Kasiya breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the smoke was beginning to recede, visibility now good enough so that she could see the light of her Charmeleon's tail flame. She could also see the gap Nova had cleared with her Dragon Rage; a large, open space which meant that if the Quilava got close, she would at least be able to see it. She still couldn't see Riza, but the thought of losing to the raven-haired girl was still almost unbearable so she clenched her fists and grit her teeth. Her loss to Harkua was still weighing heavily on her mind as well and she narrowed her eyes. One loss in a day was too much for her.
Riza had called for a Quick Attack, which meant Eris would be coming in for a direct attack. Kasiya smiled to herself; this was their chance! "Hold your ground, Nova!" she called. "Wait for her to get close and use your Dragon Claw!" It probably would have been safer to go with Dragon Rage, but Kasiya didn't want to waste all that power they'd stored up with Dragon Dance. Nova growled, snorting out a puff of smoke as she readied her claws, which were already flaring up with an indigo hue. Eris was speedy, even without using Quick Attack and Nova braced herself, teeth grit as the Quilava's attack struck. Despite taking the damage Nova fought back, slashing fiercely with her glowing claws. She wasn't going down without a fight!
=-=-=-=-= Surge just smirked over at Crenu, ignoring the comment about using a Water-type. He hated to admit it, but he had been bested by Water Pokemon before, though it wasn't a common occurrence. He had thought Ariados had put up a good fight, considering that Magneton was on its proverbial last legs. If he hadn't ensured a hit with Lock-on, it was hard to say where they'd be now, though he did raise an eyebrow when he saw Crenu release a Pupitar onto the field. He wasn't sure if it was out of necessity or because he didn't have any other Pokemon that were ready for this match, but he sure didn't hesitate to call an attack, and before he knew it, a rocket-propelled hunk of stone was flying across the battlefield and smashing into the already-weakened Magneton. Needless to say that was enough to knock the Magnet Pokemon out of the battle and Surge recalled it in a swift motion, pleased with his Pokemon's performance.
He didn't even pause to think as he sent out his second Pokemon, one that had been out on the battlefield only a little while ago, back in the Vermilion Square. His Electabuzz gave a loud growl and pounded his fists together, electricity sparking off in all directions. Of course Surge knew that Electabuzz's Electric-type moves wouldn't be useful against the Rock/Ground-type, but that was just how the yellow and black-striped Pokemon acted when being sent into battle. "Okay, 'lectabuzz, let's start off with yer Screech!" Surge called. It had served him well in the first round, so he figured he might as well give it a try a second time. Electabuzz took a deep breath before opening his mouth and releasing an ear-splitting cry.

Being dragged off to the ladies' room was an oddly familiar feeling for Kasiya and as she helped Sasha shove the chair through the barely-large enough door she realized this sort of thing had happened before, back when they were on the ocean liner headed for Sinnoh. Kasiya's face turned a little red as she recalled that ordeal, having felt a little like a rag doll as Sasha dressed her up and painted over the nasty bruises that had since mostly faded. She was oblivious to Sasha's accessory woes as she dug through her messenger bag to pull out a brush, and before long, Sasha was working her way through the tangles and knots, though thankfully the braid had prevented a lot of them. "Colour it?" she repeated, taking up a strand of her golden-blonde hair and studying it. "Why would I want to do that?" She looked at herself in the mirror and tried to imagine what she'd look like with pink hair, like Sasha, or bright red, like Flannery. She honestly couldn't see her hair any other colours than her natural one.
She closed her eyes and titled her head down a bit, allowing herself a few moments to relax as Sasha continued to run the brush through her hair, and listening to the pretty melodies hummed by her friend. She probably could have started to doze off if Sasha hadn't asked her a question. "Hmm? Oh, well, yes. I'm going to train harder than ever," she said, giving a slight nod. "I want to become stronger, so that I can protect the people I care about." She thought about mentioning rescuing Shocker, but decided against it. She wasn't sure why she didn't want everyone to know, but that was just how she felt. "Of course, I want to meet new people, and Pokemon, and win badges!" She forced a smile as Sasha worked out a particularly tough knot, and looked up into the mirror to meet her friend's eyes. "What about you? What are you going to do when all this craziness is over?"
=-=-=-=-= Jake beamed, and lifted up his right foot as though to show off his boot a little better. "Thanks! My sandals broke and the workers were kind enough to not let me run off barefoot, so they gave me these." He watched the Shinx curiously as it studied the other Pokemon. The gentle-natured Grotle ventured closer, lifting a leg and calling out a greeting while Magnemite continued its utter disregard for Cirrus' personal space. "We could head back to Floaroma, I'm sure it won't take us long now. Or we could just continue up the route and see if we can't find the path to Eterna Forest."
He suddenly recalled his poor judgement during his last capture and realized that Bibarel was probably pretty roughed up from it, and considering that Solaris and Cirrus had been roughhousing as well, it was probably a better idea to head back to the Pokemon Center, just for good measure. "Actually, maybe we should get back to the Pokemon Center. Magnemite could use some healing before we head out for real." The Magnet Pokemon turned towards its trainer, raising an imaginary eyebrow. It had been weakened enough to be caught, yes, but it wasn't exactly hurting. Regardless, it seemed to like Jake's concern for it and it sped over to Jake before deciding to make a nest in his blonde, spiky hair. "Unless you'd rather just move on?" Jake added as an afterthought.
=-=-=-=-= Karrigan didn't miss the coy smirk Amber had thrown over her shoulder once she'd successfully trapped Lee with her Fire Spin, and suddenly Karrigan remembered that these were the very tactics the Vulpix had used to bring down three of her Pokemon before Lennier had stepped in. You sly little fox, the redhead thought, allowing herself to smile as well as she knew exactly what Amber would want to do now. "All right, go for it," she said, nodding.
Amber nodded as well and she turned back to the Fire Spin, studying it for a moment before she raced forward, white light trailing from behind her as she initiated a Quick Attack, heading straight for the vortex of flames. As she reached it, she jumped forward and right through the wall of fire, protected by her Flash Fire ability, ready to slam the Tyrogue and give some payback for him picking on her back in the wild.

Crenu wasn't surprised to see Magneton go down, it had fought well against Ariados and beat her but not without taking damage as well, and a powerful Bick Break was a tough hit to take for anyone, especially a steel type. But this was only the beginning of course, and Crenu didn't falter his gaze not pleased with taking out his opponents first pokemon as his had been taken out as well. Pupitar hovered in place for a bit after striking the magnet pokemon, falling back into place and balancing on his lower tip staring straight ahead with a gaze that matched Crenu's. Even when Electabuzz was called to the field and showed its eagerness for battle the hard shell pokemon just stared silently. Crenu wasn't sure if this was the same Electabuzz from before, but he had seen how dangerous it could be and knew better than to let his guard down just because electric attacks couldn't be used. He waited for the opening move, and crossed his arms when surge issued it. "Use screech as well." He said calmly. As Electabuzz let out an ear piercing wail that filled the air Pupitar took in a big lungful of air through the ports on his body and expelled it quickly. While he could feel the screech shaking him inside his shell he didn't let that stop him from shrieking at the top of his lungs as well. Such a loud noise coming from a relatively small body, the air was filled with two Screech attacks that he felt could be heard from just about anywhere.

Four Years Ago
Scarlet and Cyan sat quietly next to each other on the swing outside the redhead’s house, each one with a pokemon egg cradled between their legs. Scarlet stared at the tiny oval, petting it as he felt something moving inside. Something wasn’t the right word though. Nah, it was gonna be his Totodile. A grin slowly crept across his face, excitement starting to overwhelm him. “This is gonna be so cool, Cyan! They’ll be best friends, hang out and everything.” It was gonna be so much fun. Especially after Amy finally got to go get her pokemon and they had super epic triple battles against totally random groups of people. “And when we battle, I won’t even use water attacks,” he teased, his grin getting a lot wider.
Cyan didn’t look half so thrilled. Her bright green eyes were just as focused on the egg as Scarlet’s were before, but where his were almost sparkling with sheer joy, hers had an almost sad look about them.
“Cyan…? What’s wrong? You finally got your Cyndaquil…”
When she looked up at him, all she could do was sigh. She brushed a lock of azure hair from her face, her lips curling up into a frown. “I dunno. I’ve been waiting forever to get my first pokemon from New Bark, and I finally go there, and they’re out because we took so long.” Her gaze fell on the egg again, and tears started to well up in her eyes. “We really don’t have a very good chance of getting what we wanted, y’know…”
Scarlet sat there for a moment, with no clue what to say. She was more inclined to be right than he was. She was way better at math, though in a pinch, he’d have rather cheated off Amy. Still, Cyan was actually starting to cry, and girls crying was probably the worst thing in all creation. He had to stop it, so he reached out and patted her shoulder. “It’ll be okay, Cyan. We’ll double our chances, okay? If I get a Cyndaquil, and you get a Totodile, we’ll make a trade!”
She looked up at his, and he flashed a winning grin. “How about it?”
Cyan wiped her eyes and nodded, smiling back just as wide. “Yeah!”
~~~
That… is unreasonably terrifying Scarlet thought to himself, fingers digging into his bag as he quivered a bit at the look of sheer unrestrained hatred in Vector’s face. He knew that the croconaw and Cindy weren’t exactly the best of friends, but… “Fall back, Cindy! Use Smokescreen!”
Falling back definitely sounded good to Cindy. She sucked in air through her mouth, spitting out a thick cloud of jet black smoke that billowed up around her and Vector. And to her left she darted, outside of the range of the opaque wall of gas, staring with more than a little concern in the Croconaw’s general direction. At least he wouldn’t be finding her that easily.
“Let’s clear a bit of this out, shall we, Vector?” The smirk on Cyan’s face turned Scarlet’s stomach. “Water gun! Sweep to your right!”
Cindy grit her teeth, baring fangs and digging her paws into the ground when she heard that deep, terrible bellow that Vector made in response. A vicious cannon of water tore through the haze right next to her, stray droplets sizzling as they landed on the flames that blazed on her back.
“Holy crap run!” Scarlet panicked, issuing a pretty needless order, especially considering how fast Cindy got the hell out there. She darted to her left again, just barely keeping ahead of the water gun. It wasn’t fun. Not at all.
“Okay, I want you to use your quick attack! It’s the best we’ve got to stop that blast!” Scarlet yelled, voice thick with concern. He was pretty sure he was right. This was the best, the only course of action to stop the fire, especially with the water gun blasting smoke particles out of the air. They wouldn’t be able to rely on accuracy loss for much longer.
Kasiya's big-hearted goals made Sasha smile proudly. She truly was the most loyal person she knew. “Z'here are few like you, ma chere.” she said softly as she brushed. As she cleaned up her friend, Sasha felt like she was restoring an old portrait of those sweet looking maidens that hung in those old houses. She looked so pure, so innocent. This of course, triggered one of two responses in the pink-haired girl. One was to grab her and give her a hug so big it would probably cause her pretty little head to pop. The other was a bit darker. After all, it's always the sweet and quiet ones who turn out to be the most wil- Non! Sasha shook her head, stopping that fantasy before it even started. Méchante! As much fun as it would undoubtedly be, she needed to calm down. For now, she was forbidden fruit. Sasha regained her nurturing composure without indication that she had almost just locked the door and ...treated Kasiya to a platonic and enjoyable game of patty-cake.
“Hm?” Sasha asked at Kasiya's question. “Moi?” she was taken aback by the redirection. No one ever really asked her what her plans were. To be honest, it was not so much a bad thing. This past week had been so hectic she hadn't had what most would call a normal day in a while. Between the kidnapping, the beach party, tracking down Maz (she shuddered), and the past day in Lavaridge, she didn't have the chance to do anything normal for very long. “Well,” she began. “Tomorrow I have a photoshoot in Celedon-which I look terrible for, by the way.” Sasha peered out from behind her friend to inspect just how terrible she looked. She was no Mike Kyoka, that's for sure, but there were some small cuts and tender patches around her body that were sure to turn her body into a checkerboard over the coming days. “Celeste will be mad at me.” she said, along with some muttered French curse words. “After z'hat, I may head down to Fuschia to challenge Koga. If not, I plan on going to a club I like back home and having a night to myself.”
A few minutes later, Sasha had finished touching up Kasiya's hair, and after a quick face-scrubbing, she was looking just fine. “All you need now is to take a quick shower and wash z'hose clothes and you'll be as good as new.”
Would you like to take one with me?
“...I could wash your clothes while you take one, if you'd like. I'll be sure to check to see if Mike comes out and let you know if he does.” Sasha smiled sweetly, flicking the imaginary devil that was whispering such fun ideas in her ear.
------
Before heading out the door, Karen was sure to grab a small bag filled with a change of clothes that she knew her son would need. No matter how tough, how flame-retardant, how reinforced she made his clothes, he would always find a way to completely destroy them. At this point, there was little else she could do other than force the boy to wear full-plate armor. Then again, knowing him she'd get a call about how he had gone and welded himself into a molten-metal cube and to not be mad at Nitro for an unspecified reason. Karen sighed, trying to find even the slightest bit of levity in this situation. “My poor, poor baby.” she said under her breath as she opened the door.
Being a small town, the Summers residence was only a six or so minute walk from home, and Karen had traveled it enough it was as if they had lived next door. Thankfully the size of the town meant there were going to be no people on the paths to stop her and ask her questions about the volcano, even though she knew that was the reason her phone had been buzzing almost non-stop for the past few hours.
As they neared the final turn to reach Keegan's house, the red-head suddenly spoke up and stormed off. Karen turned around as he walked off and pinched the bridge of her nose. He probably got scared off because of his dad. Their relationship was never the most model. “Flannery, honey.” she said with a sigh. “I'll deal with Todd. Would you be a dear and get him? I'm sure Mike would want to see both of you when he wakes up.”
The poor, abandoned Koffing continued to alternate between happy grunts and pained whimpers as Jasper carried it back toward the entrance of the Slowpoke Well. The trip was small and uneventful, with the only main issue cropping up when Jasper tried to carry the poison type under one arm while he tried to climb the ladder. Ditto-chu had avoided any trouble by conveniently transforming into a rather large, golden-coloured Pidgey and gave a very excited Totodile a lift to the top of the ladder. Jasper wasn't as capable, however, and at one point lost his hold and slipped, managing to catch himself but had the cost of losing his hold on the Koffing and she tumbled down into the blackness. landing with a dull thud on the stony floor at the bottom. Naturally the poison type wasn't terribly thrilled with being dropped, but the fact that Jasper practically raced back down the ladder to retrieve her, uttering a string of apologies as he did so, was enough for her to forgive him.
The group finally united at the top of the well, greeted by a rush of cool, night air and the singing of unseen insects in the distance. The path back to Azalea was brightly illuminated by a line of street lamps, making Jasper feel a bit safer and more at ease, as though it were less likely that they would be accosted by more of Team Rocket's goons. A yawn escaped him as he reentered the city limits, wondering what Scarlet and Jett had been doing in his absence. Has they done all the training they wanted? Whatever it was his new friends were up to, he sincerely hoped it was nothing like his ordeal. Sure, he'd managed to get out of it virtually unscathed, and he'd stopped them from capturing Slowpoke and cutting off their tails for profit, but he knew in his heart that he was lucky that it had only been a pair of low-ranking grunts he'd run into.
With little difficulty, Jasper found his way to the Pokemon Center and he stepped inside, finding it odd that the feeling of security intensified upon his reentry. Up until he'd started calling himself a Pokemon trainer a few days ago, he'd never really liked these places and avoided them at all cost, but since he didn't have a home to return to, he figured the Pokemon Center was as close as he would get. He ushered his Pokemon inside, noting that Ditto hadn't changed back from the bird Pokemon yet, landing on the counter. Jasper set Koffing down beside it, and looked over as the nurse greeted him. "Good evening," she said, smiling brightly. "Would you like me to treat your Pokemon? Your Koffing doesn't look too good." * * * * * * * * * * Hayley stretched her arms over her head and leaned back in her seat, enjoying that content feeling one has when their tummy is nice and full, but not too full. She too thanked Kressen, both for the mean and for showing her such a nice place to eat, and she glanced over at her Pokemon. They too seemed to be quite content, particularly Mya and Tisyphone as the two females were busily grooming themselves. Hayley was aware of the depressing effect her little tale had on the group, and she realized that she'd neglected to mention to Kressen and Alex that she and her twin had been separated when they were babies so therefore they didn't remember each other, which Hayley was certain made the separation that much easier to cope with. She was sure if she could remember her brother and knew him, she wouldn't be dealing with it nearly as well. She had the small bit of information that she and her adoptive parents had managed to dig up, but the leads they had never really went anywhere.
The prospect of a battle made Cynder's head jerk up and he jumped to his feet, tail ablaze with anticipation. The movement was enough to startle the Nidoran nearby and even Mya jumped back, and now three pairs of eyes looked toward Hayley. The brunette felt her heart sink a little, as she still wasn't very good at it and in actuality she'd prefer to go back outside and jeep drawing Pokemon, but she recalled advice that Professor Oak had once given her, telling her that she'd never be able to travel all over the place unless her Pokemon were strong enough to help and protect her. She swallowed the proverbial lump in her throat and finally gave a meek nod. "Sure, all right. I've had a few battles before, but um, I've never won any. I'm kind of sort of really not good at the whole battling thing, so I guess it'd be good for all of us."
Cynder was already heading toward the door and Hayley slid out of her seat and scooped up her other two Pokemon. "Do you know a good place for battling?" she asked Kressen, figuring he was the best one to ask since he knew the area so well.
Dante watched with a small frown on his face as the creepy waving Tangrowth countered Kenny's impressive Wil-O-Wisp with it's own impressive Ancient Power. The frown looked to attach itself permanently onto Dante's face as the bimbo Barbie's words were heard. 'Pretty boy? Why do they always call me that.' Dante knew he wasn't masculine, he never had been and never would be since he had inherited pretty much all of his looks from his mom. Why couldn't he have gotten some looks from his unknown father? Dante lamented to himself as he gave the woman a frigid glare. Really that was probably the one insult that never failed to get to him. Maybe cutting his hair shorter wasn't going to solve anything? Maybe if he shaved his head and put weird piercings and tattoos all over he could escape the insult once and for all? Of course it never helped that he traveled around with masculine trainers like Keegan or the fact that he had often cross-dressed in the past. That might have something to do with the girly comments he got.
Oh right the contest was going on and really needed to pay attention to that, he could contemplate ways to make himself more masculine later. "Shadow Sneak." Dante called out doing his best not to make it sound like her insult had affected him, he wasn't quite sure that it worked either. Still Kenny got the idea and the large Dusclops moved to obey his commands.
Dante would never be disappointed in how well the ghost pokemon adapted to any situation. He himself would have been, and still was, a bit lost in this whole contest business but it seemed like the smart ghost pokemon had picked up on the whole concept with ease. Or maybe it was the fact that he was just so big and intimidating now that he didn't really have to try? Still Dante watched as one of the Dusclops hands seemed to disappear only to seemingly materialize out of the Tangrowths shadow and shoot towards the mass of vines.
Robin couldn't be prouder of her greatest friend as she watched his attack hit. "Great job Luffy! Your the best!" She cheered on unable to keep the joy inside of her. It always made her heart swell watching any of her pokemon battle but none more then watching Luffy battle. He had been strong before but ever since his evolution he had moved onto another level. It was almost like Luffy had been working on the assumption that he always had this form instead of his old one. It was so odd to think that way but maybe it was true? Robin didn't really know, she wasn't exactly the smartest when it came to these kinds of things. All she knew though was that she wanted to keep this rush going. "Luffy let's show just how great a team we are! Return!" Robin called out.
Out on the battlefield Luffy grinned and took off in a direct line towards the pretty flower pokemon. Inside he felt the powerful bond of his and Robin's friendship become almost a physical thing. The power of that seemed to fuel him onward, he had been getting so tired as the battle was going on, it was almost like there was something wrong, and his tail was throbbing more and more with every passing second. Still though the excitement of the battle was hard to wear down. He hadn't battled in so long and he wasn't going to waste this opportunity. That thought in mind he finally let the power of his and Robin's bond take over and the Ambipom became a bright light headed towards the Roserade.
Rowan watched the flamboyant teen ramble to himself. Something about ninja's and he suddenly had a bad feeling about things. "Why don't you find the boy and I will take care of securing his pokemon?" Rowan uncharacteristically offered. He had a feeling that if he sent this boy off with the task that the pokemon would never be recovered. Besides he had a few favors he could call in. Favors from people who seemed a whole lot more subtle then this kid. In fact the Professor wasn't even sure that this young man even knew the meaning of that word. "Call me when you find him." He muttered hoping the boy got the message and to just leave him alone. Besides he had a few phone calls to make now. After he finished his morning paper that is.
Riza glanced casually toward the gym, wondering how Shiro's battle was going with Surge. It had been a three on three, and judging how long their little chat had taken as well as the few rounds of this match, it was hard to say how far Shiro's match had progressed. Her attention was called back to her own battle when she heard Kasiya's command, and she felt a flare of panic in her chest. Dragon Claw was probably about as bad as Dragon Rage, considering Nova had spent a few rounds powering up. Eris wasn't about to alter course though and she charged on in, already wary of those glowing claws. She decided then that if she was going down, she was going to put as much into this hit as she could and instead of trying for the hit and run, she ran straight on in to the Charmeleon and threw as much of her weight into the fire lizard as possible. Unfortunately, Eris wouldn't get to know how much, if any, damage she inflicted on Nova because the last thing she was able to recall was the feel of that unnatural fire burning away at her.
The majority of the smoke had cleared away now so Riza had a clear view of her Quilava as she lay flat on the ground, completely knocked out. She could also see that Amy and the red headed girl had started their own battle, but she couldn't see what Pokemon they were using as a towering pillar of flames was blocking the view. Riza scowled as she recalled Eris, silently thanking the fire-type and making several mental notes to add some new moves to her arsenal the first chance she got, and her scowl shifted to a deadly smirk as she sent out another Pokemon in Eris' place, her always ready Crawdaunt, Diemia. Not wasting a moment, Riza pointed at the Charmeleon. "Brick Break!" she very nearly screeched. Diemia didn't hesitate to comply, setting her sights squarely on Nova as she charged, glowing claws already raised and ready to smash the smaller, orange Pokemon into oblivion. * * * * * Even though the battle was not going well for Gardenia, she couldn't help but smile and still enjoy it. It was always worth while to battle spirited trainers like Robin, and it always made her happy to see well-raised Pokemon like this Ambipom. "You guys are awesome!" the gym leader called, prompting a nod of agreement from Roserade. "But we're not done yet!" she added even as Luffy had started to launch his attack. Judging by the bond between Robin and Luffy, Return would be quite the hit and taking it head on would be bad news for Roserade.
"Counter it with Sludge Bomb!" Gardenia called, allowing her voice to take a slightly more serious tone. Roserade held up both arms again, honing in on the Ambipom as he rushed toward her. Both bouquets of roses started to glow a bright violet and she squared her aim, a ball of condensed poison forming between them. She waited and waited and then let it fly as Luffy got closer, hoping that attacking the Ambipom would help to slow some of his momentum before he could fully bowl her over and possibly end the match.
[Magma Time Line]
Kilik set the unconscious Magma Boss in a chair and stretched a little bit, feeling every single pop in his vertebrae. "Uuugh," he groaned, putting his hand on his neck and rubbing slightly. This was a long day. Quite possibly the longest day he'd had in his whole life. It was times like this he wished he'd taken up smoking; he had noticed Keegan always smoked when things got stressful and that seemed to perk him right up. Then he remembered how gross it smelled and that made him gag slightly. A long, cold shower would have the same effect. As Kilik looked up, he noticed a horde of policemen come from downstairs, along with a very barrel chested man. His shirt was undone near the top, due to his bulging pectorals and Kilik was fairly certain that the hair poking out from the top was just an extension of manliness trying to escape and bless the world. Everything about the chief was intimidating; his sheer size, his large mustache, and booming voice was enough to bring even the strongest of men (sans him) to their knees.
The boy stepped out of the way as Maxie, still out cold, was cuffed and placed onto a stretcher by a few officers. "He doesn't really need that much," Kilik laughed, scratching his head, "He's just unconscious. A swift punch to the face is all." Then again, he needn't mention the sheer psychological damage that Maxie was probably going to end up with. Any sane man would have lost it after what he'd been through. Kilik turned to Winona and the Chief as he approached her.
"I'll be uh," Kilik looked over his shoulder outside to see his Flygon looking in, "outside. Just lemme know when you're good to go and we'll meet everyone in Lilycove." He waved with two fingers and headed outside, putting a hand on his Flygon's side.
"Bahamut," he laughed, "Today is just one of the craziest days of our lives. At least it's almost over, huh girl?"
-*- [Time Skip]
The boy glanced over at Katie and his smile somewhat faltered. Though she was smiling back, he could see the annoyance in her eyes. But as he was about to apologize, he was suddenly smashed in the face by what felt like a water balloon. "Grrrk!" Kilik fell onto his back, being nuzzled to near death by the Castform. "It feels like..." he put his hands around the creature and lifted up, breathing heavily. "It feels like jelly. This is jelly." Kilik sat up and handed Castform back to the girl. He kinda laughed at the pink tint on her face.
"My name's Kilik," he said, standing up. "And that's Cable," He pointed very casually at the Electivire, who stomped back over to his trainer's side and stood proudly.
Flareon glanced over and noticed Kilik was talking to someone new. Talk about a social butterfly. The Fire-type dashed over and made a jump onto Katie's left shoulder, his large bushy tail brushing over her neck. "Flare!" he barked, glancing down at the purple haired girl. She looked to be okay, and the fox rolled his eyes. Kilik did always have a bit of a complex and typically went a little overboard with his heroics. Kord could have handled the job quite easily.
And speaking of, Cable looked over to see Kord looking rather hurt. The large Pokemon was very confused; wasn't what he did awesome? Then again, it was just a bunch of weak little birds. Electivire walked back over to the Elekid, leaving Kilik, Katie, Flareon and the girl behind. "Eleeee..." he said, rather sad sounding. It were as if he was apologizing for taking the moment. "Ele-Vire! Electivire, El, El, ViVire." He explained: "I know! Next time, you be the hero!" he put his large finger on Kord's chest and gave him a light jolt, a large smile spread across the Electivire's face.
Surge couldn't help but laugh, as even though he couldn't hear Crenu's command to Pupitar over Electabuzz's screeching, it quickly became quite clear what it had been for and now two different sets of terrible noise bounced around the gym. Electabuzz could feel it getting to him as well, but like Pupitar he put up a very strong front and refused to let it show. When the two Screeches finally came to an end, the sudden silence inside the gym was almost more deafening than the sound before it. "Whoo, that was somethin' else, wasn't it?" he laughed, slapping his hands on his stomach. He liked having fun with his battles, but fun could only last for so long.
Then, his grin faded into a more serious expression, and he motioned forward with a large hand. "Electabuzz, playtime is over. Cross Chop, now!" The Electric-type pounded his fists on his chest and then he was speeding toward Pupitar in a streak of black and yellow, his powerful arms both raised high in preparation to strike with a pair of solid chopping motions. Surge watched carefully, as he knew that even though he couldn't shock a Ground-type like Pupitar, Electabuzz's Static ability could still kick in and cause paralysis. It was a slim chance, however, and Surge would never rely on pure chance.
=-=-=-=-= Kasiya was mostly oblivious to Sasha's inner turmoil as she watched the pink-haired girl's odd mannerisms reflected in the mirror, and she couldn't help but giggle a bit. Sasha was definitely one of the quirkiest people she knew, but she was also easily one of the nicest, and kindest, as well. It was her turn to shake her head, and she smiled. "You don't look terrible at all," she said earnestly. "Somehow, even with all that heat and grime and smoke and lava, you still manage to come out of it looking like a supermodel. A bit roughed up, maybe, but still a supermodel. You're completely beautiful." She'd twisted the tie that once held her braid around in her fingers so now the tip of her pinky was starting to turn an alarming shade of purple, and she watched with amazement as she loosened it and the skin returned to its normal shade as the proper blood flow was restored. She wanted to ask who Celeste was, but the mention of Koga distracted her and made her think of the battle she'd had with him, not so long ago.
It was amazing how much better she looked and felt after just having her hair brushed and face scrubbed, and Kasiya managed to smile at herself in the mirror. The mention of a shower became far too tempting to resist, however, and she nodded. "Actually, that sounds like a really, really good idea." Sure, her hair was brushed and whatnot but that did not erase the fact that her clothes still stunk like the inside of a volcano. She smiled back at Sasha, blissfully ignorant of the pink-haired girl's darker intentions, though her expression became quite serious at the mention of Mike. "You promise? Even if it's just for a second, you'll tell me?" Her blue eyes were large and pleading, and it was quite clear that she wasn't going anywhere until Sasha promised.
=-=-=-=-= For some reason, Flannery also felt much better now that Karen knew the whole story, as Keegan hadn't left anything out and for some reason, she felt safer now that there were actual adults involved. Sure, most of them were in their late teens and on the verge of adulthood, but everything they'd gone through had been so overwhelming and Flannery wasn't even sure that the grownups would have handled it better than they had. She let out her breath in a long, slow sigh, stealing a sidelong glance at Keegan. She hadn't missed his shaking hands or futile attempt to hide them, but out of respect she pretended like she hadn't noticed, and instead walked quietly beside him once they finally set out, wishing she could help him somehow.
The walk through town felt strange this time but Flannery really couldn't place just how, though she felt a bit of guilt surge through her every time she looked back at Mt Chimney and saw the large, gaping hole in the side. Perhaps it was because she was walking side-by-side with Keegan, and the two of them trailed about seven feet behind Karen, something which had occurred plenty of times when they were younger; though the picture was incomplete without Mike walking on Flannery's left side as the three of them were marched to whatever punishment they'd managed to earn for themselves. Flannery opened her mouth, about to bring up the time Keegan and Mike had stolen pumpkins from the farmer's market and hollowed them out enough to stuff firecrackers inside them when Keegan suddenly wrenched his arm free of hers, and walked off in the other direction, muttering something about the Pokemon Center and not being needed. Her eyebrow twitched and she let out a quiet growl, looking back at Karen as she gave that sigh that all parents were very good at giving, and she nodded. "Okay, we'll meet back here, then."
It didn't take a genius to figure out that Keegan was refusing to go home so that he didn't have to see his dad, as no matter what the Trio had done in the past and even if Keegan hadn't had any part in it, he always seemed to get the worst punishment out of the three of them. He'd been grounded so often that he'd probably spent at close to a solid year or two locked in his room, and that wasn't counting all the extra chores Todd would give him. She and Mike had always wondered if Mr. Summers had ever taken a physical approach to disciplining his son, but it was something they'd never been able to prove nor had Keegan ever mentioned it. Regardless, Flannery had always felt a certain degree of pity for her friend, as Grandpa Moore and Karen were indeed rather lenient when it came to punishments, at least in comparison to Todd Summers.
Fortunately, it didn't take her long to catch up to Keegan and she made sure her steps were loud and obnoxious so that he'd know she was there. She figured she could approach the volatile redhead in one of two ways: she could be the concerned, caring and understanding big sister, or she could be the super-scary, get-your-a**-back-here-or-I'll-kick-it-so-hard-your-grandchildren-will-feel-it big sister. Regardless, she knew she had about a fifty-fifty chance with either approach. "Keegan," she started, deciding for the scary approach first, because it would give her an idea of what was going on in the redhead's mind. "I know you can hear me, so quit with the dramatics already and get your stupid a** back here. I know you don't want to see your dad, but that's too damn bad. After everything that's happened, he'll probably be more happy to see you alive than anything else. So, suck it up and stop being so selfish and let's go already. The others are waiting for us in Lilycove."
A small sigh of relief escaped Kasiya when she saw that Nova's Dragon Claw did the trick, though she did feel a little bad for the Quilava as it was recalled by Riza. Nova had let down her guard down a bit now as well, looking back to Kasiya for further direction. The blonde sighed again, wondering if that had been it, as they'd never really set any rules before the battle started, but before she could ask, Riza had sent out a second Pokemon in her Quilava's place, and the sight of it made a chill travel down Kasiya's spine - a Crawdaunt. Why does everyone and their uncle have one of those things? she thought, fumbling through her thoughts for a command for Nova as the large lobster came barreling towards her.
"D-Dragon Rage!" she managed finally, but Nova, equally as stunned as her trainer by their new assailant, could do nothing but stand there, mouth gaping open in terror. She tried to build up the indigo flames but they just wouldn't cooperate, so all the Charmeleon could do was close her eyes, the last thing she saw being Diemia's claws raised up high and ready to flatten her into a Fire-type pancake. It was safe to say that one hit from the powerful Crawdaunt was enough to knock Nova into the middle of next week, and while normally, seeing her Pokemon hit by such an attack would unnerve her, it had just the opposite effect this time. Kasiya's eyes narrowed and she recalled the starry-eyed Charmeleon, wishing with all her might that she had Shocker here with her so that she could give that thing the zapping of its life. She'd even settle for Flash, her Jolteon, or even borrowing Mike's wacky Ampharos, Beacon, but since none of those Electric-types were accessible right now, she'd have to settle for the next-best Water-type counter.
"Rosemary! Magical Leaf!" she shouted as she threw her Meganium's Pokeball. The Herb Pokemon hit the ground, causing it to shake, and she glanced around, quickly able to pick up the tension in the air. Even still, a battle was a battle and she fixed her gaze on the red Water-type in front of her, the large flower petals around her neck starting to shake before a barrage of multi-coloured leaves spread out and unerringly sped toward Diemia.
=-=-=-=-= Barbie wasn't sure which part of this she was enjoying more, the fact that her Tangrowth's counter had been oh so very impressive or the fact that her comment had definitely gotten to the boy. Granted it wasn't a very far stretch as he was of a very slender build and she couldn't help but wonder why he didn't hit the gym to try to put on some muscles or something like that. Unless he were to do that, she was certain that regardless of how he dressed, he'd probably always manage to look more feminine than masculine.
Regardless of looks, however, Kenny's Shadow Sneak caught not only Barbie by surprise, but Tangrowth as well and the vine-laden behemoth staggered a bit, nearly falling forward and off the beam it stood on. "Ohoh, good one, Pretty Boy!" Barbie called. "You could just win this one yet. Tangrowth, fight back with a Knock Off!" Tangrowth shuffled back to regain its footing before lashing out with one of its long, thick vines, the end of which was starting to glow with a dark aura as it hurtled toward the Dusclops.
Lee found that the throbbing of his head lessened as he closed his eyes and tried to focus his thoughts, ignoring the heat of the flames licking at his skin. He had experienced harsher attacks in his training at the dojo, and suffered through them with silence, without expression. This had to be nothing. The faraway sound of paws on pavement grew closer and he opened his eyes just in time to see the Vulpix charge through the flames in with blurring speeds, ramming into him. He tried in vain to grab the little fox but she was already charging out of the flames, leaving him alone again. His fists clenched and unclenched, a low rumble building in his throat.
Amy's worry only grew as the battle continued, wondering if there was any other possible to escape the confines of the Fire Spin aside from the obvious waiting it out. Waiting the attack out would leave him prone to any sort of attack that Amber decided to use, which meant that when they escaped, he would be weakened and she would be on a roll. She half-considered calling the Fighting-type back, but almost as if he had detected her thoughts, the ruffian glanced back at her when the flames parted enough to allow her to catch his defiant gaze. He would finish this, one way or another, and she would let him do so. "Foresight," she found herself calling instead, hoping that it would allow him to catch Amber the next time she tried that Quick Attack of hers. With a smile that was much more irritated and determined than happy, Lee positioned himself again and focused in on the Fire-type, keeping a keen eye on her dispite the shifting environment he was trapped in. Next time, he wouldn't let her get away so easily. In fact, the Tyrogue was already coming up with a plan of his own.
Cirrus seemed no less inclined to make friends with either Pokemon pestering him at the moment, but his glares were more half-hearted directed towards Jake's Pokemon this time around. Jade was pleased to see that he wasn't attacking anything, which was always a bonus in her eyes. She looked back up as Jake proposed that they return to the PokeCenter, but then second-guess himself upon the energetic state of his Magnemite. He seemed so in control of his Pokemon, so sure of himself, that it bothered her slightly. Right now, she felt like a mess, making them lose time, losing her Pokemon and accidentally catching another that had some major behavioral problems.
"Yeah," the dark-haired girl said quietly, refusing to let her emotions become apparent. "I'd rather we headed back the PokeCenter. There might be trainers on the way... or who knows, I might want to catch some more Pokemon in Eterna Forest before we challenged that gym leader. I want my team at full strength." She glanced down at her newest teammate during that last part, raising her eyebrows. "Right, Cirrus?" He only glared indignantly at her in response and turned away, which did not help her mood much. Suppressing a sigh, she turned on her heel, glancing at the path she had just come down. "We cut to Floaroma this way, right?"
Jett found himself continually glancing up at the sky, checking what time it was, as he walked back to Azalea. There was a certain anxiousness he felt in his chest, something that made his pulse race as he thought the oncoming day and what such a thing would bring. But then he realized that he was not so much worried as he was excited for his gym battle; he didn't know this Bugsy's strength, but he knew that Aerosmith and Athena wouldn't disappoint and their new moves would help them out a lot in the battle. And now he also had Naja, though she probably wasn't strong enough yet. He would train with the Ekans a lot more after his battle, he resolved, and she would catch up with the rest of his team and become a strong, fearsome Arbok.
Entertained by such thoughts and those of the other impending evolution, being River's transformation into that Gallade Pokemon he had seen in his Pokedex, Jett crossed over into the threshold of the small town faster than he had imagined. It would feel good to unwind for a bit, considering the events that had occurred throughout the day. Meeting Scarlet, battling him, then the battle with Miharu and Sam, getting his first badge, getting his Pokedex, meeting up with Jasper, and making it all the way to Azalea for some training and catching a new Pokemon. He wondered how much his siblings had accomplished in their first few days, but then he only thought that they had not failed so monumentally as he had in his time spent in Hoenn. Losses against Leon and Roxanne, not to mention that terrible incident with the Whismur in that cave... The youth frowned a little at the thought, although he knew how inexperienced he had been then and how inexperienced he still was now. But he could get stronger, and so far, his streak in Johto had been pretty decent. At least he'd won a few battles.
After forcing himself to stop reminiscing, he continued into the brightly lit PokeCenter, thinking that he heard the sound of Scarlet's voice out back. Was the redheaded boy still training? He smiled a little as he saw that the counter was currently occupied by his other companion, who seemed occupied with a Koffing. The raven-haired boy stepped behind his older friend in line, waiting until he was done talking with the cheerful nurse before he spoke up. "Hey, Jasper," Jett murmured quietly, smiling a little. "Was that Koffing yours?"
Winona watched as the officers hauled Maxie away, smiling internally as she saw him being led off in handcuffs. Hope you rot, you monster. Her attention then turned to the chief: a veritable mountain of a man. He was those kind of people that always looked angry due to their furry eyebrows and mouth-obscuring mustaches. “Chief Coleman.” Winona said respectfully, extending her hand.
“Always a pleasure to see you, Ms. Riviera.” the chief replied, enveloping her hand in his and giving it a firm shake. In her spare time, Winona had helped track fugitives that entered the Fortee limits. Over the years, she had helped capture almost a dozen criminals. The more dangerous ones were brought here, which caused her to become quite familiar with the crew here. “Now what's all this with Maxie?” He pointed a meaty thumb behind him. “And what does it have to do with that Kyoka boy? Is this related to what happened at Mt. Chimney?” Winona nodded her head to the interrogation room for some privacy. The chief led the way and closed the door behind them.
“I'm sure you've reviewed the tapes and reports of the Slateport and Lilycove incident, sir.” Winona began. “It was revealed that Mike was involved with Team Magma from a very young age. Earlier this morning, Mike Kyoka and some others including myself found the location of the Team Magma headquarters and took it down.”
“A bunch of kids disrupted an organization that had been in hiding from us for years?” the chief asked, his arms crossed. “No disrespect Ms. Riviera, but it's just a bit hard to swallow.”
“We had a lot of help.” Winona continued. “Including locals from Lavaridge and the Gym Leader herself.”
“Flannery was involved in this?” the chief narrowed his eyes.
“Is it really that surprising?” Winona retorted. “Given her extensive history with Kyoka, it only makes sense.”
“Any casualties?”
“No.” replied the gym leader. “We had a close call, but thankfully nothing like that. Some burns and a few broken bones but nothing too bad. Mike himself is in the Lilycove hospital recovering now.”
“I'll send some officers-”
“No!” Winona blurted out, immediately clearing her throat as if to excuse her outburst. “I would advise against that, sir.”
“Ms. Riviera,” sighed the chief. “This boy is wanted for several counts of assault, violently escaping from the Saffron Mental Institution, and not to mention involvement in the worst incident of eco-terrorism in the region's history that left hundreds dead and thousands without homes.”
“Who he helped capture.”
“Who he worked alongside with before!”
“He was thirteen, and was tricked into joining. He was too young to know better!”
“You seem to know an awful lot about this boy, Ms. Riviera.” said the chief accusingly.
“He's...an old friend of mine.” Winona replied. “He has made mistakes, but sir, I believe that if we approached this differently this whole thing can be solved smoothly. If you go in there with police it will just cause more confusion and people could get hurt.”
“I don't know,” the chief rubbed his mustache. “He's very dangerous. He shouldn't be on the streets, especially with Pokemon! He should be in a padded cell.”
“That would make matters worse, I assure you.” Winona pleaded. “Cut him a deal. We just helped bring in one of the most wanted men in Hoenn. You have to trust me, chief.”
Coleman raised his hand to say something, but closed his mouth. He took in a deep, clearly frustrated breath and let it out. “Winona,” he forced. “It is only because of your years of public service and my respect for your judgment that I am even considering this. I will make a few phone calls, and speak to Maxie when he comes to.” He pointed a finger at the Gym Leader and lowered his voice. “If I do this, and it ends up turning into another incident like Lilycove, we will have a nice little chat. Are we clear?”
“Yes sir.” Winona said, her heart pounding in her chest. “Thank you. This means a lot to me.”
“I can tell.” replied the chief. “Now I have work to do. A lot of work.”
“Sir.” Winona saluted, before exiting the room and meeting up with Kilik outside. “I'm going to Lilycove to check on Mike.” she said curtly. “I hope you know the way, because I fly fast.” The Gym Leader released her Skarmory, quickly hopped onto it and launched into the sky.
Sasha felt her heart break into a million little pieces as Kasiya's puppy-eyes looked directly into her soul. “I promise!” she said reflexively. “Even if it is just for une moment!” Anything to not hurt this poor sweet girl's feelings. “I will even clean out his bag so he has somes'hing nice to come back to, okay?” She grabbed the boy's all but completely destroyed messenger bag and frowed. Perhaps making sure his stuff isn't all dust and buying him a new one would be better. She smiled warmly at the blond before grabbing the chair and dragging it out. “Leave your clothes by z'he shower and I will wash z'hem for you.”
Sasha reentered the mostly empty waiting room to the narrow eyes of the mother from before. The pink-haired girl fired the look right back. “Oh please.” she scoffed. “Don't act like you don't know where he came from.” Sasha smiled at the little boy, who looked up at her. “Ello, cutie!” she said sweetly, then looked back at the mother. She was visibly cross, but said nothing. Sasha smiled arrogantly then sat down and began to rummage through Mike's bag. His Super Rod was thankfully pretty intact, although she imagined he wouldn't be doing too much fishing now. What she assumed was a map was ripped into several pieces and burned. His Strength HM was broken, but the other two survived with minor scratches. Sasha pulled out a mangled and shredded dress-like thing covered in flames. “How...fittingly tacky of him.” she mused, jumping slightly as something fell out of it onto her lap. She rolled the dress up into a ball and looked down at her lap. It was a Pokedex; an old Pokedex. It had a brownish red color to it, and the logo of the Volcano Badge on it. “Hm.” She flipped it open and clicked it on.
“Error. Error.” It droned, rather loudly. “The current owner of this Pokedex carries a suspended license. Error. Error. Please contact the Pokemon League to correct this issue.”
“Shhh! Tais-toi!” Sasha said, fumbling with the device. She snapped it closed, silencing it. Now that her heart stopped pounding from embarrassment, she looked at the last thing inside the bag. “A moon stone?” Sasha asked, picking it up and admiring its murky grey color. “It's so pretty. I wonder what he was going to evolve.” the girl searched her brain for Mike's Pokemon for any that would use this and could recall none. “Hm. Probably one in his PC or somes'hing.” Sasha balled the broken items inside the fire dress and placed it back in the bag, setting the salvaged items on the chair next to her. She didn't want to throw out his things without asking.
Dante had to bite his tongue pretty hard or else he probably would have said something pretty nasty to the barbie girl. Still holding back his anger he didn't really have to to react to the Knock Off attack. Unfortunately that caused the large Dusclops to be hit head on. While Knock Off didn't really have power it still hurt the ghost type more due to it's type advantage, there was also the fact that it was called Knock Off and they were on small beams. They do say the larger you are the harder you fall, though Dante was pretty sure that had to do with something else not the size of his pokemon.
"Pursuit!" Dante called out trying to keep his voice calm and actually succeeding this time.
Dante thanked every unexplained pokemon power ever as he watched Kenny right himself in the air and become a Dusclops shaped missile towards the giant mass of vines.
~~~~~~~
Both Robin and Luffy were caught up in the pure joy of the attack Return to actually notice the Sludge Bomb. That was when it smacked full force into the rushing Ambipom knocking it back and covering it with sludge. The Ambipom gave a screech of pain as he fell back. Trying to pick himself up Luffy groaned as the sludge pulled him down a bit. "Luffy try to wipe it off!" Robin called upset that their attack hadn't hit. She was also a bit worried about Luffy. He wasn't looking to good. Was he poisoned? She seemed to remember something about thorns and this pokemon. What if he was poisoned and she didn't know about it? How horrible of a trainer would that make her!? Bitting her lip she watched as Luffy struggled to scrape the sludge off of himself with his tails. "Luffy are you ok?" She called out worried as he got the last of it off of him.
The Ambipom wasn't feeling to good. The aches of the battle and that tired feeling had become a slightly woozy feeling. Still he was going to do this! He wasn't going to Robin down. Who knew when he was going to be able to battle again like this. Besides his other teammates had done the job and so would he! He just hoped that it ended quickly, very quickly.
"Luffy use Brick Break." Robin called out hoping that Luffy had enough strength in him to act.
Gathering up his energy Luffy charged forward again. His Agility from before seemed to be fading away just as fast as his energy. Still he wasn't going to let his friend down. The last hit might not have made it but this one would.

Perhaps it was the exertion from today, or the fact that he hadn't slept well in general for the past however long, but even just that short, quick walk had caused Keegan to run out of breath, so naturally he did the best thing one could possibly do when one could barely breathe: he lit up a cigarette. The nicotine did help to calm him though and he slowly continued to walk forward, figuring that he'd better alter his course and go anywhere but the Pokemon Center lest he want to be found. Of course, as soon as that thought crossed his mind, he heard the telltale, very noisy steps of someone coming up behind him and he stopped, closing his eyes and sighing. Flannery called his name, but he didn't answer, hoping very much that if he ignored her long enough, she'd go away. Flannery Moore was well known for her stubbornness along with her hair-trigger temper, however, and he smirked, already knowing full-well that she wasn't going to leave him alone and he prepared himself. Here it comes, he thought, raising the cigarette to his lips and enjoying a long drag.
At first he rolled his eyes, already bored and impatient for her to get to the point, fully expecting her to go on and on about how silly he was being and how everyone would want to see him and all that bullshit, but her speech went in a completely different direction altogether. Okay, so she and Karen had realized that he didn't want to go home, but anyone that knew him well enough could figure that out. And normally, that wouldn't bother him, but for some reason, hearing those things coming from Flannery, from someone he'd known all his life and in that tone of voice, struck a nerve and before he knew it, he'd spun around, coat fanning out behind him and he'd walked right up to the redheaded girl, glaring at her as if she'd just thrown a rock at his head. "Suck it up?" he repeated, moving closer with every word, his green eyes alight with anger. "Really, Flannery, after everything you've seen, everything you've witnessed, and after all this time, you'd have the nerve to say that to me? Or have you forgotten? Forgotten all the hell that he... the hell that b*****d has put me through over the years? And I'm supposed to care that he might be 'happy' to see me alive and well?" He scoffed and took a couple of quick puffs from his cigarette, shaking his head. "No, if that's the case, he'll only be happy to see me, because that means he gets another chance to work me to death and give me that disapproving look of his that means nothing I ever do is good enough for him. And if it makes me selfish because I don't want to grace him with my presence, then so be it. So ******** be it." ===== The bony structures on Houndoom's body all seemed to take on the same sinister glow before a black, energy-sucking aura seemed to spread out from it, shooting off in all directions. Aska tried to avoid it, but the Dark Pulse was seemingly everywhere and she felt a chill go through her as the dark energy hit her. Miharu, meanwhile, had been standing shock still after Leroy's outburst, staring straight ahead in both embarrassment and hurt. She'd only been going easy because she knew that Lee's Houndoom was the weakest member of his team, and that Aska could really hurt if it they tried. But Lee's words had cut her like a knife and she bit her lip, looking at the ground for a moment, and completely unaware of the dark attack the canine had just unleashed. Finally, she found her words, and she looked up, daring to meet Lee's cold gaze. "Fine," she said, though the word felt bitter and unpleasant on her tongue. "Use Fly."
Aska sensed the shift in the flow of battle and shot straight upwards, becoming a tiny speck in the sky that even Miharu had trouble seeing. Houndoom's head was tilted back as he tried to locate the Pidgeot, which by no means was an easy task considering just how high she'd gone. "That's more like it," was all Lee said, shrugging his shoulders. "Makes sense, if you think about it. Houndoom, surround yourself with a cloud of Smog."
Houndoom did just that, breathing out a thick, greenish cloud of smoke that quickly enveloped him within it. Aska had reached the high point of her climb and now she turned and began to descend rapidly, wings and legs drawn in tight to minimize wind resistance. As she came in closer, all she could see was a patch of green, and suddenly Miharu's voice rang out, loud and clear. "Aska, stop! Use Whirlwind instead!" she cried. With some effort, the Pidgeot came to a stop, though the sudden shift in momentum was hard on her wings. She began to beat them again, however, creating a fierce storm of wind that began to push the poisonous smog back.
