[Ölüm]

(Unfortunately, there is not a fleck of remorse within me.)

[Castle Oblivion : Tree Sanctuary (Ölüm's Room) => Commons Area

The lone tree in the center of the room was old in appearance and the trunk was massive. The branches held dark green leaves upon them that swayed in the wind. How wind was able to exist was from the size of the room. The tree was lonesome in a vast field of tall grass. If one looked up to the ceiling, they could see an endless sky that went on for what seemed eternity. There was no sun, but the light of the area changed depending upon Ölüm's preference. Usually, the idea was for rest, so the room was almost always in what seemed to be the glow of evening.

The light shown the brightest at the far right side of the area and the darkness made the illusion of creeping upward, but never moved. The sky was a brilliant mix of orange, red, purple, blue, and black all depending on which side of the area it was.

Ölüm gently rested with his head against the trunk of the giant tree. Slowly, he opened his eyes and gave a big yawn with a stretch. The wounds of his previous battle had been healed because of the earth's nutrients that were sucked into his own body. He got up and began to walk toward the exit of the area. Though no door could be seen, once he hit the edge of the field on the dark side of the room, he stepped through the portal and into the Commons.

"Vereor, I just came out to greet you! That happens when you go into mediation. You can hear everything for miles. Now now now. Who are these three here? Fine additions I hope to our conquest, yes? But enough digressing, I wondered if the distraction was enough to let the capture of that girl go unnoticed... Obviously there has not been any attacks, but it seemed like you were at Traverse Town longer than I... no news I suspect?"

{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}

[Traverse Town : First District]

Soryuju practically jumped at the young woman's frightful awakening, instinctively inhaling sharply as if ready to defend himself, only to 'bite his tongue', so to speak, realizing she was just scared. Calming down himself, he merely nodded to the young woman's thanks and continued the healing process, not moving from his spot even as Elde spoke. To him. It took a few more moments of silence from the knight, but eventually...

"That should do it," he said with a light sigh, dropping his arms down to his side. His hands, if anyone had been observant enough to notice, looked extremely pale by this point in comparison to his normal skin tone. "I am Soryuju Ryutetsin, and I thank you for your assistance in the fight... as well as apologize for not being of better aid."

His words seemed sincere, but there was a depth to them as he looked away, contemplating Elde's question.

"I... I don't know who they were," he responded, sitting down lightly as he tried to gain a second breath. "But they know my brother. So I have to find them."

[Hefin]

{The blades don't lead to war, it's the soldier}

[Traverse Town : First District]

Hefin was slightly amused by Cid's frustration; the man almost always seemed to be in a fit. At the mention of the assailants in black, Hefin merely grunted and scratched his chin. "In all honesty, the two of them nearly wiped the floor with us. One of them filled the air with poison while the other kept knocking us around with shockwaves." Hefin made no mention of the sonic user's wail that brought back his old memories. "Then there was acid rain, then they left, and suddenly they were fighting two Heartless. Not like the ones that normally come around here though. One looked like a guillotine and the other was a wheel of some sort. We came out on top though without losing anyone, so I guess that counts for something."

Hef wondered how his friend would react to this news. Knowing Cid he'd probably start spouting off about how he could have changed things. "There's going to be some fixing up needed, especially by the diner, but otherwise the district is no worse for wear."

She slowly sat up, rotating her left shoulder slowly. "Alexandra Sumara, but just keep it to Alex," she said, getting up only to retrieve her sword and return to her seat. Absentmindedly, she played with a piece of hair that had fallen over her shoulder. A nervous habit created when she was in the Rebel Legions of Patr, she'd never been able to stop herself from playing with her hair when she was scared or nervous. She looked at Soryuju, and raised an eyebrow.

"You want to go after the pair of figures who not only tried to make us deaf, but poison us to death too? All for information I'm assuming on your brother? Wish I had a reason like that to hunt someone down..." she trailed off, her mind finding darker territory for a moment. With a small sharp shake of her head, she came back to the present and gave Soryuju a smile. Man, if the Dragon Knights back home could have roared like he did, the war would have been over ages ago....

"I am merely a hunter of Heartless, but I'll lend a sword to your cause, fight, hunt, what-have-you for a time. I could use a change of scenery, and the opportunity to kill the sound of that girl with the large pitch fork looking thing."
| I simply hunt Heartless, nothing more. If you need that, then I am your girl.|

Narration: First District of Traverse Town

After the fight with the two enigmatic Dark-Walkers and the Macabre Horror, the First District was still in one piece... but that piece was relatively destroyed. Every single window had been shattered by the sound blast, and the quake had torn up the cobblestone ground throughout the district, with the worst damage (fault-like cracks in the ground) being in and around the Courtyard. The Open-Wall Diner had the roof caved-in on it, with the kitchen left in ruins. As well, a sort of foul stench still filled the air from the poisonous fluids that had slithered into the drainage.

Souzourou
{Don't we live in a beautiful world? And now a beautiful universe?}

[Traverse town :: First District]

Souz had been leaning against the back wall of the accessory shop, resting to try and get his strength back up while the poison left his system. After a while he looked up a Orielle, and nodded to her. "I'm gonna need to get the rest of this out, I'm thinking if I can dilute it with some food and drink, I might be able to get back to normal quicker. Why don't we see if the restaurant is open again, now that the commotion has died down? Okay, Orielle?" he asked the last part in a way that said if she really want to, she didn't have to. But he then added "Either way, I'm gonna go check," unknowing that the roof had caved in.

He started walking around the accessory shop, but looked back to Orielle before, waiting for her response before rounding the corner.

With one hand on her hip, the pyro-gunner sighed and rolled her eyes. "Oh alright. I'm pretty hungry myself," she admitted, dropping her arm from her waist and walking towards Souzourou. "My my my, whoever it was really did have their fun with this place," she chuckled as she kicked a rather large piece of glass out of her path. "I take it they were strong, then, to get passed the likes of you?" she asked, her voice taunting. Though truly, she was surprised to see her companion is such a state. All that poison....

"Oh geez, do you think the restaurant is still standing?" she asked, her mood now sour at the prospect of a hungry stomach.

Cid's eyes narrowed at Hefin's explanation. They lost? But... they were all skilled fighters. Even Cid knew that. He'd seen both Hefin and that blond boy (-- Suriuji? Souriju? Meh. --) fight enough times to know they were capable fighters, and the others couldn't have been half-bad either. And yet, they lost? The scowl on the engineer's face became more solemn as he contemplated that.

"That ol' wizard's gonna have a cow when he sees this," Cid muttered, reaching for the pack of cigs strapped to his head by his goggles, only to remember he lacked a lighter. He played it off as scratching his head in thought. "Well, thanks for helpin out, Hef. Wonder who the bastards were..."

"You got me there Cid. They came, caused mass destruction, then just up and left. From the looks of things, one of them managed to rattle Sory quite a bit. I hope he's okay." Hefin cracked his neck and sighed. "Well I'm gonna head home, I'm worn out and I want to make sure my house is still standing. Talk to you later Cid?"

Hefin was certain that Aeris and Athene were fine; after all, there was no way that the damage could have stretched THAT far. Even then, Aeris was a resourceful girl. She'd make sure herself and Athene were safe if they were in danger.

{ Don't underestimate the light. }

[Traverse Town : Mystical House -> Third District]

Mina seemed distant, pensive, as she stared right past Merlin and Vain as they were talking, intent on the wall behind them. As Merlin continued his talk, most of it hopeless and realistic, Mina shifted her gaze to the floor. She became very interested in her feet. A shadow fell over her eyes.

She shot a glare at Merlin then, an angry and disappointed one. "That's not right, Merlin. Not right! You're zapping all hope from him, making him feel like it's over before it's even begun! Sure, it's true, but-" she suddenly turned her attention to Vain, "The darkness won't get to your heart. You'll find a hold on it, you'll see. Just keep looking. You've gotta find... Oh!"

The mouse flailed her hands and went for the exit, obviously upset. Vain, and that conversation, were completely unexpected, and had hit a cord in the small mouse. She looked back at them as she reached the door.

"...gotta find your light."

It occurred to her, briefly, that what she had said probably made a lot less sense than what Merlin was saying, and she was bound to confuse the poor fella, but she still didn't stop once she was outside of the house. Jumping onto the moving rocks with an enviable ease, she passed them as if it had taken no concentration or skill at all. It did, in fact, but she was so used to that kind of thing it didn't even challenge her. Jumping was kinda what she did.

Soon enough, she found herself in the Third District, a golden fountain off in one corner being the most prominent feature. The place had recently been cleared of Heartless, but more were appearing nonetheless, sensing her heart and longing for it like hungry beasts. Apparently, this wasn't the safest place to be...

Souz' heart dropped at the idea of there being no food. But he picked his hope up again quickly. "You're probably right." he said, ignoring her previous comment. "But maybe they still have something left, that escaped the destruction." He walked down into the courtyard, leaning against the wall still, and noticed the gathering there. He waved to them. He then noticed some of them were leaving, and shrugged. "I'll see if they know a good place for food." he told his student, and then started heading over.

Zigmund

[Castle Oblivion : Oath of Affliction -> Commons Area (AKA Kitchen)]

Zigmund got a good look around as he walked through the corridor Blunt, but has my kind of flare to it. he thought Could use some metallic themes, and a potted plant or two.

He saw Vereor pick up the young girl. Now that was interesting. What kind of girl was "different"enough to draw the attention of the Conclave? He'd have to look into that.

Several bounds of exposition later,Vereor finally mentioned something notable. Zigmund needed a gemstone and jewelry. Oh, and some brown haired man had just walked in. Couldn't forget that.

"That's an interesting way of communication." Zigmund shrugged "Anyway, there's an old gemstone I once worked with. A bright silver little thing called a Moongem. I'd like one of those. As for jewelry, a simple ring will do. I've never been much for it."

{You look like you fell down a tree and hit every possible branch on the way down.}

[Traverse Town :: First District]

"But... the battle is over." Suzu responded to the little boy, a look of confusion. She wanted to know now, did their father send him? Was their world faring okay? Had there been anymore attacks? She was intent on finding out, but the voice of the tall man with a blade and what looked like a gun attached to it, got her attention. Flustered, she bowed her head in apology. "Oh! Yeah, I'm fine! Thanks so much for saving me. Or I would've been chopped up into teriyaki or something and that'd be pretty horrible, I don't think I would make good teriyaki." Suzu thought and shuddered, finally looking up at Leon with a smile.

[[Vain]]

"Death out of a Father's Pride"

___[Traverse Town .:. Mystical House]

Vain watched as Mina stormed out, listening the her words as intently as he had Merlin's. Find... My light? Once the mouse had left, the young man simply stared at the exit, thinking quietly to himself and pondering his current options. So far, this wizard has only offered his grave information on my situation... Yet this mouse seems willing to become involved, based on her emotional outburst. That and she mentioned something I had once heard my father quote from a book... There is something more to this than what lies on the surface. Something else lurks below the obvious, and this mouse might help me unravel its mystery.

It would seem you're not the meat-head I had originally thought you were. Some of your father's intelligence obviously resides within you.

Vain ignored the Revblade's words before looking back to Merlin, giving a quick bow before saying, "I thank you for your information, Merlin, but right now I must be going. This town is crawling with those 'heartless' things, and be it human or mouse, I am not one to leave a lady to fend for herself. I will try to visit as often as possible during my visits, if only for you to make sure the Revblade has kept this hand in check. I bid you farewell."

With that, Vain turned to the door and left the Mystical House, the 3rd District his destination.

___[Traverse Town .:. Third District]

The Revblade went hurtling past Mina and through a line of Heartless before turning back and returning to Vain's right hand.

"Ahh~, what refreshing darkness! More, Vain! Give me more!"

Vain simply nodded and dashed into the fray, passing Mina without a word as he struck down a soldier Heartless with the Revblade. He looked over his shoulder and said, "Mina, thank you for your words before. They have given me hope that one day I might be the old me again."

"3 o'clock!"

Vain turned back and struck down another Heartless before shouting, "If you can fight, though, it would be greatly appreciated!" Vain turned his attention back to the growing number of Heartless, moving to a relaxed stance as he closed his eyes.

"Oh? An 'uproar', huh? It'd be my pleasure!"

A sudden stream of blue and black explosions littered the district, wiping out a large number of Heartless rather quickly. Vain opened his eyes again and jumped into the fray, swinging the Revblade and sending Wind Slashes into the fray of Heartless.

"Yes, that's it! Use those 'flair' techniques!"

The young man landed on the ground in a crouched position, holding the Revblade behind him as he shut his eyes again. After only a moment, the Revblade became covered in frost and began to emit a cooling fog from its blade. Vain opened his eyes and swung downward with the frozen sword, a sudden pillar of ice spearing upwards from the ground and skewering a Shadow. The pillar then exploded, the fragments significantly slowing down any Heartless it came into contact with.

"Now's your chance to use it! Iai Strike, Vain! Iai Strike!"

Vain and the Revblade suddenly vanished, leaving only a small glint of light dashing around the battle field. The light passed through every Shadow affected by the Hoarfrost attack before finally finding it's way back to where Vain has previously stood. Now he stood with the blade behind him as though he had just swung his blade, and all of the Heartless the light had touched suddenly stopped. He sheathed the Revblade and looked over his shoulder just in time to see the Heartless dissipate into a cloud of darkness before vanishing entirely.

He stood up, exhausted from his assault, only to watch more Heartless come out like clockwork.

There's no end to them! Oh, happy day!

Not exactly, sword. I can't do this all day. I'm not used to pushing myself so hard for so long...If they don't let up, we'll have to flee.

"Mercy out of a Father's Cry."

-- Sory... Soryuju! That's blondie's name! --

"Yeah, talk to ya later, Hef," Cid grumbled, still a bit distracted as he looked over the scene from the ledge that stood over the Courtyard, facing the Gummi Hangar entrance. Maleficent didn't work like this... she didn't cause needless havok. As far as he knew, she'd never even lifted a finger against them, but she was always scheming, always hiding in the shadows, waiting.

Leaning his arms down on the ledge, Cid noticed Leon down in the courtyard, talking to one of the women who had battled. She had a large scythe, which made the engineer raise an eyebrow. What was a young girl like that doing with such a weapon...?
