Harata grinned. The girl had expected her skills. That was good. It never did to under estimate. She smiled, and pretended to relax. "What? Can you not bare to face me? An opponent in battle is worth nothing if they do not wish to fight, or win. It never does."
[Taunt]
Idiot. That taunt is old. It would not attract anyone to fight.

Coline's brow furrowed. As she thought. But the fight had just begun, it was too early to conclude anything. It seems like she would have to stick this out a bit longer. Shifting her hands slightly upon her weapon's handle, she awaited Harata's next move.

Harata approached her, calmly and casually. She walked up to her, the span around, being careful to cover herself as she made as if to jab for her opponent's stomach, then changed, stabbing at her shoulders instead. Note to self: Remember to observe her as you attack.

Nindyn vel'uss kyorl nind ratha thalra elyhinn dal lil alust. Jessie stood, arms folded, watching the fight from a distance. He had to admit - Harata was good, for a novice. However, he saw with satisfaction as she was hit and swung back clumsily, Coline was more than a match for her. It was early days in the fight, but as Coline leapt back with precision, he breathed out a sigh of relief. She was going to be okay.
Before he had time to feel proud, the SINner called out a mocking piece of advice. He sighed again, this time out of exasperation. He knew Harata's type; talking too much, knowing too little. It was a very juvenile behaviour, but some unfortunately never grew out of it. He just hoped Coline would know better than to fall for her silly tricks.
Happily for him, she didn't react. She left it down to her opponent to move in on her, instead of the other way around - that was good. Sure enough, Harata sauntered forwards before jabbing with her wooden staff. He could tell even from a distance that her form was not a precursor to an effective attack. Coline should be able to handle it just fine. Those who watch their backs meet death from the front. ~~ Drow proverb

Body tensing as Harata approached, Coline braced herself for a hit to the stomach and attempted to meet her fist with the trident's handle, barely noticing the eminent attack to her shoulder. Her eyes widened. Out of reflex she forced her weapon against hers, staggering back to make distance between them again as she did so.
Her heart was beginning to race. That was far too close.

Coline's parry was partially effective, as Harata did not hit the intended spot, her boken lightly grazed the girls cheek however, not cutting, yet a slight welt was appearing. She noticed the girl's expression, and laughed to herself. Oh yes. This will be fun. Nice and close too. She locked her boken into the trident deliberately, pulling the girl closer. "Hello," she said pleasantly enough.

The graze to the cheek elicited a small wince. Not long after she found herself being yanked towards her opponent, her boken locked nicely between the trident's blunt prongs. Coline regarded Harata with a cold glare and a deeply furrowed brow. Was she mocking her?
Grabbing her weapon's handle firmly she made an attempt to spin it around. Had her intention been met with success the Duremite would find her boken several feet away, far out of reach.

Nindyn vel'uss kyorl nind ratha thalra elyhinn dal lil alust. Jessie winced as Coline barely managed to parry Harata's attack, stumbling as she did so. The parry was so clumsy that the girl's weapon managed to swipe against Coline's cheek.
His heart hammered a little. Should he jump in? No... he couldn't. She had to learn for herself.
Preoccupied by his thoughts for a few moments, he didn't notice the next development as immediately as he should have. In pulling Coline closer in order to mock her, Harata was opening herself up fatally.
He caught the preparation a second before the move was executed - no, it couldn't be! His heart hammered a little faster. Harata hadn't noticed Coline locking their weapons together just the way he'd shown her. A few moments later, Colien gave a mighty heave, and the girl's weapon spun away from her. Yes!
A person of lesser constitution would have jumped for joy. As it was, the Captain gave a small cough, shifted a little, and contented himself to a small smile as the feeling of tense worry evaporated and pride overtook him. She'd taken his lessons and run with them.
If only all of his students were so satisfying. Those who watch their backs meet death from the front. ~~ Drow proverb

Harata shrugged as she lost the weapon, and lythely cartwheeled over to the weapon, her legs grabbing the trident as she went. She succeeded in grabbing the trident, but it was not was not pulled out of Coline's grasp, rather dragging Coline with her as she grabbed her weapon.
Signature travel

((Face sucking tiemz nao, yes? <3))
She could hardly believe it. She actually did it? Coline was afraid that her attempt at disarming wouldn't work as planned since she never got the chance to practice after her week-long slumber. All she had going for her was the memory of that time with the Captain. Beginner's luck, perhaps?
Just as she was about to regard Harata with a bow as thanks for a fruitful sparring session she found herself propelled into the air, gripping onto her trident for dear life. Coline landed face-first onto the ground some distance away roughly. Very roughly.
Pushing herself up shakily from the ground, trident still in hand, a mix of pain and sheer aggravation was apparent in her expression. The girl's raw power was indeed great. There was no doubt in her mind now; she was sure of it. "You fight well... SINner." she said, her voice disgruntled and weary.
