"...Ow." Scribbler gingerly pulled the arrows out of her ribs, snapping them and dropping them in the snow. Ink plugged the hole, preventing her from leaking and suturing what it could. "...The cabins, then?"
[so if you win a battle the entirety of your roll is subtracted from a boss-type enemy's score, or is it the difference?]

Remus and guards activated their self repair systems that released several working nanites that repaired the cracks in their armor, and reconnected severed wiring. Unfortunately, they couldn't fix Remus' torn outer flesh. His face was ghastly and his gunmetal skull and jawbone could be seen on one side of his face.

There was another sound though it was far off. A howling sound that sounding like singing and crying at the same time.
[[It works the same way your characters health system does, though if you get a 100 it's an instant win.]]

Emma nodded mutely, sending a healing spell in Scribbler's direction. A sense of hopelessness came upon her; she found a new magic only to discover that she barely knew how to control it.
She conjured a thick cloak and wrapped it around her slender frame, soldiering on, arm in arm with her Lord.
"The cabins indeed."

As the trio approached the cabins there was a sign written in a language unknown to them. A goblin lumbered over curiously he was thickly wrapped in woolen clothing, and caps.
"Вы потеряны?" The goblin asked, in Russian."Не волнуйтесь о крике волка" (Are you lost?) (Do not worry about the how of the wolf)
The town was hosting, and funding the Order Of Merging. Though they did not know the Order's true goals, or had ever seen a human before. Being in the Wastes they were ignorant of most of the news in the Darkling world.
The Darkling world had a strange magic. Whatever the language of that area was in our world, also became the language in it's Darkling counterpart. Thus they spoke Russian.

Scribbler murmured her thanks, falling into step again behind the two nobles. They looked a little worn, but otherwise alright, and a glance at Remus told her he would be fine as well.
The faint howlsong sent chills down her spine, and her confusion was merely compounded by the strange syllables that came from the goblin's mouth.

Remus ordered his guards to move out. After the previous battle, they looked rather dented and battle scarred. However, they were still functioning without any problems. He silently followed the rest of the group.
Edit: The automatons had access to several language banks and could understand the goblin.

Emma raised an eyebrow, quickly covering her confusion.
How good is your Russian?, he asked her mentally.
Not very good. One more thing...you're the only one of us that really looks human.
Bugger.
Emma tried to translate as best she could, and responded in her own broken Russian. "We are not lost. We seek a boy, recently arrived."

The goblin cocked his head, and coughed a little."Мы не видели мальчика, но мы действительно имели группу мужчин, обосновываются здесь." The Goblin said, slowly, and then understanding their confusion used arcane.
He put a hand to his throat, and the translating spell activated,"We did not see a boy, but we did have a group of men settle here." He smiled."They say they'll bring us big profit, all we have to do is let them host their portals here!"

Remus turned to Emma and Hrothebert. "It seems that Vaswedes is trying to build more portals to increase the mobility of his forces around the globe." he whispered.

They nodded back, turning again to the goblin. It was still Emma who spoke, using a translation spell this time rather than her fragmented Russian. "Even so, we ask nothing more than entrance so that we may continue our search."

"That one moves far too fast," Scribbler muttered.
She turned to the goblin, hoping he would understand English, and tried, "Do you know where the men settled?"

The goblin, cocked his head at Scribbler not understanding, but quickly responded to Emma.
"Of course come on i-" The goblin gasped as a Soulless one had crept up on it and stabbed it.
The Soulless one stared blankly at the group, and approached slowly. Emotionless.

Remus turned to Scribbler. "Here, let him translate for you."
The Imperator motioned for on of his automatons. The automaton repeated Scribbler's question in Russian, as the automatons had thousands of languages from around the galaxy stored within their memory banks.
Edit: However, it didn't matter now, as the Soulless one had stabbed the goblin.

[editing] Scribbler's eyes widened as the goblin fell, the Soulless one advancing. "Wh-why?" Words were replaced by actions as she began to grapple with the soulless in a standoff, neither managing to land a proper attack. Slowly, she shifted so there was a clear shot for Remus and Emma.
