The two arrived at the ballroom. "And it would seem the festivities have begun. Wunderbar!"

Ciro simply smiled at everything that was happening, having a great time. "I wonder where those two have gone to... meh. This is more important. And fun."

Val saw her whisper something to Ciro and was quick to pick up what was going on.

heh. looks like she's going to replenish herself. he thought. following that thought he realized he realy does need to control himself better.

"well, Sam, I'd better get ready. I've business to attend to. good luck with your little production tomorrow night." he teased.

"don't do that!" whispered Samuel, almost hissing. "you know it creeps me out when you go all C.I.A. on me."

Val laughed out loud at his friend's reaction, always fond of his ability to get information without difficulty. he rose from his chair and walked back to his room to gather his required things, smirking.

Scarlet took Ciro to a small cozy parlor. In the corner, paneled with the same mahogany finish as the rest of the furniture, was a small fridge. Scarlet pulled out two units of chilled whole blood.

"It's not as good as the fresh stuff," she sighed wistfully as she offered one to Ciro, "But so many of my donors have already been tapped--and I had to dismiss one last night. It's time I got in a few more since I have to feed you and Val and Sam for the foreseeable future. At least this slakes the thirst a little."

Devonte stood in the ballroom, watching the festivities with some slight contentment. Everything was going smoothly, and as soon as Scarlet left with her guests, the castle would return to its familiar and stoic atmosphere. At least, until she returned. He'd seen Scarlet's and Val's little display, of course, and could hear the gossipy whispers, but made no attempt to contain them. Scarlet would take care of any resulting gossip in her own unique way.

He had also noticed that Lord Markius and Lady Brittiana had abruptly left, and felt certain that someone from the Red Court or the Black Court (or both) had taken exception to their plans. No matter how Markius had boasted about killing off the Van Halen family, there were methods employed by the Courts that no vampire could withstand. Scarlet was a special case, her actions, while unorthodox, never broke with the vampiric laws of either Court, and so long as she continued to abide by their race's governments, she would not have any trouble. Or so Devonte fervently hoped. As much as he griped about his sister, he did not want to see her fry in the morning sun.

"You're right, it's not as good as fresh, but it does satisfy," Ciro commented after a taste. "When do we leave tomorrow?"

"If people watching is rude, I've made a career out of offending people," Alfons interjected into the conversation. "I always observe the way people act. It allows one to find the best way to sell a product to a person." He extended a hand toward Val. "Alfons Goldschmidt III at your service. I believe you met one of my friends last night."

Dmitri chomped on a cigar he got from a guest and lit it. "Ei boss zis is good cigar you should..." he stopped, looked around, and continued, "Vhere did zat svoloch go?" He's lost track of Alfons in all the fun.

teh Elf laughed, grateful for the assistance in breaking Devonte's stoic expression. he took the offered hand.

"Valtheir Edonil'Barra" he said, wondering if the name would be familiar or not to the german man. his family's reputation has continued to grow, even without him.

"it's a pleasure to meet you, Alfons. if I recall, the Goldschmits were highly decorated. my distant family woud no doubt know your grandfather."

Scarlet finished her unit of blood and licked her lips. "Ah, well, we shall have a fresh drink once we get to Japan. Let's go get changed."

She tossed the plastic bag in the trash can and lead the way out of the parlor and through several secret corridors to her suite. She slipped out of her gown and pulled out some supple black leather pants and a matching bodice. The skin-tight leather accented every curve.

"Your traveling clothes should be in your room," she told him as she bound each arm in studded leather gauntlets. "Don't be afraid to put on a little armor--the dragons bite."
