As far as hatchlings went, the miserable little brown looked most unhappy to be here. It took the bronze's coaxing and a bit of prodding to send him forth to find His, flopping down and producing a great cloud of sand as he did so beside one of the Candidates. Amoreth could only assume that he had impressed and chosen the individual as His.

Things were getting steadily slower, the excitement of the day finally drawing near its close. The leading bronze, so well-mannered, had led the brown to find His and was thought of all the more highly by Amo. She shifted again on her feet, the sands' heat finally starting to get to her from standing so long in one place. This clutch of Dorath's was no picnic, and it so far had produced as many surprises as there were stars in the sky--overall, she was pleased and privileged to be there.

Watching the impression from where she was kneeling in the sands Nadia turned to look at the clutch seeing only a few unhatched eggs left, sadly she looked around her at the large group of candidates still left and wondered what her chances would be. Taking a deep breath to push away those negitive thoughts she foucsed on what the bronze and the gold where doing.

The Green Paradise Egg had been patient, but it's time was now. It moved and stopped several times before a green nose poked through the side. Then emerged a shining, solid green body. She was as lovely as the queen, but didn't seem to mind she wasn't as important.

Possibly the sweetest of the clutch thus far, she turned to smile at the people in the stands, then the boys and finally at the girls. The gold turned to see her and she declined her head politely, raising it once her queen had given a call of approval.

Instead of going anywhere, she lay down where she was and surveyed the female candidates from this vantage point.

Hm...

When the brown finally found his, the threat of going between long gone, Panata felt hot tears slip from his eyes and down onto his hands on his thighs. It wasn't that he was sad, he was just...so happy. The brown was okay, he would be happy now too with his special someone, and the fear could leave the grounds.

And yet, part of him wished he could have been that special one. Such a lovely brown, surely though this other boy would make him happy! They were going to be happy!

- --

Good, finally. Hurry up.

Only two more eggs, still, but that coward of a brown seemed to have settled down. Leicha was pleased there would be no more threats now of something sad happening, unless of course either of these two eggs turned to be a dud.

That would be beyond horrible.

Kestra smiled to see Mishal leave the sands, happy for him but also feeling an ache for his brown but knowing that there could be no better for a down dragon that her friend. The boy had wanted to be a dragonhealer one day and was unfailingly kind to everyone, without being a fake. If any one could perk up that brown it'd be him.

So much was going on, having seen a blue go and a green impress, trying to keep her eye on the bronze and the queen and see Mishal and his brown and the eggs and...she laughed, enjoying all this.

Watching as the green paradise egg wiggled and finally opened to a lovely green, Nadia watched as the green looked around before settling on the sand; grinning she smiled back at the green and gave the dragonet a small wave when there eyes meet.

The movement of the Green Paradise egg distracted the woman, drawing her gaze immediately to its rocking surface. It hesitated a few times, as if it were either trying to replenish energy or trying to find a softer place in the shell to pierce, but she finally thrust her nose through the covering. Green head, shock, and body followed--her beauty shone brightly, the lady positively radiant despite the common shade she bore.

Amoreth was intrigued. Again, one of her eyebrows cocked upward and she watched with interest as the green showed her respect to the Queen, then lay herself down where she was to give all of the females a look-through. Ponderous, she seemed, almost pensive in her thorough examination from afar. Interesting.

The Candidate's eyes left the green to her own devices, curiosity still saturating the sands. There were so many unanswered questions here, and only observation and time would reveal the answers.

Arolon hid deeper among the crowd, wincing at anyone who bumped against the hurt arm. He was too sharding stubborn to let the healers drag him away yet. He'd been patient for turns to impress, he could wait until everyone had impressed before going to get medical treatment. He felt a little queasy from the heat and the pain but tried to ignore his rolling stomach. He would not whine, he would NOT drop to his knees and he would definitely NOT under ANY circumstances throw up.

Relief. The brown had impressed and would survive! Laughter, the indignant green had impressed too. Now out of Green Paradise Egg came a calmer green who studied the girls from a distance. Bronze still had not impressed either, he had a feeling he would wait until Gold had found hers first. Prehaps he would be the very last. There were only two eggs left unhatched just about, so it wasn't like he'd have long to wait. He still held a bit of hope in his heart...

Sellae watched the brown with relief as he impressed. All of the clutch so far, barring the gold and bronze so far, had Impressed. That was good. Then the green hatched, leaving one egg remaining on the sands. Three more to be Chosen, with luck, and one to hatch.

"It will not be a dud. It cannot. And none of them will go between."

Her voice was a ragged prayer, and she barely realized she'd spoken it aloud. Her head was raised by now, watching the proceedings intensely.

Now there was another green on the sands, once more looking only at the females. Was there even a chance anymore for Leicha, with only the Bronze ( not his, probably ) and the Gold ( certainly not ) abd that cowardly egg from the touching left? Still, this new green was rather lovely and seemed rather kind, so whomever would get her would be happy.

- - -

Panata had slowly managed to get from his knees and slightly onto his bottom, the motion slow, because his knees were burning too much to stay as he was. His chest ached along with his side, but the hatching of the new egg could serve to distract him.

As he watched the green look to the females he hoped another person he knew would get the lovely dragon and learn to be happier.

The green closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. Panic set in among the more paranoid observers as many wondered if she'd somehow died on the sands. A dragon just going to sleep sounded even more unlikely than that.

But she was neither asleep nor dead, just thinking. She opened her eyes and, for a final time, swept them across the female candidates. Soon, her sweet and gentle voice called out to Hers, and it was enough to bring tears to ones eyes. She just felt so loving, so pure.

Rietamine, come get Awunrayth, please. We will go find Kalth and His. I miss him now like I have missed you as I waited.

Frowning as the green seemed to fall asleep on the sands, Nadia watched and hoped that she was truly only asleep or something like that and hadn't passed on some how. When the dragonet spoke to Her's Nadia watched glad that she was alright, the stress and tension of the day started to get to her and she wiped at her eyes as they started to tear.

As if she had pinched his ear and hauled him up straight, Jaylin jerked to attention when he heard His. The screech, the explosion of egg-shells and now... He snapped his mouth shut from when it fell open upon hearing Deprith's voice. His. No, that wasn't right -- he was Hers. Obediently and feeling a blush coming on, Jaylin strode forward to Deprith and escorted her to the table, away from the hatching ground.

Don't slouch like that! Deprith commanded sharply.

"I'm not!" Jaylin snapped, "I'm standing up!"

Then stand up straighter and fetch me something to eat! I am hungry! And where is Nachith?

The boy flinched, squaring his shoulders. "There. Happy now?" He stalked to the table and grabbed the nearest chunks of meat, stopping only to drop them back onto the table and search for better cuts after feeling Deprith's scorn for the wide ribbons of fat in them. He held up a chunk for her inspection and offered to to her when it pleased her before grabbing the bit he had cast aside and offering it to her. "What? Don't look at me like that," he told her, "You get what you get. Who is Nachith?"

But Deprith's attention was not on Hers. She was busy peering under the table and looking from side to side in search of that blue.

A light hiss of air sucked its way through her teeth. The green was indeed lovely, but seemingly quite relaxed and almost tired in a way, but as her eyes cracked open again, it put those who had begun to whisper worried remarks behind her at ease; the Dragonet had not fallen asleep or died, she was merely silently thinking to herself.
Her eyes cast her gaze across the female Candidates before settling on one in particular--no doubt, her chosen lifemate.

Pleased that she had located Hers, Amoreth again looked out at what was left of the clutch. Dorath had to be proud of all of her children. They all seemed so strong, even that poor little brown from earlier had a sense of innate strength about him.

Rieta had been watching the green with the same concern and fear as the crowd. Dragons just didn't do that! Although on the list of things that dragons 'just didn't do' sleeping on the sands wasn't nearly so problematic as some of the offenses committed on the sands that day.

But then, oh then--

Rietamine, come get Awunrayth, please. We will go find Kalth and His. I miss him now like I have missed you as I waited.

Oh. Oh! OH! She was bolting to Awunrayth's side before thought of what had happened even fully managed to sink in. Was kneeling to stroke her head, was biting her lip to keep from crying.

But still she was Rieta. Loving but loud, and the first sound to leave her once she found her voice was her bright booming chuckle.

"Well, come on then, Awunrayth. We won't find him here, will we? Or food neither. Come on, you beautiful, sweet thing." Goodness, but who was she talking too? The dragon or the crowd. She certainly wasn't whispering with proper newly Impressed reverence.
