After scribbling down something that vaguely resembled Rin Alder but looked as though it actually said something along the lines of Rom Afbam, Gale nodded to the newest trainee and watched as she disappeared from the room, giving him what might have been a smirk.

One last pod. Gale swiveled to face it, idly tapping a pen on the clipboard in his hand as he waited.

And waited...

And then -

Hissssssssssss.

The lid to the last pod was opening, a whirring, beeping noise emitting from the panel on the side. There was a loud click as the top swung away, and then a young man came stumbling out, looking slightly dazed.

"Good morning," said Gale, looking completely nonplussed. "Name, please? I am Gale Gentry, and welcome to Deus Ex Machina. Once you've given me your name, please head to Classroom 2c down the hall and to your left."

( you can probably just handwave Jason going to the meeting, since it was assumed they were all there)

Good morning? was it really morning outside? Jason couldn't tell. And for a few seconds, he couldn't remember what his name was either.

"...umm..." He placed a hand on his head. He faintly recalled someone calling him eta-something, but that didn't sound right...No, wait, he remembered! His name was...

"Jason Kenneth" he said looking a little relived, then went back to being confused again. He was supposed to go to a classroom? Why did he need to go there? And what was 'Deus Ex Machina"? He had plenty of questions, but decided that if they would be answered, then the best place to go would be to Classroom 2c as he had been directed to.

The room:

At first, everything is dull.

Then, the senses assault all at once, a strange hiss, the feeling of stale, clammy air hitting skin, strange noises, and the light, painfully bright.

It takes a good few minutes to adjust to the surroundings.

The only thing odd about the room itself were the strange assortment of man-sized pods, strange oval, futuristic even creations covered in glowing runes. Most of them remain closed, some of them have stopped glowing.

Everything is still a blur, vague memories closing in on each other. A trial, a word, Hunters, fighting, shadows, and then darkness. Death.

Nothing made sense.

((OOC: PLEASE ONLY POST HERE IF YOU HAVE BEEN PROMPTED BY A GM TO "WAKE UP". - Please post a small rp post with your character's reactions before exiting out, please gm either a Hunter NPC (aka: you write yourself an NPC talking to you about heading to The Cove, and that's about it, they are VAGUE AND MYSTERIOUS OKAY), or collaborate with ANY existing enrolled Hunter to lead you there. Once you have posted your weapons solo you are free to rp!
- It is assumed your character woke up, the last thing they experienced being the TRAINEE TRIALS where candidates were eliminated before becoming trainees. Everything else feels blurry... ))
- for a quick tour be sure to check out this guide, which also describes some of the places your trainee will see after awakening.

Gamma 8 stumbled out of the open pod, back into the light. How was this... but she had just...? Her last memory was holding another's hand, stepping into the light... she had been certain she was dead, but now?

The short young woman squinted into the room and twisted her lip. What in the world had gone on? Battling, death, explosions... and this room? Pods, everywhere, she didn't remember a single one of them. It looked like something out of a scifi movie, and one of the new ones with the fancy CGI. There was no way that this was real life. Was this... heaven? She looked down and smoothed her hands down her shirt. No more gas mask, no more olive-colored suit...

Ever so confused, the Gamma looked around the room for any sign of what was going on. This was all so... big. So confusing.

Nothing made sense. Not even the woman standing near the exit of the room, a smile playing on her lips as she hummed to herself, looking at the text on her phone; she never really had to do this before, and since the confirmed death of one 'Dean', she never really paid attention to new arrivals anymore... However, life goes on, and going to the pod room no longer made her as sad as before.

As the pods opened and the new arrivals awoke, she stayed quiet, letting them get used to the surroundings; she knew that feeling... Waking up after sleeping for so long was disorientating, and it must be worse if they had been asleep for much longer than just a week or two.

When they appeared more capable of understanding her, she grinned and wriggled her fingers at them in a sort of wave, "Morning~ Slept well, I hope? Come on... Grab your balls, metaphorical or otherwise, because we'll be leaving soon."

She was going to vomit.

Granted, the cool whoosh of stale air helped tamp down the nausea that threatened to roll over Sasha's body, but it wasn't quite enough. Not paired with the sudden glare of bright lights and the murky memories that wafted about in her mind. Everything was so hazy, almost gauzy. The vaguest memories that she could grasp hold of were of the trials she'd been put through... so much fighting, so much loss. It had taken its toll on the girl, and death had been almost a blessing.

Death.

Before she let her thoughts linger on that single thought, Sasha heard the voice of a woman giving an order - to her? That hopeful surge snapped Sasha into action, immediately quashing all threats of vomiting everywhere. Opening her eyes just a bit, Sasha peered around the room. It was so bright. Too bright. Even still, Sasha pushed herself out of the pod, hesitantly trying out her legs. Wobbly but passable. Turning her attention to the woman that waved, Sasha cleared her throat and made an attempt to speak.

"Where are ... where are we going?"

The sound of boot-clad feet scuffling towards the Cove's sole entrance/exit was accompanied by a panci-stricken: "Oh shi-oh shi- oh shi-!!! I'm not too late am Iayeeeee!!!" /)@A@/)!!!!

The brunette Misty came crashing through the doorway, right smack into Ariane. Several small, multi-colored, plastic bags went soaring into the air from the impact. Apparently, Before was just finishing up with his kitchen duties when he got a message to help oversee some newly awakened trainees. The Misty let out a yelp and dove to catch what was his welcoming gifts. Most landed back in his arms. "Gotcha!! Hi there! Anyone hungreeee-" From the Cove's floor, Before looked up and saw Ariane. DDDDDD8!!! And without another word, he promptly tried to sneak out of the Cove.

The hiss was what woke the man known as William Reid up before all else, jolting him out of his groggy sleep, playing on old instincts that made him jerk his whole body in surprise. His first assumption was he'd fallen asleep drunk on someone's couch and they were no doubt doing something humiliating to him for doing so, like spraying whipped cream on his face. He was going to have to break some faces.

But this hazy impression quickly faded as he squinted in the light, dazed and dazzled as he struggled to make sense of it all. As vision returned he realised he most certainly wasn't in anyone's house. Nor was he anywhere he recognised, it was like something out of science fiction, a nightmare Matrix all around him. Memories of the matrix prompted him to raise a hand to his head, he didn't want to be a freckled baldy, and it was to his relief that he still retained his hair, though no doubt still ginger. He could recall now as memories returned in fits and bursts, the strange offer he'd been made, the chance to get out of his shithole of a life, an escape, a chance to prove himself. He could vaguely remember the trial too, the strangeness of it all. It was just the gap between trial and waking that to him was still a huge mystery.

He sat up and shook his head, trying to clear the haze of dreams, memories and for some reason movies that had decided to choose now to make themselves known, looking around at the voices he'd heard, giving the woman by the exit a decidedly venomous look.

Rep was /not/ a morning person and morning was whenever he woke up.

As if his current confusion and stiffness was all her fault, he sulkily swung his legs over the pod and tenatively tried to get to his feet, still looking like a wild animal confused by anaesthetic, making every attempt to look lean and threatening but instead looking comically undignified instead. He had to steady himself with a hand as he wavered, the room spinning around him in a show of staggering vertigo that made his stomach ******** hell." he finally stammered, just in time for what he mentally labelled as another perky morning person to scurry in and assault his ears, making him cringe. And oh god food. He was certainly hungry but the last thing he wanted to do right now was eat with his stomach doing flip after flip after flip.

He rubbed his temples "Awright, awright. Good morning." he resignedly stated, anything for an easy life, addressing two of the pressing questions right after. "Totally not hungry, and where are we going?"

Ariane actually managed to catch herself before she fell, turning to glare at the person who had collided into her. Realizing that it was Before, she frowned, eyeing the plastic bags in his arms as well as some of the ones that he had failed to catch, now on the floor.

"Before. Get up and please pick those off the floor," She pinched the bridge of her nose, sighing before turning to face the newest trainees. She still appeared to be in a relatively good mood, but she also appeared to be mildly annoyed at the way Before was acting around her... Which, in her opinion, was pretty stupid; it made him even more unpredictable than usual.

"Oh, we'll just be heading somewhere where someone will brief you on your new roles and responsibilities, and if you're lucky, answer some of your questions," She grinned, stroking her chin thoughtfully; she had a feeling that nobody would be answering too many questions though, "I am Ariane, and I would like to welcome to the facility known as Deus Ex Machina. May I have your names please? I believe that there are supposed to be... One more of you."

Right, she had almost forgotten about collecting information, not that she was about to admit it.

Picking up a pen and clipboard - oh wow, what was with that atrocious handwriting?! - from a desk near one of the pods, she jotted down the date and time before looking at the newcomers expectantlty, waiting for them to introduce themselves, "You are here because of a decision you had made in your past. Don't worry too much about it though, I'm sure it'll all make a lot more sense later on!"

When the possibility for escape was no longer an option, the Misty gulped and promptly clamped his mouth shut. Before's lips pressed together into a tight line during the brief moment he held Ariane's attention, doing his best not to utter a sound or make any gesture that the Deather might find the least bit annoying. Other than his presence, that is. A wordless nod and the crinkle of the few remaining plastic bags later, Before had managed to collect what was his "welcoming" presents.

To the dude who turned down his cookies, Before just fixed visibly disappointed teal eyes at him then let his gaze dart down to his boots. The bottle-cap brooch pinned to his coat displayed a disapproving frown >8/ whether it was directed at the newly awakened trainee or the pin-wearer was up for debate.

There were supposed to be four new-faces, according to Ariane. Huh. Before thought there would be more of them but that's fine! He could always offer the leftover bags to some of the Lifer lab techs. As the female Deather began to give the run-down to those that were already out of their pods, Before just gave a friendly smile and a tilt of his head. He'd wave but... yeah, hands full of cookies. Freshly made cookies at that. And no Julientervention with these ones.

He was, however, obviously keeping his distance with Ariane.

Before? Gamma Eight knew that name. She turned first to the woman who seemed to be in charge here, an furrowed her brow. She had, at on point, had a name. After losing several dozen comrades and battling flaming horses and each other, something had changed in her. She wasn't that girl any more.

She remembered a voice, some comfort as they approached the light.

"Emma," the woman offered, and that was that. No surname, nothing else. Just 'Emma'. She turned then to Before and offered him a little smile. Had she met him, or just heard of him? Beta Four, likely... if he was awake and settled in... how long had she been asleep? It felt like yesterday, but how long had it really been since the massacre?

Sasha's first instinct when she saw those bags tumble to the floor was to jerk forward in an attempt to help. Her body, on the other hand, was simply not interested in doing so. With a determined look, Sasha wibbled on her feet before thinking better of any attempts at moving forward. Her attention was soon captured once more by the woman named Ariane.

After politely waiting for her turn, Sasha cleared her throat again before responding to Ariane's question.

"Sasha. Belrose, Sasha Belrose."

That finished, Sasha went back to staring at Before. What a strange name. She offered him a smile.

Rep listened to Ariane with what appeared to be indifference, making limited eye contact and still trying to maintain his facade that no he wasn't ruffled at all by waking up in this place, that his current wobbling unsteadily was completely intentional and that he didn't need any briefing or being brought up to speed. He wasn't cutting an even slightly convincing picture though, looking more dazed than aloof and more pitiful than impressive.

He shrugged and stated gruffly. "William Reid. Call me Rep though." it was less a request and more a demand, he liked to provide the nickname lest people went anywhere near the obvious nickname for a man unfotunately titled something as uppity and English as William. At least he didn't see anything wrong with Before's name, perhaps the guy was equally unfortunate to have been cursed with a badly shortened name. Maybe he was a Richard.

As soon as he had his balance reliably enough to let go of his handhold, he crossed his arms standoffishly. Crossing his arms made him feel less like a toddler.

"Emma, Sasha Belrose, William Reid... Rep," She sounded it out, writing down the names of the newest recruits before taking out her phone, checking the display for any news, "Hmmm, the higher-ups seem to be slower than usual today... Well, we still need to wait for one more, anyway."

Probably because it was a small group.

His first two steps were unsteady, almost shamefully wobbled at the knees. Elliot stood still, hand pressed against one of those metal...pods... for support. His mind was a mess, everything hazy and misted over. When he reached out, trying to figure out what had happened, Elliot couldn't summon many concrete memories.

The man couldn't remember much, he remembered, trials, fighting, the taste of dust and dirt, but beyond that, not much else. Whatever. The past was the past. When his vision cleared, he stood up. Looking around, Elliot saw that there were a few people standing around in the dank room.

"Waiting for me?"

He flashed a smile. He hadn't really been sure what would happen after he had agreed to come. This was certainly living up and surpassing his expectations.
