*waves at Twila* I should have posted here earlier >.>
Anyway, I'm Ana, but if you'd like, you can call me Bee ^.^ I just turned 21, and have been following Buddhism since I was about 17 years old. I was always a pessimistic type of person, but thanks to Buddhism I'm learning to understand the world and embrace the positive rather than resent the negative. After my mom got cancer, I took up Buddhism- and have never looked back.
I constantly visit the temples my city has to offer, but have yet to decide which sect to go into.

It's been a while since I've done this sort of thing. I just wanted to say hello and that, like Goddess Bee, I took up general Buddhism in my teens, and like her I've not really chosen a major sect yet. The grounded, calm nature and simplicity of Zen has always appealed to me most, though I've had few opportunities to really visit any particular temples in order to better understand the other sects. I do, however, intend to put together a small shrine in my new apartment once I resume college (which is very soon). A small step, but one I'll enjoy a great deal.
Anyway, I've only had books and my dad in terms of information about Buddhism in general, so hopefully I'll be able to learn a lot from the other members on this forum and contribute positively when I have anything to say. I'm happy to have been allowed to join, and look forward to my time amongst all of you.

I'm Dementia. I've only fairly recently become extremely interested in Buddhism, particularly Mahayan, I think? (Otherwise known as Zen? I'm still all very new to this). I turned to Buddhism because while my life around me was falling to pieces, I felt like maybe if I could work on myself, I could work on my surroundings. And that's when I discovered that Buddhism is a lot like that idea, on a very basic level. So, I've been doing a lot of research on my own, but I feel like I would learn best by being able to interact with other members and followers and therefore make my final decision (:

My name is Hayden, I have been interested in Buddhism for a few years but have just recently been researching and thinking of converting recently. I'm hoping to become a very faithful Buddhist.
I live on the East Coast of the US. I don't give out to much of my personal info which, to me, includes facts of where I live.
I'm a very shy person and once I get to know you I'm still very quiet. I play sports and musical instruments. I'm very friendly and if you want a new friend and someone to talk to I'm on.. a lot so add me.

My name's Heidi. I've been a Buddhist about 15 years. I became a Buddhist after my husband died leaving me with 2 young children to raise alone ... I was miserable and depressed and looked for a solution.
I wasn't raised in any church - my mother was (and still is) an agnostic with contempt for organized religion. I looked into Wicca, but it wasn't a good fit. Buddhism just clicked and felt true to me. However I struggle with meditation because I have ADD! wink

Konnichiwa. My name is Arashii, and I'm Christian. I'm only interested in Buddhism, and I would like to make Buddhist friends. In my opinion, I believe that Buddhism and Christianty's teachings are similar to each other. Both carry the same message, except in different words. Please do not flame me as it is only my opinion, Thank you.

Hello, I'm Robert. Some of you might recognize me from M&R. Well I'm curious about Buddhism. I'm not looking to convert seeing as I'm already called to be a Gnostic but I would like to learn more about this religion I'm basically ignorant of and about.
Edit: Thanks for approving me Byaggha

Dharma-bee: I am sorry to hear about your husband's passing, but perhaps in the next life, you will find each other again. I hope Buddhism gives you what you need. Welcome, my friend. Namaste.
Arashii: Haha, this is one guild where you do not have to worry about being flamed. We are very tolerant and understanding people. I, too, believe that Buddhism and Christianity have a lot of the same moral at their cores. As far as most of the people I know, I am the most Christian person, yet I don't even follow that religion! lol Welcome, my friend. Namaste.
Robert: There's no reason to try to undertake Buddhism if you don't even know about it yet, anyway. If you were to follow it with no knowledge, that wouldn't even just be blind-faith, that would actually be impossible. lol I, too, used to be Agnostic, then Atheist, but Buddhism was a religion I always respected (since there is no deity in most followings of Buddhism). I found myself really looking for some direction after my best friend's mom started getting me into a lot of spirituality. I began meditating, which kind of lead me to it. She bought me a pendant, which was a Dragon and a Phoenix and was part of the company's "Siddhartha" collection. A little research and some meditation later and I became a Buddhist! But I digress, you don't have to be a Buddhist to follow the morals and whatnot. You can practice the Dharma and still be as Gnostic as you want. lol Welcome, my friend. Namaste.
