Kouki hissed, long and low, in Madison's mind. The Hunter lunged forward, only to cry out as a spine shot up from under the sand, slicing one arm. A sudden paralyzing numbness overtook the limb almost immediately, and she fell to her knees again. Strike! Strike! Kouki demanded, uselessly.

As the smoke began to clear, Deryk soon saw something fall onto the ground not too far aside. It was a human arm. Eyes widened, he stepped back, but Tooley spoke to him to stop.



He wasn't really sure what she was going on about with the FEAR talk, but as he was about to make his move, the spikes struck him. Letting out a cry, he fell back, feeling his muscles lock up.

Otto loosened himself from Eva's grasp, lifting his weapon high in the air.

Otto ran toward the enemy, enough to gain momentum before reeling his arms back and chucking his boomerang toward the enemy.

The boomerang soared through the air, over the beast, and back to Otto. He hissed through gritted teeth at his miss, and caught the weapon, skidding backward a bit from the inertia.

Chama hummed with her flame, engrossing the blade and Dakota completely as he charged himself for his attack.

Her voice was a soft encouragement in his head as he looked at Ryan and started.

She whispered as her flame grew in his palm, a small form of a bird flickered in the flames as it got higher and higher.

His eye's remained focused as he pressed the image of the barrier out before...the ground shifted from the monster, sending his thoughts all over and the flame dissipating just as quickly as it had come.

"s**t!" He swore as he looked at Ryan, "s**t s**t s**t."



"Sorry Ryan, It didn't work out as I wanted." He said apologetically to the boy.

Cass holstered the gun and moved both hands to the gunblade in her other hand, the glow from the hilt bleeding out into the blade to bring a runic glow to the entire thing. In her hands, the weapon seemed to hum underneath her touch and she moved with it towards the giant creature as he grew ever brighter, finally picking part of the large gray shape to slice into it with.

Nicodemus hissed in her hands even as it finished, lingering amounts of light left in the path of the wound inflicted by the hunter even as she stepped back, face serious.

"HOW ARE YOU GUYS HOLDING UP?" she called again, back to Aleister and Minerva.

Eva's intention had been to help Ryan, but it didn't quite turn out that way. Perhaps it was because she still lacked the proper training, but for whatever reason, it seemed as if Chara was unable to use her ability. The former-gorgon was just as confused.

Whatever the case, there was no point in dwelling on that now! Eva crouched by Ryan, hovering over him in concern as she reached up and pushed her mask aside. "Are you okay? Hang in there." She was feeling guilty that she couldn't help heal him, but what she could at least do was stand by, weapon in hand, and try to keep him out of harm's way from any future attacks.

She slid her mask back down, trying to keep Ryan propped upright with one hand while she held Chara tightly in her other hand.

Wilson smiled weakly, not like Ryan could see it though. “I can imagine, but that monster is definitely more dangerous.” While he grasped Ryan’s hand and helped ease him up, Wilson’s other hand gestured toward the decaying bodies around them.

There was a gust of wind and the smoke blew away, revealing only the trainees and the corpses. He frowned, instantly nervous about the monster’s sudden disappearance. “I don’t know.” It was spontaneous. From beneath Ryan the creature sprung and struck him with its spikes. “RYAN!” Panic-stricken, Wilson rushed over. He repeatedly swore under his breath as he kneeled down. While Eva propped him upright with one hand Wilson wrapped a protective arm around Ryan’s shoulders, as if it would help him at all. Ryan looked bad. Really bad. “You’ll be okay, Ryan. Totally okay. Totally okay…” Wilson breathed behind his gasmask, but he didn’t sound too convinced himself.

<MOVE!> Came Puca's voice in Aleister's head which made Aleister jump and actually move quickly a little bit away from where the beast popped up.

"Oi... I'm okay for now..." He called to Cass in response, he was starting to feel tired but he had to keep going when suddenly Puca lit up brighter than his normal ambient glow. "Holy Wow....." He muttered.

The ground shook again; Jordan gritted his teeth and tried to brace himself. Just like an earthquake. Except that earthquakes didn't include bony spines slicing up out of the ground. The spine caught his shoulder and threw him off his feet again; even through Ferros's shield, Jordan could feel the creeping cold trying to spread through his whole body.

Get up! Ferros roared.

I'm trying, I'm goddamn trying, Jordan snarled back.

At first all he could think about was Ryan’s safety. His grip on the boy remained tight as he kept panicking over his friend’s condition. For a couple more moments he kept worrying until Wilson realized that this would keep happening. The monster would keep attacking until it was killed. His attention then shifted onto something else. Gramps.

[You don’t need to say anything more, Wilson. I’m ready.] As he stood up he noticed that his weapon glowed a bright green light. There seemed to be some sort of substance flowing through the wires that connected the cannons to the tank, and as he strained tank, he saw that it too was glowing with some substance.

[Might want to get away from your friends. This’ll be poisonous.] Oh, that was right. Wilson was donning a gasmask for a reason. Obediently, he walked a couple yards away from Ryan and Eva. He pointed both his cannons at the monster. Please don’t miss, he prayed and he fired, each cannon releasing a stream of green gas that was undoubtedly lethal. He took a step back to steady himself. The shot had been bit more powerful than he expected, but at least it had hit its mark.

Aleister had never used Puca's attack so this whole concept was new.... "Oh man... what do I do??" He asked nervously as he almost half expected to have to yell something like they did in pokemon before he threw his pokeball...

<Explain to me what the hell a pokemon is and a pokeball....>

Al paused and looked at his weapon, <Don't worry about it just..... how do... what happens? WHY ARE YOU GLOWING!?>

<Kid just send me flying at that thing, keep a hold of one end please... and let me do the rest... I swear you're going to be a greenhorn the rest of your life....>

Aleister paused and looked at the weapon before taking a breath and running towards the monster with Puca. Throwing the bigger ball end of the weapon and holding tight to the opposite end Aleister watched as Puca seemed to almost engulf himself in flames and hit the monster with his spikes.

"HAHA!!! Alright!" He felt accomplished before he quickly retreated back BEHIND Cass.

<Does that attack have a name?> He'd noticed that the glowing had went back to the normal faint glow that Puca always had.

<.... uhhh.... well I guess you could call it burning blitz.... but idk....... why?>

<So I can yell it out next time...>

<... you're hopeless....> Puca sighed at Aleister hoping he was just joking about the whole yelling out the attack thing.

As the smoke cleared a little bit, Tedan glanced up, then frowned. "Where the hell did the monster go ....?" he muttered aloud. That question was answered far too soon as spines came bursting up out of the sand, one of them coming straight for him.



He started to do exactly that, but it was too late, the spine striking a not-quite-glancing blow on one leg as Tedan dove to the side. Plowing into the sand, he tried to roll back up to his feet, attempting to ignore the pain, but now he found that he couldn't move. Oh hell.
