The guy leaning on the traffic light is dressed up to look like the kid in Death Note, and as you can see, he's writing in his notebook.

Death Note = best anime/manga ever
wish i had a deathnote....i'd make like 20 bucks or something....that'd be awesome.

The Nerdbot Death Note = best anime/manga ever
wish i had a deathnote....i'd make like 20 bucks or something....that'd be awesome. Hardly, there's no doubting Death Note is a good anime but it no way qualifies as the best. It doesn't even come close to anything Ghost in the Shell related or the pure awesome that is Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 (and by extension the original BGC)

...so like, is he recording the names of someone who died or something, or is the fact that he wrote it into the book the reason why they died?

...so like, is he recording the names of someone who died or something, or is the fact that he wrote it into the book the reason why they died?That one. He basically writes a name in the book, and that person dies. He can leave it blank, and they die of a heart attack, or he can write a scenario, which if at all possible, they will act out before dying.

Well, I gave up on it after L died, but basically, yeah. He kills criminals and stuff, then a famous detective starts looking for him, and it becomes more of a cat and mouse while he evades the detective while still killing people.

It doesn't even come close to anything Ghost in the Shell related or the pure awesome that is Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 (and by extension the original BGC) I don't know, I've only seen a couple of Ghost in the shell episodes, So I might not get it, But it seems far to overly complicated and annoying. I've never watched, nor even heard of Bubblegum Crisis...
