"Well damn...I thought you all had managed to hold onto your weap-" Remus was cut off as it came into focus with his optics as well. He wasn't sure if what he was seeing was real. In fact, he thought there was a bug somewhere in his system.

James blinked several times. "Mr. Ackley?"
Kaok, her system now free of the chemical that had paralyzed her briefly, was just standing again when the elf chose to say that. And promptly almost fell over again.
At James' calling his name, the dead man came out from under the counter he'd been hiding beneath, and just stood there a moment.
"Kaok."

Emma had retreated, trying to make herself invisible by hiding behind the metal giant that was Remus, her heartbeat pounding in her ears as she felt the magic around the dead man. Her blood seemed to have frozen in her veins, and she nearly drew blood from the force with which she bit her lip.
What she felt from the other side of her link wasn't helping either.

Remus thought a bolt had come loose in his throat and fallen into his stomach. He helped Kaok stay steady until she got her her balance back again. The Imperator said nothing. What could he say? Remus braced himself for another possible storm.

"William." I wasn't insane.
"Kaok."
"You've already said that."
"... oh."
And this was the point at which the Faun approached him, slowly at first but eventually rushing into a vague sort of hugging motion. Even without seeing her face, it was quite obvious that she was crying. The two began to talk in Greek to each other, and James backed up a little to give them space.
He took this time to comfort Chris.
If the others were to look around the basement at all, one of the bodies in the lab would appear to be the missing Dr. Greene from the lab. It wouldn't be altogether unlikely for her to have had the keys to out of the basement on her person.

Whimpering softy until she managed to speak.

It was Emma who slipped the keys from the dead woman, keeping herself busy. However, she did not alert the rest of the group, instead turning them over and over in her still-trembling hands.

The Imperator stood idly by, unsure of what to do at this point. He didn't want to break up the reunion, but there wasn't much other action he could take at that particular moment. Perhaps one of the nobles had a plan.

Both soldiers managed to bring themselves back into the situation they were in eventually.
"You need to get out of here." The man said to the group, after drying his eyes and pretending as if he'd never cried at all. "Aside from the method in which you do that, there's nothing to say that the gas out there has cleared. And - beyond even that - Evros isn't going to let you just walk out."

Emma avoided Ackley's eyes even as she spoke. "I can get us out, sir." The honorific dangled awkwardly at the end of her phrase as she cast her eyes back downward.
She was maintaining wards that had fallen a few moments ago; Hrothbert's wards against technology. The enchantress was doing the magical equivalent of holding back a flood. The effort barely showed on her features, but it would be clear to anybody with an ounce of magic that she was exerting herself.

"Well then let's not spare another moment. If there's a way out, then we should all take it as soon as possible before anything else happens." the Imperator said in a rather hurried way.
Remus could tell that something was up with the nobles when static began to affect his optics and audio receptors.

"William's already said, there's no guarantee that the gas has cleared up." James shook his head - whilst discreetly giving the Enchantress help keeping those wards up.
Mr. Ackley thought for a moment.
"I'll see for you. Lady Emma, the keys if you please?"
