Very Good, nice to be able to go out after some heavy snow fall. No tornados here but there had been some high winds over the last 3 or 4 days and mostly rain.

We only got 2 snows and they were no-accumalation so they were pretty but not much else.

Ohter day it go up to 40 degrees but mostly just a bit cold here is all.

Glad to hear you had only high winds and no tornados. I like the high winds. They carry off things I don't want in my yard. And carry in some interesting things. lol

Today is 55 and sunny. So why am I here. I won't be fore long. The outdoor calls me.

Yp, the winds dont really bother me very much. Rain and wind seem to make me sleep better for some reason.

I understand Harvey, enjoy the outdoors and all of that for me as well as I am off to work. sweatdrop

Going to try and get to some more reading and relaxation when I am able this year.

I have a back-up of books I need to read.

Reading is one of life's great pleasures. I'm such a good "customer" at the local library they greet me by name. They're holding a book for me right now. Can't wait to go get it when I get off work.

What sort of stuff do you read? I like mysteries. And gardening books.

Mostly, Sci-fiction, Fantasy-Fiction, Alternate History, and from time to time actual science stuff. (Really have to be in the mood to read real sciency stuff.)

Sci Fiction is fun. I used to read a lot of it. My tank "Earthsea" is named for the Ursula LeGuin Earthsea trilogy.

What's "Alternate History"?

Yup, ^8^ I have te entire Earthsea Trilogy in my room. It was one of my first Fiction books I read that I remember.

"Alternate History" is basically like "What If's?" like for example:

What if WW2 had been won by the Axis Powers? Or what if The Civil War was won by the South?

Basically it is what could have happened if just small things that seem insignificant changed in history for just a moment.

What ifs... Never heard of that. It's a VERY interesting idea. What if the South had won... *head explodes* I'd like to read that actually. Can you give me a title or author?

Yup Earthsea trilogy was one of my first too, along with short story anthologies. Asimov stands out in my memory. And Zelasny.

Yup, here is one of my favorite Authors of Alternate History.

Harry Turtledove, Most of what he writes is basically stories that are like "What Ifs?" from the point of view of people living threw the time-periods that would have happened if things changed.

He has done a bunch of Alternate History from different periods as well.

Book Titles

By: Harry Turtledove

1)Ruled Brittanian (1 Book)

(What if, the Spanish Armada has conguared Britian during Gueen Elizabeth's ruling years.)

2)How Few Remain (Book 1)

(What if, the South won The Civil War starts the series of books listed below on #3)

3) World War series/ Settling Accounts/ American Empires series (3 Books 3 World War series, Books 3 Settling Accounts WW2 series, Books 3 American Empries Years inbetween the World Wars

(What if, the South won The Civil War but had allowed the U.S states to continues instead of absorbing them into the C.S.A. And also what the History would have been like threw those years leading up to the end of WW1 -WW2 from then.

4) United States Of Atlantis (What if, America was discovered but the Eastern coast was detached from the Main Continient? from Maine to just below Florida to make a coastal island, and then it was colinized instead of the Main Continent?

Here is another few.

John Birmingham--Modern Alternate History, mostly WW2 and recent history.

Kim Stanley Robinson-- One book of hers I like is titled "The Years Of Rice & Salt" and it is "What If?, instead of 50% of The Worlds population dying because of the Black Death, what would have happened if 90% had died and the world had been left to the Asian countiers to discover and go into the world.

O my, Years of Rice and Salt sounds very interesting. I think I'll start with that one. I wonder if the library has that. If not, maybe they can get it for me from inter-library loan. NC has an arrangement with Virginia. And maybe other states and universities.

Excuse me if my memory has holes in it. It does. Big ones. But have we talked about Clan of the Cave Bear? I think you might like that. Unless maybe your interest in fictional-history doesn't go that far back. To Neanderthal times. It has lots of sex and a little violence. lol
