever come across Sirius again. She watched and waited patiently as the boy seemed to be thinking of something.* Oh? *She was caught a bit off-guard by the question, not really used to being asked about herself.* I suppose I enjoy Noodle watching. *She let out a light scoff of a laugh before shaking her head.* No, in fact you made this day more interesting then it otherwise would have been. I have sort of allowed myself to become... a hermit, I believe it is called. Talking to you was an attempt to break my habit of just watching and not participating.

Sirius: He cocked his head to the side in curiosity. "Noodle watching," he repeated. He couldn't envision someone so pretty and who seemed so confident being content in just watching. From what he'd noticed such people were naturally inclined to social interaction. "I'm surprised others would let you just watch, for very long anyway," he admitted. "I could understand it in my case, I'm a little off-putting, and Deimos isn't very helpful in that area either. You seem perfectly lovely though!" He blushed as he thought how his words could seem overly forward, but since trying to backtrack would involve a ton of stuttering and nothing helpful, he kept his lips firmly closed.

Hestia: *She nodded enthusiastically even though Sirius hadn't really posed a question. She just felt her words needed confirmation. When he expressed surprise, she simply shrugged.* I have a quiet presence that can be easily ignored. *She blushed in turn at Sirius' compliment.* Thank you for your words. *Her presence remained calm so as to keep Sirius from feeling intimidated as she moved slightly closer.* I don't find you off-putting. I did come over, after all. *She smiled brightly and hoped to encourage him.* I find you more curious than weird and would like to learn more about you.

Sirius: "I can't imagine what there would be about me that you'd like to learn about," he responded earnest. It wasn't a very pretty life. Not ugly, but just uncomfortable, and most folks tried to wade away from such ground. He pulled Deimos from his back and arranged him neatly in front of his feet. "What is it that you wanted to learn?"

Hestia: *She smiled serenly at Sirius while staring calmly into his eyes. She was contemplating his existence and all the things about him that made her both curious and drawn to him. Where should she begin? When would she push too much? She didn't want to frighten him away so soon. She ended up shrugging and biting her lip.* Would it be too much to say "everything"? *She laughed at her own question, hoping her words wouldn't intimidate Sirius* Not all at once, mind you, and I'm not sure how much you actually could answer, as not everyone understands themselves enough to explain their ways to another... But do you, perhaps- *her eyes moved to take in his whole form* -know why your fur is the way it is? It's beautiful, by the way.

Sirius: He flushed a brilliant blue/aquamarine all over his face, and even up to his ears! It was the first time anyone had used the word beautiful to describe his fur. "A-ah, well, I don't know the answer for certain. I don't know who my birth parents are, you see. I think Deimos knows. He's called me "fire spirit" and he's referenced fire a couple times, but he when I ask him what he means he won't tell me." He looked down at the conspicuously silent plushie resting between his front legs. "I don't know if he's deliberately withholding or he doesn't actually know for certain, cause he won't answer that question either. I just assume I'm in some way connected to fire, and that's why my fur looks and acts the way it does."

Hestia: Fire, yes. *She nodded slowly and tried to keep from watching his fur to closely as it changed hues.* That explains why it feels familiar. I -- *she blushes herself before continuing*-- I have an affinity for fire. *She looked at the plushie inbetween Sirius's feet.* It's hard to know with Shades what they mean and if they speak truths. Hopefully you find out some day.
