Well, the job of guard sounded simple enough. And if all that "capturing" required was him tagging them...well, he was playing with zombies. And he had already proven that he was faster than most of them. He glanced over, finding it rather rude to stare at the ghouls but doing his best to find something memorable about them. These were enemy ghouls, and if he had to get them out it was just tagging...he did not have to harm them. That would be okay. Maybe. But he would have to be very careful about how to tag them. Perhaps their shoulders? Or...
It sounded like Alexander thought they should stay together and that would be useful. Yes, Alexander could be in charge of tagging all of the females. Problem solved. So when the group began to head off and Alexander suggested that he might try a different job he shook his head. "I think that I could be suited for this job. Someone who knows the area better may be a better choice as a scout. If you do not mind I shall accompany you." He turned and headed into the forest as well, trying his best to be quiet in the darkness as their team went to conceal their skull.

Alex nodded happily, then followed along after. Yin could have been as quiet as he wanted, Alex was not doing much to hide any noises he was making, snapping twigs, tripping over roots, snagging his skeletal toes in the underbrush and nearly falling to the ground. His hands didn't stay in his pockets long as he flailed his arms in an attempt to stay upright again and again.
Often, during a particularly clumsy move, he would burst out laughing, only to receive several glares from cousins and uncles alike, though his sister, sighing, moved up beside him to hold his hand and help guide him along.
"You really need to be more quiet, Alex." She whispered, with a small smile. "You're going to give away where we are."
Alex just shrugged, smiling down happily at her. He knew that soon enough, he'd just be hiding in wait of somebody to come stumbling by for him to tag, and all would be good.
Eventually, the skull was hidden, propped up in a large tree who's branches spanned out in all directions, obscuring the head from view at many different angles. Alex had to admire and approve of the position, before falling back to find a good place to hide. He let Yin choose where he wanted to stop, figuring the weremantis was probably more invested in the game then he was himself.

As the group began to spread out to find good defensive positions, and Miss Isabella left to find her own spot, Yin moved next to Alexander. "So if I capture something and need to lead them to the "prison" where is that? And do I need to hold on to them or will they try to run from me? And can I take two to prison at the same time?" He needed just a bit of clarification before he moved off on his own.
He waited for the zomboil's response before slipping off into the forest. Camouflage, blending in with the surroundings. He could do this. He found a place where some of the foliage would hide him from most directions, but would not hinder him when it came time to capture a zombie. He was also close enough to Alexander that if the zomboil needed help (or he did) he could get to him quickly.
The worst thing about the game was soon evident. Waiting. Yin was good for a few minutes and then he just felt twitchy. to distract himself he began plucking leaves off of the bush near him and shredding them. Yes, very productive.
Finally, finally a figure emerged near him. He tensed, ready to go for the zombie, when another of his team members "captured" the opponent and led them off. Almost immediately two figures emerged from the forest. Apparently the first had just been a distraction. Two, and not close enough to tag both at once. A ghoul and a boil, and the ghoul actually appeared to be closer to Alexander. He glanced toward his friend, trying to make discreet signs of "you get one and I shall get the other" without giving himself away, and waited for them to get within range.
Not within his range though, far closer than that. He could only hope that Alexander could be speedy with this one, because while he could go for the faster one he had no clue which one that was. He thought that he saw motion from Alexander's hiding spot and in a flash he was out of his spot, capturing the one closest to him with not really surprising ease.

Oh, the prison! Alex had glance back towards the other team mates, and noticed that a few of them were lifting rocks and marking the ground with them to show where that would be. Alex pointed towards it "Over there. And once you tag them they should just follow you...though it if it's my brother feel free to carry him. He's such a little cheater sometimes." Alex may have sounded a little bitter at that.
"And if you can catch two at once, then you can do that as well...though I've never seen anybody do that before." He scratched his head in thought, realising that if anybody might be fast enough to do that, it would probably be Yin. Finally, he grinned, and gave the weremantis a wave as he took off to find his own hiding spot. Alex didn't really go far from where he currently was, and he could see Yin fairly easily from where he hunkered down in the ground behind and bush.
What might have seemed a long time to Yin was really not that long at all, and Alex watched as the first prisoner was captured and two more appeared. He glanced towards Yin, nodding his understanding and then waiting for the prime moment.
He then reached down, removed one of the bones from his leg, stood up and whipped it at the nearer of the two targets.
"Tag." He said, happily, as the ghoul groaned.
"ALEX! That's really not fair! They need to make a rule against throwing body parts." She grumbled.
Oh, he recognised that voice. "Hi, Olivia! And I believe the rules are pretty clear that we can tag however we want." He smiled cheerfully.
"Uh..do you mind bringing that bone back over here? I can't really walk without it."

"Oh, and I tend not to lose my leg when playing it."
Yin tried not to glower at Alexander. Really now. That had just been false advertising. As it was...Alexander could just be at the zomghoul's mercy. Though his eyes kept flickering over to where the leg bone had landed. Maybe he should just...no, Olivia was already going to pick it up. He had a job to do so he began leading his prisoner to the marked area. It was slow going, but not quite as bad as walking with Alexander. In fact, he passed the pair as he returned back to his spot. Was Alexander limping a bit? Worry flashed in his eyes before he remembered that the zomboil had done this to himself.
Silently he slipped back in time to see a pair of zombies that had already slipped past where their posts had been. Sneaking up behind them he tapped first one on the back, then quickly moved to touch a ghoul's shoulder carefully, not wanting to claw her on accident. The first was looking behind him, appearing to be slightly confused until he laid eyes on Yin. Then his look just turned incredulous. "Back this way if you please," Yin informed them, heading back to the prison.

Olivia grudgingly picked up Alex's leg bone and brought it over to him, glowering though not without a small smirk on her lips. "Really Alex, I think you should just try and tag somebody the conventional way. Think about how long it's going to take for you to be able to walk properly again."
Alex just shrugged. "I never walk properly. This leg has to be good for something once in a while." He answered, reaching out to take the bone from her and reattach it to his leg. It wasn't as bad as when the whole thing came off, and snapped back into place rather easily. He still had to step a little gingerly, as the bone wasn't exactly tight in place and could fall out again if he jarred it too hard.
Yin passed them on his way back to his hiding spot, and Alex gave him a giant grin, as though he were incredibly pleased with himself, though the look on Yin's face made his smile falter and fade a little. Was Yin upset that Alex had thrown his leg bone at a ghoul? Oh..well...that was a possibility. He might have to try and only tag boils if that was the case.
On his way back to his own post, he came upon Yin, who was leading two more prisoners to the designated area. "Heeey, you did tag two! Good job!" He gave the weremantis a friendly pat on the shoulder as he hunkered back down in his hiding spot and waited for another person to tag.

Yin dropped off his two "prisoners" and made his way back to Alexander. The looks he was getting from the other zombies were mixed, but interesting. Some looked plain aggravated at him, one of his team members dropping off a prisoner was grinning in obvious approval, and there were several murmurs going around the group. It was a bit odd really, and made him feel weird. He really did not want all of the attention on him so as soon as his captives were in prison he began to head back to guard some more. The only zombies he saw were either those on their own team or ones that were captured, so while he was cautious he made it back fairly quickly.
Rather than going back to his original hiding place though he crouched beside Alexander, eyeing him critically. "Will your leg be fine if you continue to break it apart like that? You told me this would not happen in this game," he hissed at him, trying to be quiet. But he was upset, and it was not something that he really understood.

Alex was pleasantly surprised when Yin returned and crouched down beside him. That was, until he was suddenly being interrogated about his leg. He may have looked a bit startled, his eyes wide at Yin's sudden questions. "Uh..well..yes? I mean, it's held together by FEAR. And I'm not breaking it really, just removing a piece then putting it back in place afterwards. Like a puzzle!" He said, smiling suddenly, though it was a small smile. "And it doesn't hurt or anything. Though it sometimes takes a while for the fear to hold...I'm not really sure why that is." He whispered back.
"And...it's not my whole leg..just one small piece." he finished, rather meekly. It was the biggest piece, actually, and somewhat important for actual walking.
"If it bothers you, I can stop. I know it might be hard to understand but...Zombies lose parts all the time, and we just sew them back on or get along without them. I'm lucky to have a leg at all, really. I'm lucky I could have my..my head sewn back on when I was a scareling." He lifted his head a little, suddenly reaching up to run his fingertips over the stitches then shuddering a bit inwardly.
A sudden noise made Alex drop his hand and look to his left, where a shirtless zombie was making his way by, close enough for Alex's hand to whip out and grab at his ankle.
"Gotcha." He said, looking up at one of his many cousins, and standing to escort him back to the prison with one last apologetic glance down towards Yin.

That did not sound natural at all, but the zomboil seemed to think that he was fine with large chunks of himself being removed with ease. Fear made everything make sense though, if Fear could allow him to shift between forms it could hold the leg together. Though when he mentioned that ht sometimes took some time to work properly Yin got slightly concerned again. "No," he said carefully, "you must do what is comfortable to you. I simply am not accustomed to this and..." I do not like it was what he was going to say, but he cut himself off before he got there.
He was slightly distracted and Alexander managed to snag a zomboil that was passing. As soon as Alexander left with his prisoner another zombie came down almost the exact same path. Yin waited for her to pass, focusing on her feet as she passed before tagging her lightly on the back.
He should have thought about what the curly white hair meant when he did so, but he had been so intent on not being seen that it did not click until she was already starting to turn. "L-Lady Van Rotte," he all but stammered, eyes going wide. What had he just done? Sure, she was on the other team, but it was Alexander's mother. "I...I think I am supposed to escort you to the prison Lady Van Rotte," he said with a slight bow, though there was no way that he was going to force her. "I did not realize it was you or I would never have presumed...If you do not wish to go I could..." He might have been freaking out just a bit.

Alex had time to think about Yin's obvious concerns as he shambled along in the bush, leading his cousin to the prisoner area, which was becoming quite...full. Like, ridiculously full. That was a little...unusual, really. Alex had to wonder how the scouts and retrievers were doing on their own team, and if the other team had taken as many prisoners.
He dropped his cousin off, had a few words with the prisoners guards who were making some comments about Yin, and the prisoners who were voicing complaints that he should only be allowed to tag one person every 20 minutes or some nonsense. Alex just shrugged, laughed, and wandered back towards where he left Yin.
------
As for Lady Van Rotte. She was a little...startled to say the least. Normally she would not have so easily been captured but...well, she had a lot of things on her mind. She turned around, pale eyes appraising the weremantis in front of her. This was the first, and possibly only time she was going to be alone with him, and she gave him a warm and reassuring smile.
"Of course, Yǐn Cáng, " She answered him, voice cool, calm, and not at all threatening in the least. Since he was offering to...escort her...she slipped an arm around his. After all, he had offered, and walking in all of this brush, with her skeletal leg? It wasn't easy. "Please, lead the way?" her eyes may have been twinkling a little bit with suppressed amusement at his suddenly being so flustered.
"Have you enjoyed your stay so far, Yǐn Cáng?" she asked, as they moved along. "I have to say, I'll be sad to see you and Alexander leave tomorrow. You will come back and visit again someday, I hope?" For some reason, she had no doubt in her mind that Yin would be back, even after the small hell her daughters had put him through.
"Alex seems to really enjoy being with you.." She said, a little wistfully.

Feeling her cold arm slip into his was not what he had expected. But he quickly squashed any thoughts of flinching away and began to slowly lead her toward the prison, not pushing the pace at all. It was nerve-wracking, and he began wishing that the prison was not so far away. Perhaps he could just release her from being his hostage?
She was asking him about his stay. And that of course meant that...he was not about to tell her how he felt about most of the trip. "You have been a most gracious hostess Lady Van Rotte," he said rather formally. "And Alexander has been very attentive. I have tried several things since I have been here that I had never heard of, from hallowdeer to bruteball. Those experiences were quite pleasant." Unlike almost being forced into the cold torture room by Alexander's sisters, harming ghouls, and finding out that Alexander had had a picture from one of the worst days of Yin's life on his phone.
He had no doubt she would be sad, her oldest son was leaving. But he was honored that she had bothered to include him. And that she was making it seem like she would want him to come back. "If Alexander wishes me to and it would not be too much trouble I would probably enjoy it," he said slowly, not entirely certain as to how he should respond. Would Alexander ever want to put up with him ruining another trip of his? "I enjoy being with your son as well Lady Van Rotte. I believe that you raised a good son." Not that what he said really meant anything, but he still threw it out there.
And speak of the devil. Yin looked up to see the zomboil in question and nodded at him in acknowledgement.

Alex's mom smiled more, pleased with Yin's answers to her questions, even if she knew he was only saying some of them to be polite. "You are always welcome back to our home Yǐn Cáng, and Alexander would be foolish not to ask you to return with him." She replied, as she caught a flash of white messy hair approaching them. She laughed at Yin's final answer, bringing up her free hand to pat his shoulder fondly.
"You are too kind Yǐn Cáng, but sometimes I wonder about him. He could certainly take a few lessons from you on how to treat people." Her smile bore a flash of teeth this time, her eyes full of amusement as she said this just as Alex approached, so he heard every word.
Alex's expression may have soured a little at that, and he shook his head at his mother. "You know you wouldn't want to have me be any other way." He said, as he shuffled past and back to 'the hideout.'
Alex's mom shook her head, her long white curls bouncing. "Such a joy to have him home." She said, attempting to be sarcastic though the warmth in her voice gave her away. Before they reached the prison and Yin could get away from her, she looked over to him, her eyes suddenly quite serious. "You will look after him for me, won't you, Yǐn Cáng? Don't let him get needlessly hurt or do anything too wreckless?"
As they approached the prison, she released Yin so he could go back to wherever he needed to be, giving her team mates an apologetic look. "It seems we didn't give Alexander's friend enough credit when strategizing our form of attack." she said, entering the make shift prison and getting a few agreeing chuckles from her team mates.

Yin could not help but feel slightly embarrassed and ridiculously pleased. She was giving him an open invitation, and while he would not presume to come without a direct invitation from the zomboil himself he could still feel the back of his neck heating up.
As Alexander had just passed them when Yin could not help but remark, "I shall do my best with him Lady Van Rotte." Not that there was anything he really felt needed to be changed, not unless he focused on memories of their fight that he never wished to dwell on.
Yin's gaze flickered toward her when he heard what she had to say. Was this what normal mothers sounded like? So happy about their children, even the boils? But he looked at the wrong time because suddenly she was looking back at him, and even in the dark that was barely illuminated by moonlight he could clearly see the look in her eyes. "You do not need to ask this of me Lady Van Rotte. I shall do my best to protect him." He could not promise that he would see that Alexander would not do something reckless, but at the very least he would try to protect him if the time came. As she left he turned and hurried back toward his hiding spot, slipping into his original hideout.

Alex was crouched down in his spot, patiently waiting for the next zombie to come shambling along when Yin ducked in beside him.
"So..uh..how many prisoners are there exactly? I mean, the other team only has so many members. If we've captured most of their team...we could always go and try to find the skull they've got hidden on their side."
He whispered all of this to Yin, pale eyes flashing eerily in the darkness. It was really getting quite black outside, though the zombies eyes had adjusted as full darkness fell, and his eyes were perhaps a little better in the darkness then some other Halloween denizens eyes might have been.

"I did not count," the mantodae admitted. "But there were quite a few. But...I do not feel right about leaving our post altogether. Perhaps we could find someone to cover the area, or only one of us should go?" He thought about that idea for a minute.
"I am faster, but you know the area better, and would know where the better hiding spots are. So perhaps we should go together. If we encounter a member of the other team we can always tag them and one of us bring them back." He really had no idea about any other specifics of the game, and maybe someone else from their team already had the skull? They might even run into them out there, or be able to help the team members that had gone on ahead.
