She was probably going to feel invincible for the next three hours or so. Was that why people kissed people farewell before they went to dangerous places? Magical powers of invincibility rendering?
If so, she was going to have to take advantage of that feeling.
"Okay..." she replied to Marcus in a dazed manner, sort of staring off in the general direction of space. If she'd been more animated, the possibilities of a little heart over her head would have been there.
Hey.
At least now she'd forgotten about that door.
She did, however, turn her 'into space' into 'into space in the direction of what Marcus was doing'. Cassandra blinked a few times (though she still seemed to be a bit on Cloud 9. Sheltered much?), trying to peer over the older boy's arm to peek at his manual as well.
Digging into her own pack, she fished out her own textbook manual to take a look as well. However, on about page three of reading it was obvious from the 'tee hee hee' look on her face she was already staring out into space in a daze again.

"Dude, do you see what they're do - hey!"
Ariane had come up beside him, draping an arm casually over his shoulders. At first he'd thought she was doing that weird girl thing where she was being overly sisterly, but then her hand raised and suddenly all Gale could see was...well, her hand.
"What are you dooooing? I am not too young to look," he protested, attempting to shove her hand aside. Not that he wanted to look (which he didn't), but Ariane treating him like he was four made him slightly grumpy. "It's just weird, okay. I mean, we're in the middle of a fight with creepy zombie things, aren't we?"
Clearly their priorities were skewed.

Before's ears perked at the exchange between Ariane and Gale, "What? What? What's going on? Too young to look at what?" he asked, hands blindly reaching out in an attempt to tug at the Betas he was with. Unfortunately, blindly grabby hands tended to end up touching things and people who may or may not want to be touched.

Once Robert had settled Petra down, he filched in his own backpack and pulled out his bandages. He ripped the package open with his teeth, and looked up for a moment to check on the others.
There was a warm kind of camaraderie growing from the wake of battle, which he was used to seeing - but still nice to watch. Once he was sure no one needed his help more, his bandages started wrapping around Petra's arm without notice or question.
"So." His voice was loud enough for anyone around him to hear, but he didn't look like he was talking to someone specific. His attention was focused on the bandages. "I thought we were here to learn how to be hunters. Not how to be hunted."
They were in some shelter, hiding from some kind of attacking monster. Healing wounds and trying not to get killed. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling more like prey than predator." His dark, rumbling baritone spat out.

"Before," Gale said dryly. "That's my arm you're latching onto."
Then a second later:
"Now you're grabbing my shirt collar - gack can't breatheeeee let go let goooo - "

Jude blinked at Ari-berry's wording and shifted his shoulders not quite getting what she was driving at if anything, "Sure I'd give you my bullets if you really needed them, we're supposed to be working with each other instead of against each other, right? I mean if this was meant for us to kill each other again..."
He'd probably think twice.
The young man started digging around in his pack again before he produced his gun again, "So you want it?"
"We should make up for each other's weaknesses with each other's strength," he heard someone grumbling about being turned into prey. He had to admit that this was a bit against all the things they'd been promised when they joined...Supposedly.
He spied some people looking at their handbooks...Should the others be doing the same?
...Urgh handbooks only got you so far. He'd rather fling his at the heads of the monsters outside, way more useful that way.

Searching fingers immediately released upon Before's realization that he was inadvertently strangling his teammate DDDDX!!! "Sorry! Sorry! But what was Boss talking about being too young to see?" XCCCC Before should be used to being out of the loop since that has always been a problem of his even when he was still Milton. But Should Be didn't always mean Was and with the fact that the rampaging monsters and ghoulies and ******** scary as s**t creatures outside suddenly going silent, Before was sure as ******** didn't want to be out of the loop.

"You're welcome," Madison told Ennea; she sat back, relieved. The other girl had been so badly off that her life could have easily been in danger. And they couldn't lose any of the Phoenixes - or any of the trainees, period.
Still, Robert was right; she flicked her gaze up to him, her heart sinking as he spoke. Their 'leader' had vanished again and left them alone in this place. Surely they weren't doomed to die once more. Surely not. That would be insane...
But they'd died before, somehow. She still didn't know how it was possible; how the 'afterlife' she'd experienced was connected to waking up in that pod, connected to this very moment.
"What should we do now?" Madison asked the room in general, raising her voice; it was a little shaky, but not too bad. "If we stay in here..." She didn't finish the sentence. The threat was obvious. The threat in leaving was just as clear.
Why did they only have really icky choices?!

"I'll take a look at it later and give it better treatment than just a regular bandage, okay?" Candace told Ariane, eyeing the wrapped arm quietly. It looked ugly, and the wrapping itself just would not do. Some of these people needed real medical attention, not just shoddy bandage wrappings. Candace's had been perfect! But everyone else? They left a little to be desired. Sigh. But she was glad to see everyone was using their bandages for those who needed it, glancing toward the guy Ariane had been calling Judy. "I don't think we're trapped just...we need some kind of game plan before we--" What the hell?! Candace stopped abruptly when she caught Cassandra and one of the guys kissing, unsure how to feel about that. Disgusted? No, it was just a kiss. But..but...seriously?! "You two couldn't have found a better time to do that? Seriously?" AUGH!
Candace rolled her eyes and shook her head, rubbing at her head and turning her somewhat irritated gaze to Robert. He made very, very good points. She frowned and rest her hands on her hips, glancing behind her at the door they had yet to open. It was still completely silent outside. "Maybe it's like the test from before. Except this time the goal isn't to try to kill everyone in sight." She mused, stepping closer to the door. "We all have weapons, right? And we're all good to fight again? No self respecting hunter would just lay around and hide in some shack like a scared child. We need to take risks, and we need to kick a**, right?" Candace flashed them all a cocky grin, balling one of her hands into a fist and giving it a firm shake. "They just surprised us is all! But now that we've seen what they're like we can kill them! We've got guns and...uh...baseball bats..." Whose idea was it that a baseball bat was a good idea? They needed to be shot. Repeatedly.
Another look was given to the door and her grin widened, walking over and putting her hand on the handle of the door. She didn't open it just yet, first turning to everyone else in the group. The bandages were helping, some of them were looking slightly better. "The big guy's right!" No offense, Robert. She just couldn't remember your name right this second. "We're learning to be hunters. This is a test. I'll be damned if I'm going to let them kick my a** into a corner!"
Don't ask her why she was suddenly becoming some motivational speaker. It was most likely her attempt at trying to make up for what she did during the test. Sort of. Somewhat. Only slightly, really. She paused when she noticed some people were looking through handbooks, frowning and taking off her pack. She dropkicked it across the room like a football, a bit dramatic but she was trying to make a point. It pained her to kick a book, not just because it actually hurt but because it..it was a book that was meant to help them learn! But she needed to get out of here. They needed to get out of here. This wasn't the time for kissing! For freaking out over kissing! It...it wasn't...ugh. As painful as this was for her to say...
In her head she was hearing the ticking of Cael's watch again from that room, the room filled with blood and bodies. The corner of her eye twitched a bit at the memory, but she pressed on. "Do you seriously think whatever we're hunting is going to be like 'OH? You need to sit a moment and read up on what I am? Okay cool! I'll just sit over here and catch up on my soaps then'?! Hell no!"

"Well, let's see," Gale said, once he could breathe properly again. "There's this one girl with dark skin and that other dude who said he was a former Beta mackin' on each other and Boss is trying to keep me from seeing it. Not that I want to see it," he said dryly, shaking his head. "But I'm not too young for it, either," Gale added with a pointed stare at Ariane.
"Oh, and that other girl - Candace," he said, eying the person in question with a slightly bemused expression. "She just kicked her bag or something across the room."
There was a long pause. Then Gale asked conversationally "If we're going to be hunters, can we open the door yet? I'm ready to kick some more a**."
Talk about skewed priorities.

"There are two people kissing each other's faces off, Before," She explained calmly as she let Gale go, laughing before adding, "Not literally though, so don't freak out~"
She grinned at Jude, chuckling at him before grabbing his gun, emptying it so that there were only 5 bullets left inside, before returning it to him, "Thanks Judy~" She then took out her own gun and loaded it, smiling as she heard a satisfying 'click'. She also took out Before's gun, sliding it into her skirt pocket.
Looking at Robert, then at Candace, her expression darkened slightly as she frowned; they do make sense. Lots of sense. She paused before grinning, her grip on the back strap tightening, "Very good points. We passed that first test, out of so many people-" She was referring to the large number of unopened pods in the room they woke up in, "-So I'm sure this is like... An initiation of some sorts. They've been rather unorthodox in their teaching and testing methods so far anyway. Who's to say this is not just phase 2? Anyway, I had enough studying to last me a lifetime before I came here..."
Another pause, followed by a glare in Gale's direction, "Do not try to act tough and be a hero." She narrowed her eyes, "That door will be opened soon because I agree - I do not like being trapped in here. We might be rushed... But I like to do it in such a way that we're not being raped by them. No. More. Repeats. Of. What. Happened. Just. Now. Don't be cocky, Gale."
She was referring to the incident where he was grabbed... Where several people got injured because of him, and it could happen again if they are careless. Then again, they might just do it again, whether they are alert or not. Ugh.

The glare that Ariane gave him was both unexpected and slightly terrifying. Gale blinked up at the older girl, his eyes wide, and unconsciously he took a step back away from her. This wasn't the brightest idea, as it only sent a painful twinge reverberating up and down his left leg, and Gale couldn't stop the flinch that flitted across his face. His startled expression, however, was rapidly replaced by a scowl.
"I'm not being cocky!" he snapped. "And I'm not trying to 'act tough and be a hero!' I can fight, Ariane! I'm not some helpless kid! Don't you think I don't want a repeat of what just happened? Don't you think I know we're like fish in a barrel just waiting to be shot?"
He knew she had a point; and a good point at that (he hated that she was right and that he knew she was right), but that was what was making this situation so hard. His throat felt raw, and he swallowed hard, suppressing the urge to shout.
"I want to help," Gale managed to get out finally, determination and frustration both clearly evident in his voice. "I want to do something!"
His voice lowered an octave, chastised. "I just...want to help, okay?" came the hoarse, mumbled reply, and Gale pushed his dirt and blood streaked hair away from his slightly reddened face, refusing to look at Ariane (he was suddenly finding the floor very very interesting).

"I'm not telling you not to fight," She replied, her expression softening just a little (so very subtly), although she was still frown-glaring, "You earned the right to stand here, after all... I'm just saying a little caution will help, that's all~ You just sounded way too eager to rush into a situation we don't really know much about..." She paused, then reached out to ruffle his hair again as she shrugged, "Heh, it sucks to feel helpless, eh?"

"Enough, you two." Candace said sternly, though she did not raise her voice. Her gaze set on Ariane and Gale, arms crossed and eyes narrowed. They were bickering like children...one of them was basically a child! "We're not here to fight each other. Quit acting like children. You can do those things later." But now? When there may or may not have been monsters waiting to kill them? No. Now was not the time.
Even if there was nothing out there they needed to be prepared! Candace walked across the room again to retrieve her pack, getting the gun out of it and slinging the bag over her shoulder. "If there is anyone who does not want me to open this door yet speak now or forever hold your peace."

When the door began to tremble, Hanna snatched the gun from Scott's hand and leveled it ahead of her, arms steady even as her knees shook. Each bang of the door brought a pulse of shock through Hanna. But after the island, she was less sensitive to her own fears. Back in Maryland, she had loved feeling afraid, feeling her own adrenaline pulsing in her veins. Did it help her now? She had no idea. She just didn't want that door to open.
In the ensuing silence, Hanna held her position, afraid to lower her gun. She stayed like that for awhile, only relenting when the others seemed too. They had a break in whatever test this was. Hanna intended to make use of it. She slipped her backpack from her shoulders and pulled the bat out. She had proven to be terrible with it.
Walking over to Jordan, Hanna gave him her bat and said, "I'm sure you're better with this than I am." Madison was helping Ennea, which was good. If this wasn't over yet, then they needed everyone to be at full strength. Her bandages had been given away, her bat too. Apparently Hanna was putting all of her faith in the gun and her own intuition.
Her gaze moved back to the door. Silence. That couldn't be good. They wouldn't just pound on it and then go about their merry ways. Something had to be brewing out there, something bad. And where was Caelius? Hanna got the seriously we are srs bsns thing, but what was the point of killing them, awakening them, and then killing them again. How many times would Deus Ex make Hanna face her own mortality?
As the others tended to each other and checked on the injured, Hanna stood staring at the door. The only thing that pulled her attention was the vague smack of a kiss. Hanna turned to stare dumbly at Cassandra and another Hunter whose name escaped her locking lips.
What.
Moving away from the strange kissing couple, Hanna retreated to Scott and Scarlett. People had certainly splintered into groups, and Hanna far preferred the logical, wise-cracking ones to the flailers and the romantics. "I don't like this," she said. "They know we're here. It's not like they'll just give up. They have to be planning something, corpse or not. Do corpses have attack strategy? I don't know." She felt so out of her element.
Across the room, Hanna watched the hunter who had been with Cassandra opening a book. A book? "The manual!" she said suddenly, taking a cue from him. Pulling her backpack off again, Hanna pulled out the manual that had come with their packs and began to search it for usefulness just like the other hunter and Cassandra were doing.
Candace might not care about the book, but Hanna thought reading it was more useful than talking loudly, kissing, or whining. "Don't open it yet," Hanna said to Candace suddenly. "Our situation is not changing in the next two minutes. We will still be trapped in a box whether you open it now or later." Her grip tightened on the edge of the manual. "Give us a chance to at least try to find something useful in here. Those things aren't human, right? Well maybe they have some weakness or some something and maybe this book can do something other than be a dead weight in my bag. Train your weapons on the door, look for another escape, whatever. But at least give us a chance to try getting some knowledge." Golden eyes moved to Cassandra and the other hunter reading. "Did you guys find anything yet?"
Knowledge is power!
